We have several of the DC models that we are using to redo some older
sites. We are putting them at the top of the tower, and running fiber/DC
to them. Everyone who has used them seems to be pretty happy.

RHEL has 10 year standard life/support cycles.
RHEL5 was released in 2007, RHEL6 in 2010 and RHEL7 in 2014.

We are ordering pre-terminated armored CommScope fiber from Best-Tronics
and running it from a router at the base of the tower to a switch at the
top. I would suggest giving BT a call.

If you need both 24/48V at the top, I would probably just run 48V up the
tower, split it, and then use a DC-DC converter for your 24V rail.

I'm not following your 'leave 192.168.1.88 on ether1' thing here. You do
have a loopback interface correct? In MT, this translates to:
/interface bridge add name=loopback
/ip address add interface=loopback address=1.2.3.4/32
In this scenario, 1.2.3.4/32 would be accessible no matter what
You need the PIDU as far as I know.

Yeah, systemd is really the 'biggest' change for many users. You can also
disable the 'consistent device naming' for network interfaces if you so
desire.

We have been running RHEL7 in production for quite a while now. My
suggestion would be to deploy EL7. Bite the bullet and learn systemd.
It's really not that hard, just different than init.

No, they do not need to reverse the polarity. The sync radios are 802.3af.

We have always used Geovision. Ubiquiti has their platform as well, but I
don't have much experience with it.

How compact? We have several NEMA enclosures with 2-3 SyncInjectors. We
typically use 20x16. Here is a top-of-tower design that we are using to revamp
several sites. This variation only has 1, but I could easily squeeze a few
more in by rearranging the surge protectors.

Thanks - yeah, we are anxiously awaiting the 12 port injectors.

Seven servers (yes, I know they are VMs), as awesome as Zimbra may be, is a
little ridiculous for a few hundred users.

I finally switched over to Thinkpads after using Dell Latitudes for nearly
10 years. My current laptop is a 440s, and it's by far the best laptop
that I have ever owned. It's light, and the keyboard/display are great. I
get ~6 hours typically. It's not exactly a budget laptop, though.
