Hello there, it’s Peter here, back again with the Levy Letter at the start of
another week. And what a welcome back to Hull with such incredibly heavy
showers this morning. And Paul, apparently, has a lot to say about our recent
terrible weather and heavy flooding. He’s not just content to be on our
screens. He’s written into the Yorkshire Post too. I’ve had emails this morning
to let me know about his letter in the newspaper! So thanks for those this
morning and thanks for all the messages wishing me a happy holiday. I’m back
and I’m rested and I’ll be with you for Look North all this week.

On tonight's Look North, we'll be looking at Humberside Police's latest scheme
as they hope to cut down anti social behaviour in our area. They'll be handing
out leaflets naming and shaming people, who have breached their ASBOs. Do you
think it’ll work? Well tune in tonight, take a look at the leaflet and let me
know!

And we'll be finding out more about the dangerous fish, which have been freed
from their lake by floodwaters. Conservationists fear they will cause damage to
their local environment.

I'll be asking why one of Hull's biggest sporting events ended in disruption
and arrests at the weekend. And we'll be looking at the demand for rented
houses after hundreds of victims are flooded out of their homes. That’s all
tonight on BBC One at half past six.

And speaking of the flooding, I saw this morning this lovely email in our Look
North inbox. This comes from Mrs Wiseman and I thought I should share it with
you. “I am one of the many, who although marooned, did not have any water in
their homes. Unfortunately, my neighbours were badly hit. I would like to pay
tribute to the Humber Rescue Team, who appeared with sandbags and rescue boats.
They were a continuing presence to reassure and be available to help if needed.
One chap escorted my daughter along Pryme Street, because the current was too
strong for her to go alone. Whenever I looked out, there was a cheery wave and
concern for my wellbeing. Would you please let the Rescue workers know that
their diligence was gratefully received.” So a lovely tribute there for the
rescue workers hard at work during the flooding in our area. Thanks Mrs Wiseman
for getting in touch with us about that.

And of course, the Levy Letter is a great place for a quick plug for any
charity event in your area. Mary Gray wrote in asking for a plug for the
Bridlington and Driffield branch of the RSPCA. She writes – “We have had a
great number of unwanted and neglected cats handed into us and the numbers have
now increased to such an extent that we are running out of accommodation for
them and desperately need good homes. We are proposing having an Open Day at
the private boarding cattery that we use. This open day will be on Sunday 12th
August.” So the Bridlington and Driffield RSPCA are having an Open Day, but I’m
sure if anyone wants to re-home a cat in the meantime, then I’m sure they’d
love to hear from you. They have a website - www.rspca-bridlington.org.

And did you see J.K. Rowling on Jonathan Ross’ show on Friday night? Well, she
had obviously been warned to keep tight-lipped about her latest book as fans
scour her every words for clues as to what will happen in the last of her epic
Harry Potter series. I’m sure that speculation will continue, but Joanne
revealed that two of the main characters will die in the last book, but
admitted that although she may not write about Harry again, she would “never
say never” about writing another book about wizards and magic. Her last book,
‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows’ will cap a series that has sold three
hundred and twenty-five million copies worldwide. That’s just incredible isn’t
it? Are you a Harry Potter fan? What do you think will be the outcome for the
young magician? Nearly 1.6 million copies of the final Harry Potter book have
been pre-ordered, before its release on the 21st July, so not long to go now
before we all find out!

Well, that's it from me. Have a good day whatever you’re doing and join me
tonight on BBC One at half past six.

Take care,

Peter
