He addresses how many Jews would react to Bob's apparent beliefs. Great timing Bob, I'm sure the Seattle Jewish Community will be thrilled to read your in-depth analysis of the value of the old testament to society. Bob, do us a favor and stick to something you know about- Bevan: On Jan. 21 in Paris, a gang of Muslims intent on kidnapping Jews kidnapped 23-year-old Ilan Halimi. Reciting verses from the Koran in phone conversations demanding money from the family, they ultimately rejected the money and tortured Halimi to death. They kept him naked for weeks while they cut him up and finally poured flammable liquid over his skin and burned him alive. When Jews read this story, they see themselves as Halimi and think that such a thing could happen to them somewhere in the world today and somewhere in the world at any time in the past. If you want to understand how Jews think and behave, you must first understand how large antisemitism and the Holocaust loom in the psyche, emotions and minds of the vast majority of Jews. It could not be otherwise. While ethnic, racial, religious and national hatreds are as old as mankind, none has been as universal and as deep as hatred of Jews. Jew-hatred was given the name anti-Semitism only in 1879 by a German anti-Semite named Wilhelm Marr. The term is entirely misleading since it has nothing to do with Semites. Jews may be Semites, but so are Arabs, and antisemitism never meant hatred of Arabs, only of Jews. Jew-hatred or antisemitism has been so deep that tens of millions of people have equated the Jews with the devil and many more have desired that the Jews be erased from the Earth. Such an attempt was made only one generation ago in what is called the Holocaust (or Shoah, the Hebrew term). This was the German Nazi attempt to murder every Jewish man, woman and child, which resulted in the murder of two out of every three Jews in Europe. To give an idea of how many Jews have been murdered for being Jews, all one needs to do is look at population statistics. Scholars estimate the population of the Roman Empire at about 60 million at the time of Jesus. According to the dean of Jewish historians, Professor Salo Baron, at that time Jews comprised about 10 percent of the population. That means that 2,000 years ago there were about 6 million Jews. It is also estimated that at that time, the world's population was about 200 million. Today the world's population is over 6 billion. While the world's population is about 30 times larger than 2,000 years ago, the Jewish population has barely doubled. Had Jews been left alone to procreate at the same rate as others, there would be about 180 million Jews in the world today. Moreover, even the 6 million number for the Roman empire represented a huge loss of population due to extensive killing of Jews in the 12 centuries from their inception. It is true that Jewish population losses have been also due to assimilation, but this assimilation was itself overwhelmingly a result of persecution Not true...at least not true for America: today, 50% of Jews marry non-Jews and this is NOT a result of persecution. Jews in America enjoy a freedom of living unprecedented in history when considering Jews living as a minority in a country. [snip] Here's something on that book from Amazon.com: Most recently in the spotlight as one of the many defense lawyers attending O. J. Simpson in his first criminal trial, attorney Alan M. Dershowitz is also a powerful advocate for the liberal Jewish tradition in this country. In an earlier book, Chutzpah, Dershowitz celebrated an end to Jewish isolation and institutional anti- Semitism in America; in his latest book, The Vanishing American Jew, he decries the perhaps inevitable result of this desegregation: assimilation. Dershowitz writes powerfully about his fear that, with nothing to struggle against and no powerful motivation to maintain traditions, American secular Jews will, within a few generations, lose their Jewishness. The author writes from a privileged position: raised an Orthodox Jew, he embraced secular Judaism in his young adulthood and thus comes equipped with an intimate understanding of what he has chosen to reject and accept. Though Dershowitz has no definitive answers for the problem of The Vanishing American Jew, the questions he raises may be the first step in discovering a solution. --This text refers to the Hardcover edition. From my brother: I dislike Letterman, but he occasionally nails a thing right on the head. Apparently, professional controversialist Ann Coulter went on some cable interview show and claimed that Clinton's rampant promiscuity does show some level of latent homosexuality. Hence, you be free from acquisition and