This is also a possible solution, but this means that Dave must have the 
possibility to create a Form for that purpose on the production server, 
and to remove it afterwards.  This would require at the very least 2 
Change Requests, and I know environments where such Change Requests 
would never be authorized

CHG:ChangeAPDetailSignature (which seems to do nothing) or against 
AP:Signature (where you have to use zTmpAppRequest to match the CRQ 
reference - but the import fails).


Has anyone done such an "automation" before?  Any suggestions/pointers?

Hello Dave,

I think that the Data Management module of ARSmarts could answer to your 
requirements.


Indeed, the reason why the approvals matching the Changes are not 
modified is probably because the workflow doing that job is not firing 
on Merge, and so is not triggered by your import.


The solution would be to trigger the workflow firing on Modify, through 
a Modify All operation.  Unfortunately, this does not seem possible 
through the standard Remedy interface.


What I would try is to use the ARSmarts Data Management module. Using 
ARSmarts Data Management, you can query your Change form to find the 
relevant Changes, and then perform a Modify All operation, putting the 
Changes in the desired Status, and the required values in the desired 
fields.


There is also a possibility that Active Links fire to enter some values 
in hidden fields.  Using ARSmarts Browser, you can find out what these 
AL are, and what they do, and then during the Modify All operation 
described above, insert the desired values in the these hidden fields so 
as to trigger the workflow.


I realize that my explanation might be a little cryptic, but if you want 
to bring it a step further, I'd be happy to send you a few screenshots 
to illustrate what I have in mind.  (I don't think that I can send 
screenshots on the ARSlist, so this would have to be via your own email).

Thought I'd let you know that the beta program for ARSmarts 4.0 SQL 
Studio is still open.


The SQL Studio gives you SQL access to your Remedy data, without the 
need of an SQL client (can be very useful in some environments). 
Furthermore, it allows you to take the result of an SQL query, and move 
it in a Remedy environment, where you can, for example, perform a Modify 
All operation and let the Filters fire.

Hello LJ,

ARSmarts can read macro's embedded in Active Links.  You can then 
obviously copy-paste them in a Notepad or any interface of your choice.


In fact, but don't spread the word ;-), you can even do that with the 
unlicensed version of ARSmarts if you have less than 10 AL with 
macro's.  You find them in 5 seconds, and then read them 1 by 1.

a release since 7.6.04, and those macros have never worked on Mid-Tier, which

Does it even work anymore? I had a license key years ago purchased
for me when working for a consulting firm called BearingPoint and
applied to one of my older laptop that I might have lying around
somewhere but didn’t bother to port it on my new hardware assuming
it may not be compatible with newer versions of the AR System.

Would the old key work with the new version of the utilities and
the new versions of ARS?

Here is something that happened to me a few weeks ago. Thought I would 
share that with you.


Still working as a back-up of my colleague for that customer. The 
customer contacts me: they urgently need a report “like this one”, 
running on the last two weeks. I look at the example they sent me: 
doesn't look too bad, it is just a list of records. Which fields from 
what Form, as a result of what query, … that I have to find out.


By looking at the columns titles in the report, I guess that the form 
must be something related to Quality Feedback or something in that 
direction. I scan the list of Forms in the Dev Studio: not easy to find 
something, as the Forms are ordered by prefix. Instead of scanning the 
list and opening Forms at random, I load the customer's .def file in 
ARSmarts. I search on Field Label for what looks like a distinctive name 
based on the report's columns titles. Bingo, I find just two Forms that 
I need to check. I also immediately check that these Forms are not 
included in Join Forms.


Next I open the User Tool (much more convenient than the web interface 
to generate reports), and open these two Forms. I quickly find the right 
one. Cool. So far, so good.


Then I start to build the report. Looking at what I received from the 
customer, I quickly find the first Fields that I must add to the report. 
But several fields are nowhere to be found in what I can see in the User 
Tool. Well, let's have a look in Dev Studio to see if I find some hidden 
Fields that could be candidate to contain the data that is displayed in 
that report. After a quick check: no such luck. There are quite a few 
hidden fields, but by looking at the names of the Fields, none of them 
looks like they could be what I'm looking for.


So I open ARSmarts Data Manager. I connect to the server, open the Form 
and run the query that gives me the same result as the example I 
received from the customer. There I see all the data fields. I look at 
the first record in the report, and so know what data I have to find in 
ARSmarts Data Manager. And there they are: a range of fields named 
zTmpTextx, with zTmpText1 containing a question and zTmpText2 the 
answer, etc. I need to include three answers in the report. I don't know 
how long it would have taken me to find this out without the Data Manager.


I can then use the User Tool to build the report in a few minutes. 
ARSmarts saved my day once again ;-) ;-).

Hello List,

During the holiday, I am on-call for one of our customers.  I have a 
good overall knowledge of their application (home made), but I don't 
know all the technical details.


