Hi there Peter here,
Hope your day is going well wherever you are! Talking of which I had an e mail
this morning from Liz. Shhe gets her letter everyday day in Penang in Manilla
-which must surely be the furthest that any LL goes - unless as Esther would
say - you know different. Well last night I got to talk to one of the biggest
stars of the moment Bradley Walsh. He plays Danny in "the street" and is in
the middle of a season at Blackpool as well. He seemed a very friendly guy.
It's always quite weird talking to a street star. A few months back we had
William Roache who plays Ken Barlow on the red sofa. I have been watching him
in the Street since I was about 5 so I felt I knew him. Anyway the interview
went well and throughout I called him WILLIAM - and then with the interview and
the show over I said "KEN, would you like a coffee?". I have never gone so red.
TONIGHT
=======
As usual an update on all the day's news and tonight I shall be talking to
Kirsti Williams. Kirsti was the Hull girl who did so well on "Stars in their
Eyes" and is now in the middle of a summer season in Blackpool alongside the
Krankies. She's done really well and I'll be chatting with her later on.
It's just been announced that the star of the film about the anti-slavery
campaigner William Wilberforce will be Ioan Gruffud. The Hollywood film will
have a load of big names in it alongside Ioan and of course some of the filming
will be done in Hull. We are doing quite well for film locations. The Da Vinci
Code has been filmed in Lincoln and it doesnt stop there - we shall have the
full story tonight at 6 30
BLOOD BROTHERS
==============
Thanks for all the entries to win tickets to see the hit musical Blood
Brothers. There were loads, thanks for taking part! The musical is set in
Liverpool and that was the answer. The winning two names pulled out were Mick
Potter from Hull and Lucy Ash from Kirton in Lindsey near Grimsby. Well done to
both and thanks again for having a bash.
BIRTHDAY
========
Rita has written to tell me that her husband David is celebrating his birthday
on Saturday and could he have a mention? As there is no LL on Saturday I
thought I would put it in today. Happy Birthday David.
THE STRAIGHTMEN
===============
I had an e mail from Rob to tell me that the Lincoln based band The Straightmen
have been chosen to perform at the Guild of Hairdressers annual awards ceremony
in London this weekend. They are going to be filmed as well - so well done to
them. Dont forget if you know any singers and or musicians that you think
would make a good guest for the show then drop me a line and let me know we
maybe be able to get them on the show. As ever you can get me at [EMAIL
PROTECTED]
LIKELY LADS
===========
I used to love the Likely Lads on the TV. I never realised when I watched as a
teenager that I would end up living for many years in Bingley - Rodney Bewes
home town in Yorkshire. I mention this as Rodney has his autobiography out at
the moment and is in Yorkshire today promoting it. Although Rodney wanted to
call it something different it was always inevitable that the publishers would
want to call it 'A Likely Story'! In the book {which I have not read in full},
he tells us about fame - and that the fact that he and James Bolam fell out and
haven't spoken for 25 years. How sad is that?
THAT ADVERT
===========
I see from the e-mails that still the witty comments are coming in about 'that
advert'. It's certainly got people talking even if most of it is at my expense.
I am sure you are not very many minutes away from seeing it again !!! Sorry.
Well had better get on - join me at 6 30
All the best
Peter
