Hello!

The projects.vdr-developer.org server has been shut down tonight. RIP!

I will provide a readonly-mirror of the Redmine projects, tickets and
downloads as well as all the git repositories on:

https://vdr-projects.e-tobi.net

This is still work in progress, but I will have everything up and running

[vdr] projects.vdr-developer.org might come to an end

2022-05-24 Thread Tobi
Hi!

Over the last years, the projects.vdr-developer.org site was hosted on a
server sponsored by Xeatre.tv. This server will now go offline on June, 7'th.

Currently there are about 10 projects with activity in the last 12 months.

I haven't made a final decision on how to proceed, but I'm leaning towards
taking the site offline. In this case I will archive the git repositories
on gitlab or github and possibly keep a read-only instance of Redmine on
my private vServer for a while.

Let me know, what you think. If there are many comments in favor of
keeping the site online, I'm sure I can find a solution.

BR,

Tobias

Re: [vdr] VDR packages in Debian and e-tobi.net

2021-12-21 Thread Tobi
So far, I've updated the following packages in debian/sid, which soon will
migrate to debian/testing:

∙ vdr 2.4.7
∙ vdr-plugin-dvd 0.3.6~b03+git20211216
∙ vdr-plugin-dvbhddevice 2.2.0
∙ vdr-plugin-dvbsddevice 2.2.0
∙ vdr-plugin-epgsearch 2.4.1
∙ vdr-plugin-epgsync 1.0.1
∙ vdr-plugin-femon 2.4.0
∙ vdr-plugin-live 3.1.3
∙ vdr-plugin-osdserver 0.1.3
∙ vdr-plugin-osdteletext 2.3.0
∙ vdr-plugin-remote 0.7.0
∙ vdr-plugin-satip 2.4.1
∙ vdr-plugin-skinenigmang 0.1.2+git20190720
∙ vdr-plugin-streamdev 0.6.1+git20180514
∙ vdr-plugin-svdrposd 1.0.0
∙ vdr-plugin-svdrpservice 1.0.0
∙ vdr-plugin-vnsiserver 1:1.8.0+git20211205-1
∙ vdr-plugin-xineliboutput 2.2.0+git20211212-1

For vnsiserver I use the original version from FernetMenta, not the fork
from mdre77, which seems to be more up to date. But as the original
version works fine for me, I will stay with it, until someone can convince
me to switch to the fork.

Additionally to these packages, the following plugins are also available
in my private repository:

deb https://packages.e-tobi.net/vdr-experimental bullseye base
vdr-multipatch addons

∙ vdr-plugin-dummydevice 2.0.0
∙ vdr-plugin-epg2vdr 1.1.118
∙ vdr-plugin-femon 2.4.0
∙ vdr-plugin-fritzbox 1.5.4
∙ vdr-plugin-graphlcd 1.0.6
∙ vdr-plugin-iptv 2.4.0
∙ vdr-plugin-menuorg 0.5.2
∙ vdr-plugin-noepg 0.0.5
∙ vdr-plugin-pvrinput 2015-11-07
∙ vdr-plugin-skinelchi 0.3.0
∙ vdr-plugin-skinflatplus 0.6.1
∙ vdr-plugin-skinsoppalusikka 2.4.0
∙ vdr-plugin-softhddevice 1.2.6
∙ vdr-plugin-vdrmanager 0.12+git20211220
∙ vdr-plugin-wirbelscan 2021.12.11

Still on the TODO list are:

∙ vdr-plugin-rpihddevice
∙ vdr-plugin-markad or markad-ng
∙ vdr-plugin-extrecmenu or extrecmenung
∙ vdr-plugin-yaepghd
∙ vdr-plugin-vaapidevice
∙ vdr-plugin-undelete
∙ vdr-plugin-tvguide
∙ vdr-plugin-trayopenng
∙ vdr-plugin-suspendoutput
∙ vdr-plugin-osdpip
∙ vdr-plugin-noepg
∙ vdr-plugin-loadepg
∙ vdr-plugin-cdplayer
∙ vdr-plugin-skindesigner
∙ vdr-plugin-imonlcd

For rpihddevice I'm not sure what to do - OMX and MMAL have been
deprecated in Raspbian/bullseye, so it doesn't even build out of the box.
And it doesn't look like a V4L2 version is being worked on.