While resolving an issue, I have to work on a monitoring form.  I would 
like to know how many records there are in the form, to know how careful 
I need to be.  Using ARSmarts Data Manager, I right-click on the Form 
name, and I have the answer: five thousands something, no problem.

[ADV] Resetting the ReconciliationID with ARSmarts.

Hello List,

Here is another example of how one of our consultants spared some 
cumbersome work (and precious time) by using ARSmarts.


Using normalization and reconciliation, create a reconciliation job with 
an Identify action.
Unfortunately, the identification rule is incorrect.  As a consequence, 
all the CI in my dataset received a newly generated ReconciliationID 
instead of receiving the ReconciliationID of my golden dataset.
In order to re-run the job, it is necessary to reset all 
ReconciliationIDs to 0 and the ReconciliationStatus to Ready to Merge.
Using ARSmarts Data Manager, it is quite simple to perform a Modify All 
operation on the relevant records, as you have access to all the Fields.


Without ARSmarts, you need to make the ReconciliationID field visible 
using the DevStudio.  If you use the Overlay feature, you need to create 
an Overlay for the View, and an Overlay for the Field.
Then wait for the Mid-Tier to re-cache (can you do this during business 
hours?).

Then you can perform the Modify All.
Then you delete the Overlay Field and the Overlay View.
Then the Mid-Tier refreshes his cache once again.

So it is certainly not impossible without ARSmarts, but it is clearly 
more cumbersome and can have serious performance impact.

Looks like I'm not the only one with the same idea . :-D.

I have been working with Remedy since 1997 (yes, the previous century 
...), beginning with version 2.3.  Like everybody, I have seen AR System 
replaced by ITSM/CMDB and I cried out loud 


I have recently been working on projects more at the ITIL level, where 
the supporting tool had already been chosen.  This gave me the 
opportunity to look at a number of other ITSM software packages, both 
from the end-user point of view and under the hood (admin and 
developer).  As far as I am concerned, AR System is miles ahead compared 
to other tools, while the ITSM/CMDB sold by BMC is just another app on 
the market.


If I may add something along the same line: applications such as ITSM8 
have become too complexe (and too big) for the European market (where 
companies are not as large as in the US).  I know for certain 3 
customers who tried to move from a previous version of Remedy ITSM to 
ITSM8 and after a year of effort gave up and have now completely dropped 
Remedy :-( :-(.  And there are more going down that path as we speak.  
If large applications make sense for large companies, it requires less 
consulting time to build a small ITSM app than to configure a large 
one, so offering AR System as a workflow engine makes a lot of sense to 
me (perhaps with a basic HelpDesk Template ).


Also, the ITIL market has offered a flourishing field to do business the 
last 15-20 years or so (remember back in 1998-1999, when Remedy had a 
50% market share ).  I think that the market is now mature, and all 
customers have what they need, so propose AR System as a more general 
workflow engine could be a step to diversification

Yes, it will.  In the Search screen, Fields tab, just check /Table 
Qualification/, and ARSmarts will search there as well.


An I forgot to mention, but when searching, you can restrict your search 
to Enabled workflow, for example, to get only relevant answers.

Show Relationships.  I have 150 objects that I have to check one
by one.

In ARSmarts:

Hi Jason, thanks for biting :-) :-) .

I apologize if I offended some of you.  It's just that I was so glad 
that ARSmarts could be so useful to its users.  Furthermore, I don't 
have much details about what the customer did, unfortunately.


That being said, I would be glad to share with the community here some 
detailed examples of how ARSmarts can help save time.  As I do not work 
deep in the bits and bytes anymore, I asked some of our users as well as 
my colleagues to feed me with detailed examples.  I will share them the 
minute I receive them.


For my part, and from my higher level point of view, here is an example 
of ARSmarts' added value:
I like to have .def files from the different environments 
(Dev-Test-Prod) on a regular basis.  This helps me to look back in the 
past if necessary (it worked last week, it doesn't work today; what has 
my team done the last two weeks; the customer says they did not touch 
the code, but I doubt it, ).  Using ARSmarts, I can generate .def 
files automatically, on a regular basis (daily, weekly depending of the 
developments going on).

The key advantages:
- .def generated automatically, meaning unattended, even if I am not on site
- no limitation of size (ITSM 8 is no problem)
- no impact on server performance (so I can generate .def files even 
from servers used 24x7)
- no ARSmarts license needed, so this is free of charge (and free is 
good ;-) :-) )

How can you do that:
- download ARSmarts from our website
- install ARSmarts on any Windows computer (be certain that the computer 
stays on at night if you schedule exports during night time)
- read the Appendix III in the ARSmarts User Guide so that you can 
create a command file (we'll call it ExportRemedyDefs.txt)
- in the command file, specify the servers from which you want to export 
the definitions, where to store the .def files, and other options
- open the Windows Scheduler, and schedule : arsmarts.exe -c 
ExportRemetyDefs.txt -o outputfile.txt and other options if needed.


