@Chris, entombed 1 had plenty of rooms with multiple doors, all just part of random dungeon generation, I imagine entombed 2 is the same, indeed Im a tad confused what you mean about this being a bug, though I do agree with you about changing the door sounds in front or behind the character, a lower door sound for doors to the south like the lower wind sound might help here. @Ethin, While a check for updates option might sound a nice idea, it might cause issues later on, if people start heavily modding the game and monkeying with lua scripting, after all the last thing youd want after creating your carefully scripted mod would be for Jason to release an update and you finding your scripts got over written by newer versions. I also confess in cases where to update its only necessary to redownload and run the setup I always rather wonder if a check for updates option is overkill, though obviously it can be very handy if it can automat
 ically download many files youd otherwise need to add automatically, like the MushZ updater for Alteraeon.

There is also an instructions file in the Braillemon folder that you make when you unzip it. Its called Instructions rather than Read Me, but it gives you all the key commands you can use.Unfortunately, you cant use other screen-readers with Braillemon aside from Sapi, but I hope this can be changed in the future, as I have configured the Speech Dictionary in NVDA to pronounce the names of many Pokémon correctly, and even the term Pokémon itself.

Dont get too worried about things that arent right in this little technical test version. Ill be changing things rapidly.As for the doors opening and closing, it just seemed less complicated to assume youve moved through a door instead of having the door frame as a space. I also considered opening doors and not shutting them. That way you know if youve passed that way because youre not opening them again.Rooms are a special case in Entombed 2. Rooms are where interesting things happen. I dont know if you can hear it well enough, but there is a 3D ambient sound of water running. That sound is handled differently from the wind, door, and footstep sounds in that it is fully 3D and is more nuanced than just a sound left, right, up, or down. The only 3D sound Entombed 1 had was the dragon breathing. Im hoping to expand that with Entombed 2. So I think Im going to make an ambient 3D sound for unexplored rooms so you can
  find them easier subtly and know when there are no more to be explored.

@garret, Some rooms do appear next to each other occasionally. In Entombed 1, a room was just a matrix of spaces that had nothing special about them. Even when you tried to pick something up, the game would first walk over all the tiles in the room and collect all the items into one pile so you didnt have to manually walk over each one. In Entombed 2, navigating a room is only one movement (this is to prevent tedious exploration) and all items dont need to be grouped together from multiple spaces. However, where Entombed 1 didnt have anything particularly special about a room other than its size, many interactions in Entombed 2 will be tied to rooms.Its entirely possible to enter a room and end up with a large encounter with unfriendly goblins, or worse. Rooms can also contain treasure chests and be hidden. Rooms might also have traps. Theyll also have descriptions, and possibly an ambient sound so you can find them from further away.

Try using W, S, A, D for movement and menu selection. That should bypass the Jaws arrow key problem.

I managed to get the game to work by downloading it directly with Windows. I guess Safari was doing wierd stuff to the file putting .msi.exe at the end of it.Anyway, Im having the same issues as everyone else with the menu. WHen Im in the actual game and press escape, it just has the start and exit options. Whats going on here?Also, the sounds for walls and steps appear to be very quiet compared to the door sounds. Im also wondering how you know if a door is in front or behind you. I cant really tell, so just have to push up or down arrow to go through the door. THe door sound itself it odd since it plays the door open and close sound even if youre in the doorway. Is this by design or is it a glitch? I was expecting doors to operate like they did in the original Entombed.One more thing, why do rooms have more than one door leading out of them. Is this a bug or by design?Still, this looks promising. Im excited fo
 r a Mac version and to see what comes next.

well first of all, by wednsday there will be sleep, yay for that. Just one big improvment. And the watch alarm then, will be come very handy. Because in realisticness you cant fall asleep and wake your slf up all the time. You have to hear a loud noise, etc. Such as a watch alarm in 5 squares of you would wake you up. So when you sleep, you have to have wood for the fire that will last all night. Or else you could frees to death. Etc. So just sleeping will provide many tasks in its self. And keep in mind, this will mean you will have to go threw the day, sleep, and get up to an alarm or the sun or something, etc. I know theres not much now but there will be very very soon. And I already thought about thirst warnings, yes they will be added. The thing here is I have a lot of things going for me, and this game, right now. So the pk system will temperarily stey, until I get more into the game. Then, I may either remove it, or set it to default. But I will fix the bug ware
  players with no PK cant attack. Should be fixxed by tonight.