For undelete I'm thinking about applying this patch instead:

https://www.vdr-portal.de/forum/index.php?thread/132378-vdr-2-4-x-und-undelete/

Maybe Klaus can consider this for 2.5.x/2.6.x.

I can't test all these plugins. The only plugins I really use, are
vnsiserver, epgsearch and rarely xineliboutput and femon.

[vdr] VDR packages in Debian and e-tobi.net

2021-12-06 Thread Tobi
Hi!

To my shame, I have rather neglected the maintenance of the VDR and VDR
plugin packages for Debian and e-tobi.net over the last 2 years.
I am in the process of catching up. However, I would like to get rid of
some plugins where nothing is happening upstream anymore.
Which plugins do you consider indispensable and would like to see them
continue in the official Debian and/or e-tobi.net Debian repositories?

[vdr] projects.vdr-developer.org spam cleanup

I did some spam cleanup on projects.vdr-developer.org today. There was a
lot of spam in news-comments. I hope I've catched all spam, if not, please

All spam-users and inactive users which haven't created any kind content
have been deleted as well.

I might have deleted some "false positives". If you are missing something,
please let me know and I will try to recover it from the backup.

If your account was deleted and you can't login anymore, please let me
know or just register again.

Right now registration requires manual confirmation by the administrator,

Re: [vdr] Device power saving feature - power measurements

2016-06-12 Thread Tobi
Hi,

I've tried this as well now.

I have two Cine S2 dual-tuner cards (an older 5.5 running on ngene driver
and a 6.5 running with the ddbridge driver) attached to a cascadable
multiswitch.

The VDR (2.2) runs as a headless server with the vnsi plugin to allow to
connect Kodi clients to the VDR.

With all adapters active, I see a power consumption of about 50W. When
your power-saving patch kicks in, this is reduced by about 7W to 43W.

So far this seems to work fine. Thanks for this patch!

+1 for including this into vanilla VDR.

Re: [vdr] vdr on arch linux, and on debian wiki

I'm not aware that VDR is in any way sensitive for Debian.

As the currently only (more or less) active maintainer of the Debian VDR
package I very much appreciate your efforts to take care of the
Debian-Wiki page for VDR!

I think there's simply not very much interest in VDR among the Debian
users to attract people to contribute to the Debian-specific documentation.

BTW: I haven't found very much time to work on the VDR packages in the
last weeks/months, but I'll soon upload new versions with some major
changes (systemd, conf.d etc.).

[vdr] Inserting still images into VDR recordings

Hi!

Does anybody know a tool which allows to insert still images at a specific
position for a specific duration in a VDR TS recording?

e.g. I would like to fill in missing frames that happened due to recording

There's not very much which go wrong. As long as the plugins are compiled
with -fPIC and -D_FILE_OFFSET_BITS=64 there should be no ABI
incompatibilities.

I can understand your frustration - changing a myriad of packages is an
annoying task (been there - done that! :-)

But after all I think the new Makefile is much better and for the first
time works out of the box with the standard Debian packaging tools (which
require *FLAGS, DESTDIR, PREFIX and so on).

Packaging is much easier right now as you basically only have to do:

make all PREFIX=/ ...
make install DESTDIR=...

And for plugins that haven't migrated to the new Makefile the only change
I had to do was:

export CXXFLAGS += $(shell pkg-config vdr --variable=cxxflags)

The only thing I'm missing is a CPPFLAG in the Makefiles, which I hope
gets added in 2.0+X.

But I'm talking from the Debian/Ubuntu perspective only - things might be
slighty more complicated in Gentoo.