I always choose to include in the batch operation the decode of the .def 
with ARSmarts and to save the file as ARSmarts Compiled File, so that I 
can open them quickly (1 min vs 20 min).


Hope this meets your expectations.  More detailed examples later 
(hopefully beginning of next week).

Error handler in guide

Hello friends,

I have a call guide filter which is having error handler filter enabled.

In the gudie, i have two push fields filters(F1 and F2) which pushes to two
forms FM1 and FM2.

First push field goes fine, but in the second push filter, i am getting an
error.

Now, the problem is that the push to form FM1 is not rolling back. It
should roll back.

I have both the filters  with `! sign.

I have also tried by putting error handler filter into the Filter 1 and 2,
but it did not work.

Please suggest, what can be the  issue.

I have problem related to sorting in Remedy. I have a web service which
create request in interface form01. On that interface form01  I have a
table field which loops all the incidents  and push into a interfaceform02.
And records from this form 02 are mapped as response to the web service.


With new web  service call, two sort order parameters are passed  sort
order1 and sort order2  ( Incident number, estimated resolved date or
Status) with flag as Assending or decending.

Now based on the information I need to sort the incidents and send back as
a response.

I can create table fields ( say 24 fields) and chose to loop based on the
request, but it is not a best solution.

I need to know how can I dynamically get the incidents from Hpd:helpdesk by
passing sorting field and flag as Accending/decending and send response to
web service.

e.g i will say give a all the incident first sorted by status- Assending
and second sorted by Incident number- decending. With the result, i pass
this information to web service response.

For this I have created some test cases for testing using remedy client and
web,

Problem with driver 7.6.04

I am running driver.exe 7.6.04 and I get the following error:
The ordinal 240 could not be located in the dynamic link library 
arapi7604_build002.dll

Indeed, the Dependency Walker shows i240 does not exist.
Any idea? Is there a more recent version of this DLL?

 sure how much BMC will help.

On the Incident or HPD:Help Desk form there is a field called 'Re-Opened Date'. 
The field is set by workflow. If it hold a value the ticket have been reopened. 
Search for 'Re-Opened Date' != $NULL$ should give you all the reopened tickets.

If you want to add status reason then  you have to follow below steps:

1. Add a record to the SYS:Status Reason Menu Items form 

2.Add status reasons in field called  Status Reason(100150) on
AST:Attribute 

3.Open the respective join form delete the Status Reason field from
form(in this case AST:BaseElement )

(Note : We have to Convert respective form to custom from base  because we
are getting error  no delete flag is enabled on regular form  )

4. Again add the that field from AST:Attribute in that join 

5.then check the field values are reflected on join form or not 

 

Then When you create records status reason value will save on form .  :)

I have not found directions for adding new Status Reason for Asset UIs and
could not find a corresponding Status Reason_Hidden field on the BMC Base
Element form.

 

I added a record for the new Status Reason on the SYS:Status Reason Menu
Items form. The new Status Reason can be selected on any Asset UI but when
the record is saved, the selected Status Reason does not save.

2.   We can also include the HTML code in the 'Email Message Field' in
SYS:Notification Messages form to format the text which include color,
size etc.

3.   We can also use the Header and footer template in the mailbox that
we configured in the AR System Email Mailbox Configuration form

The tool make a photograph of the application ARS remedy using Api remedy.
This picture takes on average 15 minutes; only in this moment ARSurf connects to
the application server remedy.
During this fifteen-minutes connection, on the machine where the exe Arsuf is
launched, a proprietary DB is created.
All searches explained on the user manual ARSurf are carried out offline on the
proprietary DB ARSurf.
No search is launched online on the application server remedy.
Concerning the compatibility we confirm our product has been checked and tested
on server remedy 7.5, 7.6 and 8.1.
Altought one-year test, it is likely that there will be few bugs but they
absolutely don't interfere with the application server remedy.

I have been experimenting with Tasks/Templates/Group Templates for a good
chunk of the day and have not been able to get the desired flow. Basically I
want to create a Work Order, use a Task Group Template and then once the
Status of the Work Order is set In-Progress, the tasks are assigned one at a
time in order without further human intervention.

 

I am doing this with Work Orders but should apply to the other applications.
I want to create 5 Task Templates and put them in a Task Group Template,
sequenced 1-5.  Each Task is for a different Assigned Group and the Assignee
is blank. Can't use the assignment engine to assign to a person.

 

What happens OOB: When the status of Work Order to In-Progress, the Status
of the first Task changes to Pending/Assignment and 2-5 are Staged. Then
someone has to set the Status to Assigned. Once the first Task is Closed,
the second becomes Pending/Assignment and someone has to assign that one
out. Same for tasks 3-5.