protection. And also be atmavan, self-collected, vigilant. This is the advice given to you while you are engaged in your own duty. [And not from the point of view of seeking Liberation.] A vishiSTaadvaita view of the same (Shrii Raamaanuja): 2.45 The word Traigunya means the three Gunas --- Sattva, Rajas and Tamas. Here the term Traigunya denotes persons in whom Sattva, Rajas and Tamas are in abundance. The Vedas in prescribing desire-oriented rituals (Kamya-karmas) have such persons in view. Because of their great love, the Vedas teach what is good to those in whom Tamas, Rajas and Sattva preponderate. If the Vedas had not explained to these persons the means for the attainment of heaven etc., according to the Gunas, then those persons who are not interested in liberation owing to absence of Sattva and preponderance of Rajas and Tamas in them, would get completely lost amidst what should not be resorted to, without knowing the means for attaining the results they desire. Hence the Vedas are concerned with the Gunas. Be you free from the three Gunas. Try to acquire Sattva in abundance; increase that alone. The purport is: do not nurse the preponderance of the three Gunas in their state of inter-mixture; do not cultivate such preponderance. Be free from the pairs of opposites; be free from all the characteristics of worldly life. Abide in pure Sattva; be established in Sattva, in its state of purity without the admixture of the other two Gunas. If it is questioned how that is possible, the reply is as follows. Never care to acquire things nor protect what has been acquired. While abandoning the acquisition of what is not required for self-realisation, abandon also the conservation of such things already acquired. You can thus be established in self- control and thereby become an aspirant after the essentail nature of the self. 'Yoga' is acquisition of what has not been acquired; 'Ksema' is preservation of things already acquired. Abandoning these is a must for an aspirant after the essential nature of the self. If you conduct yourself in this way, the preponderance of Rajas and Tamas will be annihilated, and pure Sattva will develop. Besides, all that is taught in the Vedas is not fit to be utilised by all. She showed her presentation on the medical effects of nuclear war (I've seen it...it's horrifying, and something that really hasn't been seen by most people on the planet *including* most of the world leaders since the 1950s) at a symposium at which Gorbachev was present. According to her, after the presentation he wept openly onstage (Gorbachev has children), held her hand and promised to do what he could to end the madness. Shortly afterwards the first real advances in nuclear disarmament began to take place. Just a comment with regard to your belief that one person can make a difference. Nukes are not an option. [FairfieldLife] Re: Master's article, May 2005
Aiding the cause of peace by the Master , through Benjamin Creme It is frequently the case that, in acting for what is seen by them as the good of the world, countries wreak havoc on a world scale. So dense are the fogs of glamour which surround their actions, so illusory is their thinking, that great harm may be done, and much pain and suffering caused, for the best of reasons. Thus it is today. In recent times, the USA, under the banner of `the war against terrorism', has invaded Afghanistan and Iraq, causing thousands of civilian deaths and great physical damage to their infrastructures. The Taliban, fanatical and rigid but, in the main, uninvolved in terrorism, are dispersed but are now regrouping, training in the skills of terror. In Iraq, Saddam Hussein is no more, but a terrible legacy of deprivation and suffering, lawlessness and chaos, has replaced his baleful regime. Now the attention of the US administration has turned to Syria, Iran and North Korea; they are warned to change or face the wrath and might of the upholders of `peace', and the champions of `liberty' in the world. Thus does America plunge the world into the atmosphere of stress and fear, and thus do these give fruit to epidemics and natural disasters, which, in turn, serve to increase the fear and stress. Dangerous What can be done to stabilize this dangerous situation? How can the nations keep America in check? By what means can ordinary people bring their weight to bear? These are large questions and have, indeed, no simple answers. They require wisdom of an exceptional order and a co-ordinated approach. Firstly, the world must realize the true nature of the problem: the USA today is led by men responsive to a nefarious energy which prompts their actions and puts peace in jeopardy. It stimulates their glamour for