While you're at it, can you clarify that spamtraps do not need to have
been "sown" specifically to trap spam? I've been auto-reporting my
several hundred spamtraps (nearly all either known munged bad addresses,
such as 'majordomoay@', 'rdomoay@', etc. or message-IDs from messages
posted through my system that have been publicly archived, scraped,
and added to "millions" CDs) for over a year. This accounts for more
than 40% of my spam since 5/23/02 (when I started also archiving such
spam instead of just piping it through razor).

I didn't expect that spammers would be so stupid as to spam Message-IDs,
but they do make fairly useful spamtraps, as do confirmed munged addys
that show up from time to time. And because I have my system configured
to accept 'catchall' addresses, basically any such messages sent to
those domains for which I am responsible may be recognized as munged
or scraped, and so added to my auto-reporting list.

Perhaps it would be useful to distinguish between acceptable practices
for mail admins as opposed to those for regular users?

Thanks,
Steve