 

What I need to have happen:  When the status of Work Order to In-Progress,
the Status of the first Task changes to Assigned and 2-5 are Staged. Then
when the first Task is Closed, the second becomes Assigned. Same for tasks
3-5.

 

Is that possible? I would think so and I am just not getting what the guide
is saying.

the basis of the basics in terms of finding your way in workflow, and 
your question will be answered in ARSmarts in 3 to 4 clicks.  ARSmarts 
will also show you the Foreign Objects (objects that interact with a 
Form but are not attached to it, e.g.: Push Field actions, table fields, 
...), will allow you to Search (very detailed if you need to),

The search feature isn't really the best for getting a list of 
filters that relate to a form. The best way to do that is with a 
working list. If you create a view by form working list and select 
the forms you want, then use the icon in the top right of that screen 
to view by type, that is probably the closest thing you are looking 
for. The view by type screen will allow you to sort by all the 
normal options like execute on and enabled


The search is good for finding embedded strings within code. Things 
like specific error messages or run process commands.


Show relationships is also good for quickly finding all kinds of 
workflow that relate to a specific field or other objects.

Audit and Ignore Filters option.

I was wondering if the Ignore Filters option respects the auditing 
settings.


In other words, if I have a Form with a field that is audited, and if I 
then do an Import of data and that I flag the Ignore Filters option, 
will the field be audited?

With  v7.6.04.
As mentioned below I also found field 'Total Time Spent' on 'Work Order' 
WOI:Work Info form. I made it visible 'true'  checked by creating one work
order request, I didn't get any value in this field even request was closed.
Apart from this which I found as OOTB solution is 'Actual Start date' and
'Actual end date' fields. These fields are present in 'Dates' tab/panel on
Work Order form which is hidden. Even I checked for these dates by flowing
one WO request, still I didn't found any values for these fields. I checked
it for all status till complete,it has not asked me for any date inputs.
Furthermore I didn't found any OOTB configuration that will make these date
fields required while moving wo request from one status to another.

Looking towards this OOTB behavior we can calculate 'Total Time Spent' based
on two fields i.e.'Actual Start date' and 'Actual end date'. We need to
create our own work flows  which will set these two fields automatically
based on conditions. We can give following conditions for 
1.Status =AssignedActual Start date.
2.Status=completed--Actual end date. and
3.'Total Time Spent'=Actual end date-Actual Start date.

read that when the attachment is saved in the B  table it has some BMC coding 
and thus can not be accessed directly using sql.

Question about ARSmarts Foreign Objects functionality

Hello List,

We have a question about the Foreign Objects functionality of ARSmarts, 
and we would like your input.


_What is the Foreign Objects functionality?

_ In the ARSmarts Show Objects window (where you browse through Forms, 
Filters, ...), select a Form.  Then you can browse through the Fields, 
Filters, Active Links, ... _attached to this Form_. There you also find 
the Foreign Objects tab that lists all the objects that interact with 
the Form, but _are not attached_ to the Form.  Eg: a Filter attached to 
Form A and performing a Push Field to Form B is a Foreign Object of Form 
B, a Table Field on Form A showing records from Form B will be a Foreign 
Object of Form B,

about Foreign Objects.


_The question:

_As mentioned above, a Filter attached to Form A that does a Push Field 
to Form A is _not_ listed in the Foreign Objects of Form A.  A Table 
Field on Form A that lists records from Form A is _not_ listed in the 
Foreign Objects of Form A.


One of our users is asking that these objects would be included in the 
list of Foreign Objects.

Outlook encapsulates the body of an email into an attachment (postdata.att) 
which cannot be parsed. Prior versions of Microsoft Office are processed 
normally. Talked to Engineering regarding the postdata.att attachment not being 
processed by the email engine. This is expected because the email engine does 
not process attachments (unlike text messages that can be parsed). Also, the 
data that is inside the attachment is not in email engine template format (it 
is encoded).
Solution
Remedy Engineering's opinion is that the user should open a tar with Microsoft 
to allow Outlook 2003 to send Internet mail that conforms to Internet mail 
standards.
In short, Outlook 2003's behavior when sending a web-based form does not meet 
Remedy's published standards for parsable incoming email data.

We have users who uses outlook 2003 and 2007 or later.

I have a customized Remedy Application. It uses Email Server to send mails. A 
template is attached to the outgoing email. The outgoing mails are going fine 
with the template for outlook 2003/2007 or later. But no incoming mail for 
version 2003 only.

When user reply to the email from Outlook application V2003, no incoming email 
is received in Remedy. Actually, the reply from customer should attached to the 
Incident ticket as a worklog entry.

This is working fine for user who reply email from Outlook version 2007 or 
later. I need to find the solution to make it work from outlook 2003.

There is KB entry from BMC related to this issue.


Please suggest the possible solutions to make it happen for Outlook 2003. 