Samn, youre in a very tough spot here, trying to make everyone happy. And that, sadly, is impossible. I will tell you though, with PK being the way it is right now, its not working. All these lovely long-distance weapons people have are effectively useless, and there are so many cheap ways around it its ridiculous. So many people are resorting to cheap pokety poke punching matches, its truly irritating. No real survival skills are encouraged. My suggestion is that perhaps PK is off for someone until they have met certain requirements in the game, I.E. gotten a bow and a certain amount of arrows. Other than that, pk should remain on. The game is called Survive the Wild, after all. Not Peaceful Tour Through the Woods.

Sam, the problem with the current pk, is that People with PK on off, can attack to people with pk in on.For example, with some friends, we talk to have a friendly battle. But, when we are battling, some stupid with PK in off, attack the last of us when the battle finished. of course my friend cant defend himself because he was with low health, and the enemy is with PK on off.Because this, I think the best solution, is have a PKZones and safe zones. For the people that want battle, just go to the wild zone and battle against other that are in this zone.In the current map, the desert is a perfect location for this xD.A, of course the people that are in the border of the safe zone, cant attack with a long range weapon to the people in the wild zone. Same for the other situation. ¿What do you think of this?Bye.

Hi.Dark, thats true. I thought each room along this circular path only had one door to go in and out from. It seems like this new layout is a little different. So, do the other doors in the room go back to the hallway like in Entombed, or do they link to other rooms? Ill have to play with this some more.

Hi all, so as for the event, I have to talk to ns about why the server keeps randomly restarting. Imthinking its runtime errors, but ever sence weve switched machines I havnt been being notified. I can reload the event for yall. As for pk, I did it because dozens of people kept wanting me to do it. I wasnt even going to but people kept asking how to defend them selves, and something I say, use logic. They cant easily knife you in a tree whare there would be a million branches in the way.   something then going back and deleting 6 hours worth of code. Sometimes I do it because I understand, other times because most people dont like the feature. Then, sure I tried but it kinda turns into a waste of time deleting code. I might remove the pk, maybe ill add a /pkdefault command so you can set your pk to always be on or always be off when you spawn. Think that might help at all?

I like the new layout. It took some getting used to, but I can get around rooms quite nicely. 1 question, though. Will there be a room linking system, like chris mentioned? It would be cool to have linking rooms, instead of just 1 room by itself. It would also be cool to have some rooms that are huge, and some that contain a whole stampeed of enemies when you enter the room, like 5 or 6, that you have to fight off in order to get past. This game is really awesome and I look forward to the final product when it comes out!

I agree jaybird.My old drive one of them semi crashed and I was able to transfer things over.That drive died and I almost lost everything.I got 2 drives now and later on I got another drive to back up the other drives because both were getting full.While my oldest elements drive is ok its starting to make some weird noise at times so eventually it will probably be dieing.My other western digital has some bad sectors but I have managed to repair it via software I just cant use it anymore for perminant storage of stuff or well new stuff but as far as I care its still semi ok.My new Seagate drive has everything on it.I have a small cloud account and everything else is loaded on a few flash drives.But yeah I almost lost everything under the sun.Sometimes by unplugging or plugging the drive it will just work.Getting a drive bay and installing that to your system and plugging that drive in should work.However even i
 f the logic board is dead you should be able to access the drive itself.If the motors or storage platters are dead thats another thing entirely.Ofcause once all these large fflash units become cheaper hard drives in general which are large magnetic disks really mechanical etc, will be a thing of the past.I dont think bar snapping it there is any real way to destroy a flash unless ofcause you put it on a stove or in a microwave.You can even get them nice and drowned in water they are plastic anyway.Right now it costs as much to get 128gb than it does to get 2 tb or maybe 1tb hdd.So right now if you want data access at a reasonable rate with the space needed Id still choose the hard drive over flash.The place it does come into play is your general os but at the same time you can get faster and slower drives and the quality can vary to.One of my drives worked all morning to then decided to shove off.I had a tech pl
 ug it into another system, and the drive smoked, sparked and exploded.