[vdr] RFC: Adding CPPFLAGS to Makefile

2013-02-23 Thread Tobi
Hello!

Klaus asked me to put this up for discussion:

At least Debian and Debian derivatives provide standard values for
CFLAGS/CXXFLAGS/LDFLAGS/CPPFLAGS/FFLAGS.

VDR's Makefile does not use CPPFLAGS (C-Pre-Processor flags) right now.
Not a big deal and easy to work-around, but for the sake of providing a
standards-conform Makefile I suggest adding CPPFLAGS as well.

Please see the attached patch.

It's only a suggestions and Klaus already indicated that such a change
might not make it into 2.0.0, so please don't panic, that all
plugin-Makefiles must be changed once again :-)

bye,

Tobias

When I set cut marks via the VDR-OSD and cut the recording, this works fine.

But when I cut the same recording with the same cut marks with
`vdr --edit`, the cut points are offset by some seconds e.g. the beginning
of the cutted recording is about 9 seconds earlier than it should be.

Reason: When invoking `vdr --edit` LC_NUMERIC is *not* set to C yet when
CutRecording() is called. My default locale uses , as the decimal
point, causing the framerate to be parsed as 29.0 instead of 29.97002997.

setlocale(LC_NUMERIC, C) should be called earlier in main().

[vdr] Cleaner TS/h264 cutting possible?

2012-01-25 Thread Tobi
Hello,

cutting a TS recording, where two cut points are joined, always leads to
some artifacts at this join when playing the cutted result.

When VDR cuts only at I-Frames, shouldn't the cut point be unnoticeable in
the output?

Checking the cutted result with TS-Doctor shows a bunch of errors, while
the original recording contained none.

Is this an issue with the way VDR cut's recordings or is there simply no
clean way to cut TS recordings without re-encoding them?

[vdr] Weird frame rate issue (VDR 1.6 recording, VDR 1.7 playback)

2012-01-23 Thread Tobi
Hi!

Several recordings recorded from JSC Sports (S13.0E-318-500-8440) seem to
have a weird framerate. The recordings were done in PES format with VDR
1.6, so there's no framerate setting in the info file and VDR will use 25
fps by default. This leads to a wrong recording length display (30 minutes
for a recording that was actually 20 minutes long). VDR 1.7.22 is used for
playback and with a small patch I can provide the framerate via the
info.vdr (Which might be a useful feature anyways, patch attached.).

So far so good, but the recording seems to have a weird framerate

This is the recording:

501593483 2012-01-20 13:15:00.0 +0100 001.vdr
   366032 2012-01-20 13:15:00.0 +0100 index.vdr
  149 2012-01-20 12:55:05.0 +0100 info.vdr

The mtime diff between info.vdr and 001.vdr is 19:55 minutes. index.vdr is
366032 bytes in size, which divided by 8 gives a framerate of 38,29 fps.

Can anyone explain this framerate?

ffmpeg and mediainfo both say 25fps (see below) and VLC tells me it's 50fps.

When I convert the recording to TS using project-x, set the framerate in
the info.vdr to 25 and reindex it with VDR 1.7.22, it still shows the
wrong length.

bye,

Tobias

ffmpeg says:

No they haven't. Sorry! But it's on the todo list. Just need to fix the
merge conflicts first, because the patch doesn't apply to 0.7.

I have a new version 0.8 out with the following changes:

  - Use cStringIO instead of string concatenation - about 3 times faster
(Patch provided by Ed Hein)
  - Fixed license header in source files - it's the BSD licence now!
  - Set mtime of file nodes to recording time (parsed from *.rec)
  - Set mtime of dir nodes to original directories mtime
  - Added homepage http://projects.vdr-developer.org/projects/vdrnfofs
  - Some micro optimizations
  - Cache the file system nodes for get_stat() (nodes used for
reading are not cached)
  - For FUSE file nodes' uid/gid is taken from the *.rec dir, for dir
nodes from the original dir

The file system should now be *much* faster.

http://projects.vdr-developer.org/projects/vdrnfofs
http://projects.vdr-developer.org/git/vdrnfofs.git/

@Ed Hein:

I've taken the cStringIO from your patch, which works pretty well, but
did a different approach with the caching. Only the nodes used for
tree walking/stat() are cached (max. 10 seconds).
I've also set multithreaded=False instead of locking the file reads -
threading (especially with locks around the reads) doesn't seem to make
things faster anyways.