power of an international extent, and threatens the peace of the world. It has outposts in Israel and Eastern Europe, Israel being the major focus. This destructive energy derives, though in diminished potency, from that which plunged the world into chaotic war during the twentieth century and which, men thought, was safely put to rest. It can be seen, therefore, how necessary it is that there be peace in the Middle East; how necessary it is that the Palestinians have true justice and a viable homeland. This is the most important problem facing men today. Failure to solve it would be disastrous for the world. Overcome It will take the combined resources of wisdom and will of both Hierarchy and men to overcome, finally, this malignant force. A clear understanding by men of the true nature of the threat is thus imperative. Men must organize and act in unison. They must call for an end of oppression of the Palestinian people and so end the fear which haunts the people of Israel. The United Nations must bring all possible pressure to bear on both America and Israel, standing up to the superpower and aid the cause of peace. The peoples of the world are already on the march. They must raise their voices and demand that peace be theirs. They are the inheritors of the future and must fashion it in peace. We, the Masters, your Elder Brothers, will do Our part but We are hampered by your lack of understanding and will. Hence these words. Act without fear. [FairfieldLife] todays course update: Record Gains
Wall Street Soars! Posts Record Gains During First Week of Invincibility Course Group of 1200 Yogic Flyers in Washington , D.C. , and Iowa Creating a Coherent, Invincible Nation "We Are Transforming America Before the Eyes of the World, Watch What Happens Tomorrow" HEADLINES OF THE WEEK July 24 - 30, 2006 Good News Generated by the Invincible America Course CNBC: "Wall Street Euphoria" CNBC: "Blissful Shock" MSNBC: "Market Sizzles: Wall Street chalks up best weekly gain since 2005" Briefing.com: "Stocks surge across the board" The Washington Post: "Oil prices fall as US takes step to end Mid-east war" (July 29, 2006) The good news is now in from the first week of the Invincible America Course. The stock market soared this week, posting its highest weekly gain in 14 months, and the price of oil dropped sharply as the U.S. mobilized international support for a Mideast cease fire. Credit for this sudden and unexpected upsurge of positive news goes to the 1200 peace-creating experts assembled in Washington, D.C., and Maharishi Vedic City, Iowa, who have been practicing Yogic Flying together in groups for the past week to create coherent national consciousness -- the basis for a more positive, invincible America, according to world-renowned quantum physicist Dr. John Hagelin, who is leading the Invincible America Course. Rising stock markets and declining oil prices are strong indicators of growing optimism and confidence in the country's economic future. Experts predicted that the upheaval in the Middle East would depress Wall Street and send oil prices skyrocketing. To the surprise of most economists, the opposite occurred. "This unshakeable national psychology is due to the stabilizing influence of the Yogic Flyers on the collective consciousness of the nation," Dr. Hagelin said. Dr. Hagelin said the good news was predicted publicly in advance based on 30 years of published scientific research on the collective effects of the Transcendental Meditation program and its more advanced Yogic Flying technique. "The research proves that as little as the square root of one percent of the population of a country practicing Yogic Flying together in a group is sufficient to reduce negative trends and strengthen positive social and economic tendencies throughout the entire population," said Dr. Hagelin, who serves as the Director of the Institute of Science, Technology and Public Policy at Maharishi University of Management in Fairfield, Iowa. Dr. Hagelin explained that the number of Yogic Flyers required to produce this coherent effect for the United States is 1730. However, he said, the initial group of 1200 experts is more than enough to create a calming, stabilizing effect in national consciousness. "As the number of Yogic Flyers rises to 2000 in the coming days, the world press will be reporting better and better economic and social news. We are transforming the nation before the eyes of the world. I urge the press to watch what happens tomorrow," Dr. Hagelin said. __._,_.___ To subscribe, send a message to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Or go to: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/FairfieldLife/ and click 'Join This Group!'

