Hello, it’s Peter here, welcome to Friday’s levy letter, we’ve made it to the
end of the week. Whatever you’ve got planned for the weekend, I hope it goes
very well indeed. I’m looking forward to meeting quite a few people in the
centre of Hull tomorrow morning. And today, well I hope you’ll be able to join
me BBC 1 six thirty. Tonight we’ll be talking to ……….

And also this weekend it’s the birthday of BBC Radio Lincolnshire, so Happy
Birthday to them. One of the very first people on the station, over twenty
years ago now, was national broadcaster John Inberdale. Ahead of the birthday
weekend I shall be talking to John on the programme tonight. There will also be
another celebrity guest, tune in later to find out who that is. Also tonight
the weekend forecast with Paul.

Welly Boots

Can you believe it, the ‘PC’ brigade have told us about the latest thing which
can cause us danger. They’re lurking in the sheds and under the stairs, just
waiting for the moment to strike. Be afraid, be very afraid of Wellington
boots. Wellington’s of all shapes and sizes are one of the major causes of
accidents in and around the home. They’re involved in an astonishing 7,000
visits to casualty in a single year. In most cases the wearer slipped while
walking or pulled a muscle while putting them on, and then there’s always the
possibility of helping to remove someone else’s welly and shooting backwards
into a hard object when it comes off more easily than expected. Another
seemingly harmless garment is the cardigan. It’s responsible for nearly 1000
arrivals every year at casualty. Most of the injuries occur when the wearer has
a strain dressing or gets baggy sleeves caught in doors. Others trip over
cardigans after leaving them on the floor. So be warned this weekend, cardi!
gans and welly boots are dangerous … whatever next?

Letters

Thank you very much indeed for all the emails and letters for the Levy Letter,
keep them coming in. If you want to write to me, particularly if you have a
problem, or if you want a mention in the Levy Letter or to shout out someone’s
birthday, then email me direct at [EMAIL PROTECTED] An email here Paul Derrick,
he says ‘How about a mention in Friday’s Levy Letter for the Hull model railway
show this weekend please, it’s at the Costello stadium, at Anlaby Park Road
North between 10 and 5:30 on Saturday and between 10 and 5 on Sunday. There’s
plenty of local interest including layout, based on Willerby, Hull docks and on
the south bank Wintringham Haven.’ That’s the Hull model railway show, this
weekend. If you’re going, if you’re a modeller, then enjoy.

Calendar

This is a daily reminder really of the BBC Children in Need Calendar. It’s
going very well indeed. Thanks to all of you who have bought one and if you’re
yet to make your purchase there are still some on sale, they’re £5 and all
profits go to Children in Need. If you post a cheque for £6 to: Look North
Calendar, Queens Court, Queens Gardens, Hull HU1 3RH, then the Children in Need
Calendar will be yours. And of course talking of the big day, it’s a week
today, BBC Children in Need 2005. Look out for that, we’ll have plenty of
coverage I’m sure in the next week.

Women getting ready
Women spend two years of their lives getting ready to go out, this is three
times longer than men spend on grooming. No surprises there! On average it
takes females nearly 90 minutes from showering to reaching the front door.
Girls spend 30 minutes applying make-up, 24 minutes doing their hair and 26
minutes getting dressed – what do you do for 26 minutes? A typical man’s
routine takes just 32 minutes form start to finish. Both sexes spend less time
getting ready for work than they do for play, with men needing just 13 minutes
to shower and shave before leaving for the office - it always takes me longer
than that – while women take 54 minutes to get dressed for work, it is still
half an hour less than they do at the weekend. Men spend just 10 minutes
deciding what to wear for a night out, that’s more than three times longer than
the 3 minutes it takes them to select a suit, shirt and tie for work. There we
are women spend two years of their lives getting ready to go out.

Guests

Don’t forget if you’ve got a guest you’d like to see on the programme one day
soon - if they’ve got a connection with the area or if they come into the area
and you know about it, give me the details and let me know and we’ll try and
get them on the programme. Remember you can contact me direct at [EMAIL
PROTECTED]

If over the weekend if you meet anyone who’s not signed up for a Levy Letter
and you think they’d like one then all they’ve got to do is go to one of the
two addresses at the bottom of the letter, click on levy letter and follow the
instructions to sign up. Then they’ll get their daily Levy Letter everyday as
you already do.

That’s it from me, join me tonight six thirty BBC1, for all the days news and
to find out who that celebrity this evening will be. Enjoy the weekend, and
look out for your Levy Letter Monday lunchtime. Bye for now, Peter.