Any deeper inspection/modification of the underlying mpg stream would make

[vdr] projects.vdr-developer.org now has a new home

2011-07-29 Thread Tobi
Hello everyone!

http://projects.vdr-developer.org/news/135

projects.vdr-developer.org is now hosted on a new server:

  Opteron™ 1381 Quad-Core, 4 x 2,5 GHz
  4 GB RAM
  2 x 500 GB (Raid 1)
  500 GB FTP Backup Space
  IP: 85.214.78.111

The server is still fully sponsored by xeatre.tv (http://www.xeatre.tv).
Thanks a lot!

Thanks to Siegmar as well for providing the subdomain!

It's currently running a 64bit Debian/Squeeze with Kernel 2.6.32-5.

I also took the chance to change some things under the hood. The updated
Redmine now runs under a Mongrel cluster served by the Nginx webserver.
This should give it a minor performance boost.

git-web has been replaced by cgit, which is significantly faster. You
might now also use the cgit-URL's to pull a repository via http.

Instead of gitosis, I now use gitolite to manage the Git-repositories. I
have plans to integrate the repository and public key management into
Redmine at some time, but don't expect this very soon.

The username for SSH-write-access to the Git-repositories has been changed
from 'gitosis' to 'git-vdr'. You can still continue to use the old
username, but I might drop this sometimes. It is easily changed with:

  git remote set-url origin \
git-...@projects.vdr-developer.org:repository-name.git

If you are missing a feature, have any improvement suggestions or have
any problem, please create an issue here:

  http://projects.vdr-developer.org/projects/project-management/issues/new

or contact me by mail:

  p...@e-tobi.net

I'm still fine-tuning everything and try to make
projects.vdr-developer.org as secure and reliable as possible. So if the
site isn't reachable in the next days for a short time, I might currently
be working on it. Please try again later in this case or contact me.

Right. The C++ standard explicitly requires an user-declared default

So it should also work if you add an empty
 constructor cCursesFont::cCursesFont() { }  ???

Yes. Either this or -fpermissive. But personally I prefer the initializer
here, but I must admit I don't understand the technical reason, why the
standard requires a user defined default constructor at all.

I also have another plugin which controls some LEDs hung of the parallel

As Steffen already answered, it's as easy as running

[vdr] VDR 1.7.16 fast forward / backward (DVB-S/FF/SDTV)

2010-10-03 Thread Tobi
Hi!

Playing a PES recording, I can fast forward in trick speed, but as soon as
I pause the fast forward mode and resume the normal playback, I'm back
where I started. Going backwards in trick speed mode works fine.

When playing a TS recording it's the other way around. Fast forward in
trick speed mode works fine but going backward fails when resuming normal
playback.

In the cases where it doesn't work, the time index in the OSD and the
progress bar are not updated.

I've reproduced this with 1.7.14 and 1.7.16.

Is this a (known) VDR bug or a problem with the DVB drivers in 2.6.32?

[vdr] ANNOUNCE vdr-ttxtsubs 0.1.0 for VDR 1.7.6

This is the first version with support for the VDR 1.7.x development

* Silence compiler warning about unchecked read return value.
* After replaying, reset the last channel variable and trigger a channel
switch to reinitialize the live ttxtsubs display.
* Removed unused local copy of vdrttxtsubshooks.c|h

The major goal for the future developement of the Ttxtsubs plug-ins is to