It is the work of a single tribe at war with everyone around it. Their enemies were not human: They were prey. http://www.slate.com/id/2146473/entry/2146669/?nav=tap3 I'm sorry, but it's just plain silly to pull some negative-sounding bit out of a scripture written thousands of years ago, then turn around and point fingers at the people whose scripture it is and sneer, See? See? The point I was making was that things have not changed over the course of thousands of years -- a single tribe at war with everyone around it. Obviously. That's the point I was saying was silly. As far as your claim that this is scripture belonging only to Jews, I did not make such a claim, Bob. Don't put words in my mouth, please. that's not true, as the Book of Numbers is part of both Christian and Islamic tradition. If you don't like the tone of Numbers 13, you probably will also not like Numbers 31, in which Moses tells his soldiers to kill everybody in an enemy tribe, except virgin girls: Says Bob, completely missing *my* point. And Jesus said one should hate one's mother and father and not even bother to give them a decent burial when they die (in a scripture that's considerably less ancient). You can find things that sound offensive to modern sensibilities in virtually any ancient scripture. We mock Christian fundies for taking the Bible literally, then we turn around and do the same thing when we want to slam Jews. In many if not most cases, such passages in ancient scripures are either metaphorical in some sense, or aren't the point of the scripture at all; or they reflect the way the society thought *then*, in a vastly different time and vastly different situations. As I pointed out to Curtis not long ago, the Jews have a long, long history of humanitarian ethics and social-justice activism on behalf of the poor and oppressed, all grounded in the very same scriptures you and he hold up to scorn. rant mode ON The *last* thing this planet needs is an invincible America. IMO the only good thing to come out of the Iraq invasion and the recent invasion of Lebanon is that they have demonstrated that both the United States and Israel, *far* from being invincible with their stockpiles of the latest and greatest weapons on the planet, are basically helpless when dealing with a people who believe that they are fighting for the preservation of their own country and their way of life. All that both countries have done is demonstrated their own *weakness*. It's a lesson the French finally learned in Algeria (after believing in their own invincibility for decades) and tried to convey to the US when it invaded Iraq. [FairfieldLife] Re: Invincible America?
I'm not sure where you got the idea that Israel sees itself as invincible ? Being forced to defend yourself is far from a feeling of invincibility. invincible means being able to neutralize the enemy before a war take place. Once you are in a war situation both sides have casualties, both sides lose, hence it's far from being invincible to begin with. I also doubt if Americans imagine that they are invincible after 9/11 and with today's easy access to WMD. America, and rightly so, sees itself as a superpower but that's different thing from being invincible. --- In FairfieldLife@yahoogroups.com, TurquoiseB [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: rant mode ON The *last* thing this planet needs is an invincible America. In this derivative sense traigunya means the worldly life.] i.e. the worldly life, as the object to be revealed. But you bhava, become; nistraigunyah, free from the three qualities, i.e. be free from desires. [There is a seeming conflict between the advices to be free from the three qualities and to be ever-poised in the quality of sattva. Hence, the Commentator takes the phrase nistraigunya to mean niskama, free from desires.] (Be) nirdvandvah, free from the pairs of duality -- by the word dvandva, duality, are meant the conflicting pairs [Of heat and cold, etc.] which are the causes of happiness and sorrow; you become free from them. [From heat, cold, etc. That is, forbear them.] You become nitya- sattvasthah, ever-poised in the quality of sattva; (and) so also niryoga-ksemah, without (desire for) acquisition and protection. Yoga means acquisition of what one has not, and ksema means the protection of what one has. For one who as 'acquisition and protection' foremost in his mind, it is difficult to seek Liberation. Wow. That seems so superficial and WRONG compared to MMY's commentary. I think we have to take Robert's words as they appear here: he is advocating the use of America's nuclear weapons against Iran...now. This does not bode well for the planet, IMO. Can Maharishi call for a WPA in Santa Fe? It's a nice place...lots of spas and Ayurvedic clinics... I saw anti-nuclear activist Dr. Helen Caldicott speak in Santa Fe once, and she told an interesting story about one of her trips to the Soviet Union, and her perspective on how the Cold War ended. If it was, it's the best and maybe only wise thing she's ever written). These words are designed only to make sense on a certain level of consciousness and, indeed, by reading or hearing them, confirm to the listener or reader the state of consciousness they are in. To take these words as instructions for living is, on the face of it, absurd and surely lead to disastrous results. [FairfieldLife] Gurgling Bubbles of Bliss