I could think two possible options:

1. The format of the incoming mail is not accepted by Remedy, so try to modify 
the template such that it is expected by remedy.

2 Write some logic to remove the template from incoming mails. When user reply 
to the email received from Remedy, it will come back to remedy with the 
template sent by Remedy.


Please share your valuable suggestions.

Hi,

I have drilled down further into this issue.

SLM:EventSchedule:TAD_PollingEscalation is triggered.

This escalation will fire on the SLM:EventSchedule form every 5 minutes, which 
will in turn fire other filters which will then push updates to the 
HPD:Help Desk form and as a result update the SLM status field.

Once SLA is attatched to Incident entries are created on SLM:EventSchedule 
for each Goal Type. Once the timing is reached to particular Goal type this 
entries are deleted from SLM:EventSchedule and Goal type is updated on 
SLM:Measurement form which further updates the SLM status on HPD:HelpDesk.

SLM:EventSchedule:TAD_PollingEscalation this escalation fires all filters.
The time period of this escalation is 5minutes it's a OOTB.
Changing the time period of this escalation will resolve the issue Keep it to 3 
minutes.
Or Set the Escalation Pool and increase the Escalation thread.

Issue: When an incident is created, the active link 
INT:HPDSLM:INC:SLAStatus_150_Green is responsible for changing the color of the 
SLMDVF field to green. It looks for the value SLM Status = Within The Service 
Target. The issue here is, the color change is getting delayed, say it takes 4 
to 5 minutes to turn green. On checking, the value for SLM Status on HPD:help 
Desk form  is blank for 4 to 5 minutes. Also the creation of corresponding 
entries on SLM:Measurement form are delayed.

Hi,

 

I have worked on Exchange Server in one project where the version of remedy
was same and exchange server was 2007.

We agree that there is some issue with MAPI protocol but it works fine with
POP3 (Incoming Email) for Exchange Server version 2010.

As per compatibility matrix for email engine 7.6.04 that supports : 
Microsoft Exchange 2000, 2003 SP1, 2007 (64-bit).

Since it is mentioned that there is migration from 2007 to 2013, so I
suggest to take support of BMC to check compatibility for Exchange server
2013 for Remedy 7.6.04 as Exchange Server 2013 is newer version.

According to me no need to change the user to Non-support we can use the
arreload.exe utility for this.

Location of file arrelaod.exe is: C:\Program Files\BMC Software\ARSystem
(Your installation directory)

The arreload utility executes the BMC Remedy AR System interface that
enables you to empty the access control cache on one or more BMC Remedy AR
System servers and reload it from a particular User or Group form. If you
experience problems with permissions or behaviors in the Group or User form,
the cache might need to be emptied and reloaded. Run arreload to reload the
cache.

arreload -a adminUser [-o portNumber] {-u|-g} schema
[-f] [-p  adminPassword] [-h  serverNameValue] [-d]

You can specify the following option in any order on the command line.
Enclose attributes in double quotation
marks:

-f - Deletes all user or group requests from the cache on the specified
target computers before reloading
from the source computer. This option is useful for clearing out obsolete
definitions that are no longer
recognized.

I noticed yesterday that when tickets were assigned to groups, we were
getting Undeliverable messages back from the mail server.  All of these
were notifications (A ticket has been assigned to your group.) that appear
to have been sent to users who are no longer with the organization, and
whose profiles in Remedy are Obsolete.   

 

I've gone in and changed these Obsolete users to Non-Support.  Is there
something I should be doing differently?  This is what we've been doing for
years and it's only come up as a problem in the past 2 days.

I have a scenario where we have configured our own SSO plugin on a server
that has 1 midtier installed. now, customer has exposed this on public IP so
that it can be accessed over internet. however, when accessed over internet,
it asks for windows authentication.

 

To resolve this, we have planned to install one more mid-tier instance on
the same machine and expose this on public ip so that they dont get prompted
for windows authentication and login using remedy native authentication.

 

we cant install the 2nd mid tier on a different machine due to
unavailability.

 

when we try to install 2nd mid-tier on the same machine, installer says it
will upgrade the existing mid-tier even if we chose new installation in the
beginning. any ideas?

Hi Rick,

Its because of structural difference in 7.1 and 7.6 its not good to import
SRD's from 7.1 to 7.6

It could have been done in two ways :

1. By Import/Export Utility.
 It works for same version

2. By taking report( *.arx, *.xml , *.csv)  
 Field mapping are not same for forms in different versions.

*  In 2.2 we don't have variable mapping feature as that of 7.6.

As per my understanding of issue, to achieve the requirement modify NaviSIte
to type as 'Customer, Operating'
and while giving Access restriction from people form select NaviSIte name
from Customer category.
However I tried to change one of company to same, it is not coming under
'Customer' category in 
people form-Access Restriction tab. It is coming under 'Operating'
category.

Understanding significance of field '112' and '60900' in ITSM can help to
resolve this issue.

