I think it would make it more realistic, just don't pan the sound
completely left/right though. Kills a lot of audio if the file isn't
mono.

Hi all,

I know that some of you have been wanting an audio demonstration of
the entirety of the Q9 Action Game, and so here it is. Excuse the bad
audio quality
of the speech segments, I am not in my proper studio but rather in my
little apartment with nothing but a little stereo mic to hook up.

Warning! This spoils the ending of the game on the easy difficulty
level, as well as everything else heard throughout the game. Don't
download and listen
to this unless you are prepared to hear all the cut scenes etc, in
advance.

2010-06-22 Thread Jacob Kruger

Would be nice/cool.

Not relevant/mildly off-topic, but when I specifically try panning sounds
around when programming, it seems like lots of .wav files have some form of
encoding corruption in them that makes the code crash, whereas other .wav
files will sometimes work in exact same code - weird...

Re: [Audyssey] Panning Weapon Sounds in MOTA

2010-06-22 Thread dark
Cool and realistic indeed, however, I do have a miner concern about similar
sounds getting confused if they were on the same side, if for instance
angela ends up in a sword fight or gun battle with another enemy. With the
weapons in the positions they are, you can always be certain which are yours
and which belong to enemies, and this would save giving an enemy's sword or
gun a completely different sound.

i only say this sinse I suspect more sword fights (not the least against
athena herself), are forthcoming further down, and certainly in the Tomb
raider series Lara had some human competition to deal with as well as the
creatures in the various temples, so it wouldn't surprise me if Dr. Carter
ends up with the same in a future installment of the series, or maybe
even in Mota if there is an unexpected plot twist.

Beware the Grue!

Re: [Audyssey] Panning Weapon Sounds in MOTA

2010-06-22 Thread Damien Pendleton

Hi Tom,
I think the sound should initially be central, and then panned as the shot
progresses. This will not only show you which direction she is facing, but
also put a bit of realism since it will simulate the swing of the sword or
the propulsion of the shot.

Hope this helps.
Regards,
Damien.

Really wouldn't hold out much hope on this as a teaching aid folks,
every app/game that I've encountered thus far that aims to do that has
done so with funky visuals but no usable clues.
On the other hand, actual strings are going to make this 200% more fun.

instruments if you so wish, so you aren't restricted to the game. Is
anyone picking this up, and if so will you be checking out pro mode? If
you know how to play the real guitar, then that's basically what you'll be
doing in pro mode. You'll play the real cords and notes from the actual
song. keyboard is also similar except that you'll only have 25 keys that
you can use. I doubt a real keyboard layout would've been feasible lol.
Bohemian rhapsody will be one of the songs included in the game. man it
would rock to play that song with a full band (Keys, guitar, bass, drums

Re: [Audyssey] Panning Weapon Sounds in MOTA

2010-06-22 Thread Phil Vlasak

Hi Thomas,
I think this would be great especially with the sword and dagger.
If you could have a swing and maybe metallic clank sound a little to the
left or right of center depending on the way she is facing you would get
more of a feeling that you were reaching out to hit a monster.

Her punch sounds and whip cracks would be good in this respect too.

Hi everyone,
Recently I've been thinking about the question of panning Angela's
weapons left/right when she turns to face that direction, or weather I
should just leave them centered as is the current case. The reason I
ask this is in most sighted side-scrollers you can see the main
character facing left or right, and when the character fires his/her
weapon you can see the shot moving from left to right or from right to
left. I thought it might be cool, although not necessary, to try and
emulate this behavior through audio. What do you guys think?

Cheers!

  Hi Shaun,
I agree about the echo of the shot or swing. But the sound of hitting a
target when shooting at it is not quite realistic. I had the oportunity to
shoot with the pistol from the very small distance and because of the sound
of the shot it is not possible to hear when the bullet hits the target
unless the bullet ricochets when it hits a stone, for example.

[Audyssey] The horse racing game cheat codes

2010-06-22 Thread Milos Przic

Can someone please send me privately the cheats for the Horse Racing game?
It seams that there is a bug in the game, so it happens that when you come to
the end the game somehow continues and blocks. I arrived to the finish with
more than 130 points a few times but nothing. So please, if someone has the
cheats (not for the old version, as I hurd that there are some new cheats in
the newer one), I would apreciate it!

I like listening to audio walk throughs for entertainment. I have not
beaten the game yet, but am saving this walk through just in case I ever
need it, or for enjoyment after I have done so. I will not use it as a
spoiler unless I have worked at any difficulties I encounter. On another
note, I do not like the sound when you defeat a wolf. It sounds like a dog
is terribly injured, and I feel like, Aw! That poor puppy! That's not a
complaint, but a statement of how good the sound is.

