Hello, it’s Peter here and welcome to Thursday’s Levy Letter. I hope your day’s
going well and you’ll be able to join me tonight on Look North at half past
six.
Tonight we’ll have the latest on the search for missing mum Amanda Whitehurst
as police release CCTV footage of her last known whereabouts.

And we'll speak to both patients and residents about planned cuts to jobs and
health services in Bridlington. We’ve had a big response on this story already,
so it’s obviously something that means a lot to people. We’ll see what they
have to say later.

We'll meet the meteorologist who says the environment agency were too slow to
warn about flooding in Louth. Of course now that the clear up is in progress
people are wondering what went wrong and how to prevent the same happening in
the future.

Putting his way to glory - We'll meet the Boston golfer making a name for
himself at this year's Open.

And going out with a bang, we'll have a special report on the demolition of a
local landmark. It’s the end of an era in Cleethorpes, don’t miss that on the
programme tonight.

And of course we’ll have the weather forecast as usual, getting close to the
weekend so hopefully things will be looking good. That’s Look North at six
thirty on BBC One, I hope you can join me.

As I mentioned earlier, we’ve been having a big response on proposed health
service cuts in Bridlington, lots of people seem to be against it. Also our
story about the closing of the central post office in Hull, lots of people are
going to be affected and we had a lot of people angry about the closure and
wondering what the impact will be on their lives and businesses. Thanks for all
those messages, and keep them coming in. If you want to comment on anything and
maybe have your comment read out on the programme you can call our hotline
number, or send us a text, or you can email us at [EMAIL PROTECTED] We’ll have
more details during the programme as usual.

A little while back I mentioned in the RNLI Flag Day in the letter, well I’ve
received a message from the RNLI thanking the people of Hull for their
tremendous support last Saturday. The event raised £1,954, which is a fantastic
amount.
The RNLI want to pass on the message that they couldn’t operate the life boats
without the wonderful support of the public. Of course the life boats are such
an important service along the coast, so thank you if you went along, and well
done to the RNLI for raising a lot of money.

It’s the Steam Rally Weekend in Withernsea on Saturday 28th and Sunday 29th of
July. I’m told there will be full sized steam engine, a fairground organ, and
lots of other attractions for all you fans of trains and steam power. It
promises to be a fun day out, and there’s also a parade through the town
starting at 2pm, so if you’re in the Withernsea area do try to get out and see
that. Maybe it’ll be going right past your house.

Thomas

Well it’s featured the voice of Ringo Starr, and Alec Baldwin, and now Pierce
Brosnan is stepping in to narrate Thomas the Tank Engine. The ex-James Bond
will make his debut in a DVD released in 2008. It doesn’t seem an obvious
choice does it? But apparently Pierce is a fan of the famous train, and enjoyed
reading the stories with his children. Well it’ll be interesting to see how
that turns out, let’s hope he leaves his license to kill at home…

Well that’s about it from me today, join me tonight at six thirty on BBC One,
and if you miss the programme or want to watch it at a time of your choosing
you can find it on the internet along with some of our top stories in bite
sized packages on www.bbc.co.uk/looknorthhull.

Bye for now

Peter