HI All,

 

Working with 6.3 we have a homegrown Trouble Ticket and Change Request.
Anyone in the company with a Remedy account and a write license can see any
TT/CR and modify any  regardless of assignment. Currently we are moving to
ITSM 7.6.04 which is a significant change for us. AS you probably have
already guessed some of the challenges for my users is trying to maintain
old work habits on a new system.  

 

The Tier 1 NOC has ownership over all Incidents so of course they have
unrestricted access to all of the Incidents. When the incident is assigned
out to a tier 2 group, members of that group also have access to the
incident. The CRM's state that they require write access to the incidents
even when the incident is not owned or assigned to the CRM group.

 

My original thought was to give the CRM's the Application Permission -
Incident Master and restrict access to their customer companies. Works good.
Then the CRM's said they also needed access to the operating company. So I
tried that in dev, adding the operating company (NaviSIte) to the
restriction list. Appears to work fine in the Overview Console but all
customers appear in the Incident Console or when doing a search on a field
other than company all customer appear and have unrestricted access. 

 

One suggestion was to modify NaviSite so it is an operating company and a
customer. First I am not sure if it can be done, or if this would invoke the
restriction. So I thought I would check with the group before giving this a
try. Also if anyone has run into this before, how did you solve it?

Following is the Steps to resolve.

Step 1. Take the backup of the change request(*.arx).
Step2.  Reset the value Active Approval(selection Field) in backup.

Note: Active Approval is not in the view when we open/modify a Change
Request.

This will resolve the issue.

Change Management - Pending state with the status reason of Approval Error

 

When a Change Request Status is set to Pending and the Status Reason is
Approval Error - is there a way to make the request actionable? Using the
Process Flow Status ribbon, the user can slect Resume. The change appears
to move to the next Status but it doesn't.

 

I have found several reasons why the change may be Pending state with the
status reason of Approval Error but nothing to recover the Change Request.
Any assistance is appreciated.

IF you want Delete filter to function you need to
Perform the following steps:
1. Go to Developer Studio 
2. Create Overlay of NTE:Notifier(NTE:Notifier Log)
form
3. Open NTE:Notifier(NTE:Notifier Log) form
4. Go to Form Menu option and add/remove field to
the view and add field z1D_Action to the view and save
5. Open the NTE:Notifier(NTE:Notifier Log)form in
Mid_tier search the records and type in z1D_Action=DELETE (if you want to
delete all then select All records and then Modify All
type in z1D_Action=DELETE)
6. Save the request/requests
7. Request/requests will get deleted through
filters(NTE:NTS:Delete_800,NTE:NTL:Delete_795 confirm)
 
We can achieve the same on

So I was troubleshooting an issue that caused me to search the NTE:Notifier
and NTE:Notifier Log Forms. I had expected NOT to find any records in
either form except where there might be an error on the record. 

 

I thought (and the Delete Filters, NTE:NTS:Delete_800 and
NTE:NTL:Delete_795 confirm) that there should not be any records. Except I
found over 48,000. 

 

Do I just delete the records? What are the implications/complications of
leaving them other than increasing the size of the database? Issues to be
aware of if I delete them? How do I get the delete filters to function?

  There are 21 spread sheet tabs(sheet(tab) 2 CTM:People and tab 15
CTM:PeopleWorklog)  on the spreadsheet file People.xls which we keep in
folder: C:\Program Files (x86)\BMC
Software\DataManagementClient\7.6\Spreadsheets\Foundation. 

After converting this file to CSV we import this CSV Files, So when data
gets imported before promoting we need to validate it.

So for resolving the issue of 108:invalid person which is on tab 15
CTM:PeopleWorklog we need to validate all the records on the tab 2
CTM:People.

Errors on the tab(sheet) 2  can be like 118-invalid company, 119-invalid
department, 162-invalid client type. we need to correct these errors first
then validate again error 108-Invalid Person gets resolved.

Windows 2008 R2 Server running against MS SQL.  Running user tool on the
server.

 

I've uploaded via the Data Load Console about 4 records into the People
form.  Now, I'm trying to load associated Work Log/work history.

 

I'm using the People spreadsheet and have loaded tab 15 with the
information.  Everything is being loaded with an Activity Type of General
Information.  Each entry has the same Person ID as the corresponding record
already in CTM:People.

 

The problem that I am having is every record when I validate is coming back
with an error 108 - Invalid Person.

 

I've followed the workflow on the CTM:LoadPeopleWorkLog form, and from what
I see, the person id should be validated almost immediately as the record
exists in CTM:People, but obviously, something is going wrong

 

Has anybody ever seen this happen before?

For v7.6.04 SP1,

When we create CI's from Asset console the reconciliation Id's gets generated 
for that CI.
Which is different for all CI's created from AM console. But when we create CI 
from respective class(form) from
user tool other than for BMC.ASSET dataset Reconciliation Id doesn't get 
generated for those CI's.