Hi all,

I know that some of you have been wanting an audio demonstration of the
entirety of the Q9 Action Game, and so here it is. Excuse the bad audio
quality
of the speech segments, I am not in my proper studio but rather in my
little apartment with nothing but a little stereo mic to hook up.

Warning! This spoils the ending of the game on the easy difficulty level,
as well as everything else heard throughout the game. Don't download and
listen
to this unless you are prepared to hear all the cut scenes etc, in
advance.

[Audyssey] some groove it gameplay.

2010-06-22 Thread Yohandy
2 file. one on basic, the other on expert difficulty. I just
found the toy lying around and recorded this on the spot. I recommend
everyone gets one of these if you can find it as it's real fun and way more
challenging than bop it in my opinion. here are the files

Re: [Audyssey] Rock Band 3 will teach gamers how to play realinstruments.

2010-06-22 Thread Yohandy
lol! unfortunately that will be impossible since there will be no backward
compatibility with current songs. only upcoming DLC after Rock Band 3's
release will work with the new pro modes. I shall have lots of fun with the
keyboard though since I actually play real keyboard. also the guitar I could
always hook up to my computer or something and actually attempt to learn to
play it. should be an interesting experiment for sure. this is the neat
thing about these new instruments, that they'll work outside the game's
interface. I think that's totally awesome.

Really wouldn't hold out much hope on this as a teaching aid folks,
every app/game that I've encountered thus far that aims to do that has
done so with funky visuals but no usable clues.
On the other hand, actual strings are going to make this 200% more fun.
Yohandy, I'll be awaiting your Final Countdown solo on a real 6 string
then, muhahaha.

Oh yeah, and about the release date, they say it's coming out in October.
Not sure if an official date was set, however.

The game will be released this holiday season for ps3, xbox 360
and

Wii with a keyboard peripheral, as well as symbol attachments for drums,
and various new guitars, including a real 6 string electric guitar. the
awesome thing about this is that you can use these instruments as midi
instruments if you so wish, so you aren't restricted to the game. Is
anyone picking this up, and if so will you be checking out pro mode? If
you know how to play the real guitar, then that's basically what you'll
be

doing in pro mode. You'll play the real cords and notes from the actual
song. keyboard is also similar except that you'll only have 25 keys that
you can use. I doubt a real keyboard layout would've been feasible lol.
Bohemian rhapsody will be one of the songs included in the game. man it
would rock to play that song with a full band (Keys, guitar, bass, drums
and 3-part vocal harmonies. it would sound totally awesome. I know I'll
be

preordering this game as soon as it's available!

[Audyssey] WII Bowling

2010-06-22 Thread Jim Kitchen

Hi,

I was just down at our apartment community room and played WII Bowling for the
first time. They told me about where to line up for my first ball the first
time and then after that they told me what pins were left for a spare. I won
all three games that I played. I bowled a 153, 154 and 170. I guess not too
bad for my first time. It was pretty fun even though I did need sighted help
to play.

BFN
Jim

Ah say, son, you're about as sharp as a bowlin' ball.

2010-06-22 Thread Charles Rivard
If there were a way for a totally blind person to accurately aim at the
remaining pins, and know what they were, and know the result, I'd give it a
try. By the way, if you know, are there any neat features to the game? For
instance, can you foul? Is there bowling center noise for atmosphere? Any
sort of play by play info provided by the game, including wise cracks?
These would be fun!

[Audyssey] Jd error on japanese windows

2010-06-22 Thread dark
Hi.

We've recently had a question on the audiogames.net forum from a Japanese chap
called Yukio who's attempting to run Judgement day on windows 7. Apparently he
gets a runtime error 6 overflow message.

I suggested he download and install winkit, sinse that installs dependencies
and often fixes windows 7 compatibility issues, but apparently this hasn't
helpd as yet.

I did wonder however if it might also be a language thing, sinse I'm not sure a
Japanese version of windows would run standard ascii files the same way as one
using the roman alphabet, though whether this has anything to do with errors I
don't know, though of course it might be something entirely different.

so, I was wondering if anyone had any thoughts.

Btw, yukio has apparently E-mailed Liam as well.

Beware the grue!

Dark.

[Audyssey] railracer issue

2010-06-22 Thread shaun everiss

Hi all.
not sure if this is also for the registration system of rr but I
decided to play today.

I put on web posting.
I get an error about trying to get my nickname then the program exits
to the desktop everything looked ok.
I was about to reload the program then maybe windows but I decided to
check the serfvers for track and cash records.

the servers seem to have config errors.
and appear offline.
so anyone wanting to play railracer online, can't which sucks i guess
for those that want to.
I was bored today and decided to try to have a game like try to get
back up in the ranks.

guess I won't bother now.

probably a language thing I mostly use unicode whereever I can find it.
this goes for innosetup installers.
I may not need it but others may.
who knows.
