Hello, it's Peter here and welcome to Friday’s Levy Letter. I hope your day is
going well and you’ll be able to join me tonight, BBC One at 6.30pm. It’s a
very big day because the programme tonight will be coming live from the Humber
Bridge, on the Hessle Foreshore to celebrate the bridge's 25th birthday. If
you’re free and you can make it down then join me, also meet our guests. We’ll
be talking to the Bridge Master and finding out all about behind the scenes of
the bridge. We’ll also be joined by the Band of the Royal Marines and the Blue
Peter presenter Zoe Salmon. And Lisa Gallagher and Hannah Moffat will be there
as well. Join me if you can by the bridge, Hessle Foreshore any time from 5pm
and we’ll be on the air at 6.30pm. So come down and we’ll see you a little
later on.
And it’s a busy weekend because it’s Sport Relief tomorrow. Just a reminder, if
you’ve not signed up and you’d like to raise some money and run the mile
tomorrow then the Sport Relief mile will be run in Hull. If you can make it
down to Queen’s Gardens then join me. You might even see yourself on the telly
because it’ll be on BBC One sometime between 10.30am and midday. The address if
you’d like to sign up is www.bbc.co.uk/sportrelief and if you’re coming down to
Queen’s Gardens I look forward to seeing you tomorrow.

Pictures

If you’ve got a digital camera and you take any pictures over the weekend of
good views which we could use on the programme then don’t forget to send them
to me and if you have a problem you think we might be able to deal with on
Leave it to Levy then drop me a line to [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Television

Thanks for all the emails, unsolicited I have to say on the subject of
PokerFace. This is a game of bluff apparently which is being hosted by Ant and
Dec and no-one seems to like it at all. I’ve had five or six emails just today
alone saying Peter, it’s awful. There’s nothing I can do about it, it’s an ITV
programme! Contestants compete apparently for £1 million. I haven’t seen it but
it doesn’t seem to be very popular. Your views on that and indeed anything
else. I have been enjoying, I have to say, Only Fools On Horses where the
celebrity show jumpers are vying for a place in the final and raising money in
the process for Sport Relief. I’m not a great lover of horses after what
happened to me and I know nothing about show jumping but I’ve been fascinated
by this programme and have found it compulsive viewing. There’s a bit more
tonight and it finishes tomorrow night. Only Fools On Horses, a good thing and
raising money for Sport Relief.

Takeaways

If like me you enjoy a takeaway and live on them quite regularly, one in five
takeaways could be a threat to health according to figures out today. That’s
frightening isn’t it? One in five takeaways could be a threat to health. And
also talking of food and let’s blame everybody, a report out today says that
morning sickness could be a sign that mums have been eating badly during
pregnancy. There we are, let’s not blame nature let’s blame the woman concerned
and her diet according to some figures out today.

Sinclair

Sir Clive Sinclair is at it again. He’s got a new fold-up bike; you might have
seen pictures of it with tiny little wheels which are no more than 4 inches
across. I don’t know what anyone thinks about this. I haven’t read the reviews
in the paper but the first thing which springs to mind is, even if the bike
works, you’d feel extremely embarrassed on it which was the same thing with the
old C5 which people of a certain age will remember. Anyway Sir Clive Sinclair’s
new gadget is just a little fold-up bike you can take with you with the tiny
wheels. Your views on that and indeed anything else as ever to [EMAIL
PROTECTED]

Mablethorpe

Just a reminder that not this Sunday, but the Sunday after is the big event on
the east coast – the switching on of the Mablethorpe lights. Paul and I will be
there on the Sunday evening to do the honours. If you fancy a trip out then
Mablethorpe, Sunday evening 23 July. Make a note in your diary and come down
and join us.

Scarecrow Festivals

These seem very popular during the summer and I’ve had an email from David
Green to say that the village of Ellerker near Hull is holding their Scarecrow
Festival next weekend. (22 and 23 July) There’ll be over 50 scarecrows to see
and it all starts at 10am.

Well that’s all from me today. Join me if you can in person at the Humber
Bridge and if not on BBC One at 6.30pm as usual. Have a good weekend and if
there’s someone you know who’s not signed up to the Levy Letter and they’d like
one then point them in the direction of one of the two addresses at the bottom
of the page, get them to click on there and on Levy Letter, sign up and they’ll
get their first letter on Monday. Have a very good weekend.

Bye, Peter.
