[Audyssey] railracer issue
Hi all. not sure if this is also for the registration system of rr but I decided to play today. I put on web posting. I get an error about trying to get my nickname then the program exits to the desktop everything looked ok. I was about to reload the program then maybe windows but I decided to check the serfvers for track and cash records. the servers seem to have config errors. and appear offline. so anyone wanting to play railracer online, can't which sucks i guess for those that want to. I was bored today and decided to try to have a game like try to get back up in the ranks. guess I won't bother now. --- Gamers mailing list __ Gamers@audyssey.org If you want to leave the list, send E-mail to gamers-unsubscr...@audyssey.org. Re: [Audyssey] WII Bowling
If there were a way for a totally blind person to accurately aim at the remaining pins, and know what they were, and know the result, I'd give it a try. Re: [Audyssey] Rock Band 3 will teach gamers how to play realinstruments.
lol! unfortunately that will be impossible since there will be no backward compatibility with current songs. only upcoming DLC after Rock Band 3's release will work with the new pro modes. I shall have lots of fun with the keyboard though since I actually play real keyboard. also the guitar I could always hook up to my computer or something and actually attempt to learn to play it. should be an interesting experiment for sure. this is the neat thing about these new instruments, that they'll work outside the game's interface. I think that's totally awesome. - Original Message - From: "Scott Chesworth" To: "Gamers Discussion list" Sent: Tuesday, June 22, 2010 5:51 AM Subject: Re: [Audyssey] Rock Band 3 will teach gamers how to play realinstruments. Really wouldn't hold out much hope on this as a teaching aid folks, every app/game that I've encountered thus far that aims to do that has done so with funky visuals but no usable clues. Is anyone picking this up, and if so will you be checking out pro mode? If you know how to play the real guitar, then that's basically what you'll be doing in pro mode. You'll play the real cords and notes from the actual song. keyboard is also similar except that you'll only have 25 keys that you can use. I doubt a real keyboard layout would've been feasible lol. Bohemian rhapsody will be one of the songs included in the game. man it would rock to play that song with a full band (Keys, guitar, bass, drums and 3-part vocal harmonies. it would sound totally awesome. The reason I ask this is in most sighted side-scrollers you can see the main character facing left or right, and when the character fires his/her weapon you can see the shot moving from left to right or from right to left. I thought it might be cool, although not necessary, to try and emulate this behavior through audio. What do you guys think? Re: [Audyssey] Panning Weapon Sounds in MOTA
Hi Thomas, I think this would be great especially with the sword and dagger. If you could have a swing and maybe metallic clank sound a little to the left or right of center depending on the way she is facing you would get more of a feeling that you were reaching out to hit a monster. Her punch sounds and whip cracks would be good in this respect too. Really wouldn't hold out much hope on this as a teaching aid folks, every app/game that I've encountered thus far that aims to do that has done so with funky visuals but no usable clues. Re: [Audyssey] Panning Weapon Sounds in MOTA
Hi Tom, I think the sound should initially be central, and then panned as the shot progresses. This will not only show you which direction she is facing, but also put a bit of realism since it will simulate the swing of the sword or the propulsion of the shot. Hope this helps. Re: [Audyssey] Panning Weapon Sounds in MOTA
Cool and realistic indeed, however, I do have a miner concern about similar sounds getting confused if they were on the same side, if for instance angela ends up in a sword fight or gun battle with another enemy. With the weapons in the positions they are, you can always be certain which are yours and which belong to enemies, and this would save giving an enemy's sword or gun a completely different sound. i only say this sinse I suspect more sword fights (not the least against athena herself), are forthcoming further down, and certainly in the Tomb raider series Lara had some human competition to deal with as well as the creatures in the various temples, so it wouldn't surprise me if Dr. Carter ends up with the same in a future installment of the series, or maybe even in Mota if there is an unexpected plot twist. Would be nice/cool. Not relevant/mildly off-topic, but when I specifically try panning sounds around when programming, it seems like lots of .wav files have some form of encoding corruption in them that makes the code crash, whereas other .wav files will sometimes work in exact same code - weird... Excuse the bad audio quality of the speech segments, I am not in my proper studio but rather in my little apartment with nothing but a little stereo mic to hook up. Warning! This spoils the ending of the game on the easy difficulty level, as well as everything else heard throughout the game. Don't download and listen to this unless you are prepared to hear all the cut scenes etc, in advance. The link is: http://www.blastbay.com/audio/q9_full_demo.mp3 Please let me know what you think. Re: [Audyssey] Panning Weapon Sounds in MOTA
that could be good, if you can hear the whine of the amo as it goes and also when it hits a target. At 06:56 p.m. 22/06/2010, you wrote: Hi everyone, Recently I've been thinking about the question of panning Angela's weapons left/right when she turns to face that direction, or weather I should just leave them centered as is the current case.
I think it would make it more realistic, just don't pan the sound completely left/right though. Kills a lot of audio if the file isn't mono.
