Hello, it’s Peter here and welcome to the last Levy Letter of the week. It’s
Friday, and there’s more heavy rain predicted over the next twenty four hours,
so I hope if you’re at risk you’re well prepared. On Look North tonight we’ll
be in the emergency planning centres across the region looking at how
preparations are going to try and prevent a repeat of the awful scenes we’ve
had recently.

We'll also talk to an insurance company criticising Hull City Council as it
tries to find housing for the hundreds hit by the floods.

Tonight we’re also looking at why more Lincolnshire Police officers are being
given powers to use taser stun guns on suspects. They are a non lethal
electrified weapon if you didn’t know, although they do come with certain
risks. We’ll have more on the programme.

And we're in the village losing its school because parents would rather drive
their children to another school 5 miles away. That sounds unbelievable doesn’t
it? Watch the report tonight to get the full story.

Don’tmiss the weather forecast for the weekend today, as I mentioned earlier
there could be lots of rain on the way. That’s all on Look North tonight at the
usual time of 6.30 on BBC One.

Museums

There’s an event happening at the weekend in Hull’s Museums Quarter, they’ve
got a programme of free family activities and demonstrations to mark National
Archaeology Week. Warriors and weapons weekend, led by Magnus Sigurdsson,
master armourer, who has made weapons and armour for some of the most famous
Hollywood historical blockbusters will start on Saturday 21st July, 11am - 4pm,
at the Hull and East Riding Museum.
You’ll be able to make a Saxon shield or sword to take home, and talk to Magnus
about what it’s like to make swords for films such as ‘Pirates of the
Caribbean’ and ‘Braveheart’. On Sunday Magnus will be giving a talk at Ferens
Art Gallery about his job and the conflict that can arise between history and
Hollywood. The talk begins at 2pm, places can be booked by calling Hull Museums
on 01482 613902. If you haven’t been to the Museums Quarter in Hull before this
is an excellent opportunity, and it sounds very interesting. That’s happening
over this weekend.

Harry

I hear the latest Harry Potter book is to be launched at midnight tonight, and
some fans have already been queuing for three days! That’s outside a bookshop
in London, I don’t quite know what they’ve been doing to pass the time for
three days as they stand in a queue. It certainly puts standing in line at the
supermarket in perspective, doesn’t it?
Some of the Potter fans have come dressed as their favourite characters, and
others have travelled from around the world to soak up the atmosphere, and
presumably the British weather, as they savour the anticipation. Let’s hope the
book lives up to their expectations. Apparently the children’s charity
Childline has put on extra staff as they ready themselves for an expected surge
in calls from distraught children over a rumoured death in the book. That’s
incredible, isn’t it? So the new Harry Potter book is out at midnight tonight,
or tomorrow morning. If you’re a fan, you’d better get in line now!

Don’t forget if you have anything you think we should know about, or any
pictures you think we should see or that we can use on the programme, you can
get in touch with me on [EMAIL PROTECTED]
And if you miss the programme tonight or if you’re busy and can’t see it live,
you can watch it on our website at www.bbc.co.uk/looknorthhull. Or if you just
want to watch some of our stories in bite sized pieces you can do that too. If
there’s somebody you know who’s not signed up to the Levy Letter than point
them in the direction of that website and they can click on Levy Letter and
sign up. They’ll get their free Levy Letter from the day afterwards.

Well that’s it from me today, join me tonight for Look North at six thirty on
BBC One.

Bye for now

Peter