Hello ALL!! I am on the course that will make America invincible in about 4 days from now, and I am having AWESOME experiences (love that word!!!) - just bubbling gurgles of bliss throughout the program, and even more gurgling blissfulness of bubbling during flying Sometimes the bubbles are blue, but mostly they are yellow or pink -but regardless of the color, they are all blissfull. I also love the gurgling (because I have always had asthma which my guides say is caused because I am so pure).I was talking to a friend who lives in Fairfield about the different colors, and he thought it was great, but he said he had to rush off and not to bother calling him, and that he would call me. So, I'll have to wait and see what he thinks - I really respect him because he has sponsored me for courses as far back as 1975. Anyways, the reason that I am writing this message is to tell you all about the wonderful experiences people are having on the course and to let you know that they are still accepting people. Also, Maharishi was talking to us yesterday and he said that it was wonderful to receive, but it was even more wonderful to ask and try your best to receive (at least I am sure he said that, but when I asked someone else, he said he could not remember that, but I think he is so overcome with bliss that he doesn't remember much!!!). He says that the course will be extended for 2 weeks for anyone who can afford to stay, and I am so full of bliss and contributing so much to the world, that I have decided to stay and so I need sponsorship. I was having lunch beside some people yesterday (I hadn't met them before, but they were AWESOME people!!!) and I started talking to them about sponsorship. They had to suddenly leave, but one of them suggested writing to this group, because he said FFLifers were so positive and that it was a big group - so here I am!!! I cannot write for very long because I am using someone else's computer, but any sponsorship would be a very good thing for each of you to do. It probably would be easiest if you just write to me at my email address and then I can arrange for you to call me and send me the money. THANKS!!! Also, if anyone has large shoes that they are no longer using, I could use those (I am a size 14!!). Well, now I need to sign off as I asked someone to call my mom and dad and ask them to call me in a few minutes, and I dont' want to miss their call. They have been sponsoring me since 1977 and I know the way they look at me when I ask for sponsorship that they really like to sponsor me, even though they always say they don't! Isn't that funny? - but it's their way (their 86 and 92) and I would not change them for anything. My dad said to me last year You're 56 - isn't it time you took care of yourself? - aren't they funny! Also, I need them to send me some of their stuff from their basement (or my basement, since that is where I live!), because someone told me that people need things here and I could sell stuff here!! Well, gotta go - need to rest for 3 hours before the afternoon program. Thanks for sending all the sponsorship (I probably won't have much time to thank anyone once the money starts arriving, but I know you don't need thanks - it's the right thing to do, right?!) In fact there are folks from all kinds of political persuasions that don't believe the official version. I praise Alex Jones for the work he has done and the support he has given to the scholars who have done serious research into the matter. Um, I hate to tell Science this, but most of us are long since past the stage where empty flattery can get turned into $$. What a pathetic way to encourage participation--by hitting up your friends--still. Don't the course leaders who encourage this ever think of *new* ways to pick people's pockets? I thought there were scholarships. Sadly, nothing ever seems to change with them. [FairfieldLife] Maharish Effect: Strong Dampening / Downward Impact on US Financial Markets
Yesterday I prematurely posted a preliminary finding that 10 or so TMO milestones correlated with sharp rise in market trends. While, that may be true for strong waves of initiations and TTCs -- more analysis is required on that. however, now that I have correct project dates, it is clearly not the case for the three prior largest Maharish Effect projects. As you can see from the charts and analysis at the cited link, the past Maharish Effect projects have had a strong dampening / downward impact on US financial markets. Summary of Stock Market Trends During and After Prior Large ME Projects If the Maharishi Effect has any real effect on financial markets, and is not spurious / random correlation, it has a pronounced dampening / downward impact. The impact of three prior largest Maharishi Effect projects, DC (1993), Heaven on Earth (1987) and Utopia (1983-4) are reviewed belwo. More detailed analysis and graphics are in Charts 8-13. Fortunately, these negative effects on the market do not last. Several hypotheses (H1, H2) can be constructed regarding possible ME effects on financial markets: * market trend changes DURING the project * market trend changes soon AFTER the project, but over time, the influence declines and prior or new trends resume. The market remained in a trading range during the DC project, interupting the prior year's sharply rising market trend. After the DC project, the market trend regained its strong upward movement for another 8 months or so. Thus the DC project appears conistent with H1 -- it changed a strong two year upward trend -- stopping it in its tracks during the project. The DC project also appears consistent with H2, the plateau during the course changed back to the strong upward trend. Thus, if the ME project actually effected the markets, and was not spurious correlation, its effect was to dampen and constrain a long term upward trend. For at least a year prior to the HoE ME project, the SP 500 experiencing a strong upward trend Precisely during theHoE, project the SP 500 experienced its largest decline, over 30%, in many decades. After this significant market crash, and almost immediately after the course, the market resumed ints pre-course strong upward trend. Thus the HoE is consistent with H1 -- it dramatically reversed market cirection during the course. The Utopia project reversed a minor recovery upward trend with a strong decline, over 10% , over the next several months, thus consistent with H1. The utopia hit on the market continued for some months, but finally, 8 months later corrected itself -- thus being consistent with H2. [FairfieldLife] 'Why Did We Create Nuclear Weapons?'