The given issue is  occurred due to same reconciliation Id for multiple CI from 
one class created for particular organization.
From above information I will suggest that if you want only one CI should  
relate to People with 'used by'
association create CI's directly into ASSET dataset. However providing 
different recon Id for each CI will resolve this issue,
it will create same issue when perform reconciliation Identity job for CI's in 
different dataset.

I have about a dozen new CIs in the Hardware Package class (two HW packages, 
each with multiple versions), and I want to associate Companies to them as 
individual associations.  The only real differences between the CIs are the 
Name, Model/Version, and Short Description.  They have the same Product

So I go to the People tab on the CI, answer the dialogs to associate the CI as 
a Used By by the Company/Organization, and it all works.  Except that it also 
associates all of the other CIs in that class (and perhaps others, I haven't 
checked yet) with the same relationship to the same company.  Deleting the 
relationship from one also deletes it from all of the records.

 

What I want is to be able to relate these one at a time.  I don't see a way to 
do that, though I thought that was the way it functioned.

 

I did verify that the Filter in play is NOT doing a table walk, so it isn't 
related to that.  The logs show the Filter is firing one time, updating one 
record.

 

What am I doing that is causing what I'm seeing, and how can I make the 
relationship for only one record at a time?

If question is a radio buttons/check boxes or menu,we can add conditions to
question. For 1st level question, if there are 3 options in Radio
button/check box or menu,we can add three conditions.But we can't add
condition within one conditional question i.e we cannot add condition on
next level of the question. 

I found that only one level of conditional question is supported.

under BMC.CORE:BMC_LAN and CI Type can be Connection- Connectivity
Collection in Asset Management. For Further clarification you can also refer
to BMC Atrium CMDB 7.6.04 Data Modeling Guide. And relationship can be
defined as BMC_HostedAccessPoint.

As per my knowledge arsvcdsp.exe files most often have description AR System 
Application Command Dispatcher.
You can find it running in Task Manager as the process arsvcdsp.exe. 
In armoniter you can check that if it is started or not, eg:-
c:\program files\bmc software\arsystem\arsvcdsp.exe Wed Jul 08 11:01:33 2009  
 (ARNOTE 0) Wed Jul 08 11:01:33 2009 ARMonitor child process (pid:3508) 
started.
In C:\Program Files\BMC Software\ARSystem we can find arsvcdsp as type 
application.
As process is any piece of S/w that is running on a computer and an application 
is generally a process that a user has to start so i think their might not be 
any arsvcdsp .log
but this process used by approval server or to run the instance of server group 
then we can have logs for approval server, application pending etc.

ARSmarts Data Manager now available

Hello List,

Yesss, finally we are there.  It took more time than expected, but 
we can now announce that the Data Manager, new module of ARSmarts is 
available.


With the Data Manager, you have direct access to the data of your AR 
System applications, without going through the Remedy GUI (which is 
great for end-users, but sometime in the way of techies...).  The Data 
Manager offers access to ALL the data fields of EVERY form, in a 
database-like table format.  Obviously, you can create, search for and 
modify records, but you can also Copy-Paste records between forms and 
between servers, and other cool things that will save you plenty of time 
and sometime a nervous breakdown ;-)

ARSmarts Data Manager beta program ended.

The beta program for the Data Manager module of ARSmarts has come to an 
end.  We would first like to thank all those who found the time to 
participate to the program from the start.  Thank you for your time and 
patience, we hope it was worth it.


That being said, we received great feedback regarding the Data Manager 
module, with a number of suggestions for new functionalities.  Some of 
them will be implemented in this version of ARSmarts, others in future 
versions.


We are now working on the GA version of ARSmarts 3.0, which will be 
available soon.  We will definitely keep you posted.

Edit diary fields with ARSmarts Data Manager

Hello List,

Still in our beta program, a new build of ARSmarts is available on our 
website.  This new build implement some interesting new functionalities:


- in the Data Manager module, right-click on a Form, and in the 
contextual menu you will find the number of rows in that Form (not 
fundamental, but still useful).


- in the Data Manager, you now have the possibility to edit values in 
diary fields.  This means that, besides adding data, you can modify 
existing entries and also delete existing entries of diary fields.  
IMPORTANT: when editing or deleting existing entries, you must use a 
Merge (Update old records with ...) operation to save your changes.  
This is not documented yet.


- in the Data Manager, you also have the possibility to edit core

What's the easiest way to clear the values from a diary field? Or is there

It seems it cannot be done through a filter or escalation.

The beta program for ARSmarts Data Manager is now open.

The Data Manager is a new ARSmarts module. Where the
existing modules work with AR System definitions, the Data
Manager gives you direct access to the data of your Remedy
applications.