Some of my recent posts, have been written in anger, and frustration. As I am Jewish, not practicing or anything, just born Jewish. Got picked on in the old neighborhood, by some of the Germans there. So, there is some deep button, that get's pushed, When I feel that old pressure, closing in from all sides, That the Jews are this, and the Jews are that... So, I admit that I am a little too attached to Israeli politics To be objective in this area. None the less, I am wondering why the United States, has spent Billions of dollars throughout the years, since WWII, Building these mighty nuclear weapons. Building mighty missiles, submarines, B-52's and B-2's to carry them to their targets; With multiple warheads on each missile. One submarine, parked in Puget Sound, here in Seattle, Has more explosive power, than all the bombs in WWII, put together. It's really hard to even fathom, a weapon of this magnitude. So, why did we create these weapons? When did we plan to use them? Is it so far fetched to think of the danger of this current situation, As perhaps making this deadly alternative necessary? The Iranian president wishes to establish a new: Persian Empire, in the Middle East; One without Israel, and the United States; And he is aligning himself with Chavez, in Venezuala ,China, and others; Iran has huge Uranium resources, as well as its black gold (Oil). The president of Iran has ambitions, which seem to me; Quite similar to that of Adolf Hitler's, 73 years ago... That war ended with two Atomic Blasts, as we know. What preceded those two Atomic Blasts were suicidal bombers and kamazis. What preceded those two Atomic Blasts, was the unwillingness to fight, Hand to hand, door to door on the Island of Japan. Dropping those bombs ended the war, and saved untold American lives. So, now with this Hitler type dictator in Iran, lusting for nukes, to destroy, us; And destroy Israel Why did we build these nuclear weapons, and when do we use them, And against what kind of enemy, do we use them? It's time for serious meditation on this issue; Wouldn't you agree? R.G. R.G. I retract my earlier apology, and revert back to my original statement when you started talking like this. You should consider getting some psychological help. You are saying EXACTLY the same thing that the people you're so terrified of are saying. THEY say that it is perfectly permissible to kill the people of a whole nation, Israel. YOU are saying that it is perfectly permissible to kill the people of a whole nation, Iran. I think that the people on both sides who think and talk like this have lost their humanity. I pity the crazies in Hamas and Hezbollah who have let fear and hatred take their humanity from them, and I pity you for having let it do the same thing to you. And the fact that you've found people here who agree with you makes it a big day for pity all around. To the silent ones who haven't commented but who feel the same sadness I do at all of this, what a commercial for what decades of meditation can do for a person, eh? [FairfieldLife] Invincibility Course for Lebanon
Title: Invincibility Course for Lebanon Peace For Lebanon We are happy to receive more supporting emails from those who are doing their daily program for the peace in Lebanon. Now the number is above 200 from all around the world, we thank you all for the Good Support that is reflected positively day by day. If you did not send your email yet, you can do now at the following link : http://maharishitm.org/ppaw/campaign.htm Away from what is happening on the gross level, which we classify as heavy release of stress, on the deep level there are many purifications taking place, my report of yesterday was full of positive points that are true, and soon we will issue a new report for some new positive points. Now we are planning to go with our Peace For Lebanon to a second phase, we are planning to do an Invincibly Course in Lebanon similar to the course in USA, Holland Switzerland and other European countries. the purpose of the course is to create invincibility in every country and in the whole world. This course will be done in one location where we can all do our daily program in one place. We all know the formula explained by Maharishi the N2 which mean that the effect of the group program will be effected by the number of the group the effect will be equal to the number of the group multiplied by itself. Now we are around 200 members of meditators and sidhas, who are doing their programs at home, the effect could be equal to 200 units of coherence. While on the other hand a group of 15 sidhas who are doing their program under one roof will give an equal effect. For this reason and in order to have a greater effect in Lebanon we are organizing the Invincibility Course. This invincibility course is open for Governors, Sidhas and Meditators who are now in Lebanon, the duration of the course is structured to be between two to four weeks in Residence. Now we want to know urgently who will be ready to join this special course for Lebanon.