Using ARSmarts Data Manager, you have *direct access to all
your data (ALL the fields of EVERY form)*, presented in a
simple, readable database-like format.

You can create and modify records, perform exports, and also
Copy - Paste records between forms and between AR System
servers. The Data Manager is directed to the Remedy technical
people working with large applications such as ITSM. This

The workaround could be as follows:

 

To restore the job on server A, job can be exported in an .arx file, but in
the process of exporting the job, the reconciliation console copies the
export information to clipboard and then you need to paste it in a text
editor and save it as .arx. 

In the pdf it is strictly mentioned that, do not use Microsoft notepad it
does not save the carriage returns and line feeds (CR+LF) properly this
could be the reason for Java.Lang.ArrayOutofbounds Exception.

 

Also while importing we use command: dataimport.bat -x ServerName -u
UserName -p Password -a Port -o ImportFile -l LogFile -e 179 -D 4
which has an option of log file, the log file generated while importing can
give a better information on this error.

One Sandbox RE job definition is no longer on Server B.  

Data was replicated from one server to another server, and different people
were involved.

We have a copy of the same Sandbox RE job definition on Server A.

How do you restore this one RE job from Server A to Server B?  

I know that RE jobs can be exported to a .arx file and then imported.  

However, the problem is Java.Lang.ArrayOutofbounds Exception 9 errors are
preventing the import.  The .arx file just opens and does nothing.

 

Do I have to re-create the entire job on Server B (from a copying the RE job
on Server A)?

If I do re-create the job on Server B, and the RE job has a different
instance ID than what was OOB - will this be a problem?

This is a configuration issue

Check whether your Create Request on Submit option is enabled or not.

Go to - Application Administration Console  Custom Configuration Tab  
Incident Management  Advanced Options  Rules

Make sure the create request on submit radio button is set to NO

Hi,

You can do following things to achieve your expected result.

1.Take all the mandatory fields including 'z1D_Action' on form.
2.Push all required fields to create a incident ticket. In filter on Push field 
action set the CREATE operation to 'z1D_Action' on Incident_Interface_Create 
form.
After doing this the incident ticket will get successfully created.

I’ve created a form with an AL that pushes fields to Incident Interface_Create 
on After Submit and a Button Field.  It’s not working.  I’ve looked through 
List postings and see where lots of you do this with a Filter on Merge.  
Problem with that is you can’t save with a button when using a Filter.  

We created a form a couple of years back (on 7.5) using an AL with the same 
Execution Options as the AL which I’m having a difficult time with.  Logging 
shows Passed Qualification for the AL but doesn’t create a ticket.  Even if I 
enter those same fields directly in Incident Interface Create it shows me Sumit 
Successful: ID 206, but still doesn’t create a ticket.  Any ideas 
would be greatly appreciated or lead me to documentation on this. I’ve searched 
but there doesn’t seem to be any.

Hi,

 

ClientCore.js is the 'heart' of Javascript 'scripts' for the web browser and
the mid-tier. It's available for several web browsers (for ex. IE,
Firefox...etc). 

 

You can find those in folder '/arsys/resources/ie/' for example.

 

You can try this way. But make sure that this is the error by use IE 8 and
go to developer tools and make sure that the error is Search
FocusMgr.WorkflowComplete()

 

1. Go to MidTier path C:\Program Files\AR
System\Mid-Tier\resources\ie\javascript. And backup ClientCore.js file as
ClientCore_backup.js.

2. Modify ClientCore.js

3. Search FocusMgr.WorkflowComplete(); in the file, and delete this line,
and save the file.

4. Flush cache your mid-tier

5. Try to reproduce the issue

This can be achieved as follows.

 

The Selection code cannot be modified later hence it is grayed out. The
status reason selection code is not generated automatically, it has to be
entered manually. Besides this selection code must match with the ID of menu
item in the hidden field Status_Reason_Hidden.

 

That means, if the custom status reason has got id as 20001 in
Status_Reason_Hidden then the value of selection code for that status
reason in the SYS:Status Reason Menu Item must be 20001.

 

When selecting the status, the workflow checks for two things

 

Firstly, status name added to status reason hidden field is present in the
form SYS:Status Reason Menu Item or not.

 

Secondly the id of the menu item matches with the selection code or not

 

To solve the given issue the entry must be deleted (as selection code cannot
be modified later) a new entry must be created with same name as added in
the status reason hidden field and selection code as ID in the status
reason hidden field.

Having an issue customizing the status reason. I am adding additional values
to it on the HPD:Help Desk Form. 

I have added the values in status_reason_hideen field.
I have added the values to the SYS:Status Reason Menu Item.

However, the Selection code on SYS:Status Reason Menu Item has been greyed
out and  blank; i cannot modify it. When i save the new value in this form,
it also does not generate automatically.

I recently made the same change to WOI:WorkOrder and it worked as expected.

Why is the selection code greyed out?

Any assistance would be appreciated.