Hi sam, while I understand that you are trying to make people happy, we need to remember the theme of the game and thats survival.Meaning you have to try and survive.Ive killed and have been killed more than a few times and thats part of the game.Now that pk is optional, there is nothing to do on the game at all now I can do everything there is to do in less than 20 minutes.Youve even stated yourself that you will be putting in animals and so people will have to try and stay alive and wont really be able to pk nearly as much because they will be busy protecting themselves.So there really is not a point to have optional pk.you do have the option to stay in a tree or lear nto fight and in a survival situwation you cant just tell other people to leave you alone.If you start by trying to please everyone from the start, that later on when you put in other things that can kill you , peo
 ple are then going to complain that its to hard or that you lsoe your stuff.I really feel that the way it was was just fine.

You press x to throw the pitch, but you need to hit a button before you hit x to throw a different pitch. For example, X twice is usually a fastball, if youd hit triangle and then x, youd get a slider or a change up. All the pitchers have different controls, so you need someone to tell you which buttons do what. the pitchers have four, sometimes five pitches. And, the buttons are triangle, circle, x, square, and r1. Press them before hitting x to pitch the ball, and youll throw a different pitch.If you turn on automatic fielding, you dont need any controls, besides x is a speed birst. Keep hitting x, and youre fielders will usually always get the ball, oh and r1 is a dive.As for hitting, square is a power swing, x is a normal swing, and circle is a bunt. You can also control which field you hit the ball to by pressing right on the directional pad for right field, left for left, and center is up. I havent tried MLB 15 yet, but the rest of them are very playable. The sound of the pitch coming to the batter is starting to get softer and softer though, so youre probably better off with an earlier version like MLB 07. I have this one, and I love it. You can get it for like a dollar. lol For PS3.I had a very hard time with MLB 14, as they release te games, they get harder with the newer releases.

Just to clarify. If the logic board in the USB enclosure is dead, the drive is probably still usable in another enclosure or directly connected. But if the logic board on the drive itself is dead, nothing can access the drive. Ive heard that modern drives are so sensitive that they have finely-tuned parameters for that particular set of platters stored on the board, so even if you could swap in a logic board from another drive of the exact same make and model, it still wouldnt work. I assume the reason is that no two magnetic platters are ever exactly the same, even if they were made at the same factory, in the same batch, on the same day, by the same people and processes.

That shouldnt happen. When you die, you recover your items fast. that is not a problem.

As far as a more powerful swing, press square instead of x. If you hold up and press square, itll usually always hit a home run if you hit it right.For catching the ball, you want to turn on automatic fielding.

Dingo? bingo! Now the thingo! (sorry just had to).Im pleased to say the problem is now fixed and I got speech, it even seems the toke library does support supernova which is cool. I definitely like the idea of the circle and the use of different footstep sounds, I also did like the use of sterrio to show where on the outer circle you happened to be, though I assume in the main game the circles will be much bigger (especially further on). The only things i will say is it would be nice to lower the door sound to show a door that is south of you, particularly when going round the circle, a have I visited before key will also be needed I think to help you tell which passages you have been down and which not. Im also pleased to say the descriptions of the arched rooms were read out fine too, though by the time we get to longer and more cosmetic descriptions we might be in need of a repeat description key as well.There were only t
 wo slight technical hickups. Firstly, I didnt seem to be able to change from screen reader to sapi during the game. the only two items on the menu were exit and start whether i hit arrows or enter. I did test the game with sapi by exiting supernova, and it ran just the ssame, but if there was a way to change in game I mustve missed it. Second, I noticed that when i tried to run the fresh installer I was given a please uninstall the previous version message. not an issue, however I can see that being fun when there are save files and scores and what not.Btw, the Entombed mailing list is still up, albeit it hasnt been very active for a while, and obviously people there would definitely appreciate knowing about the gamee. so, Entombed! Arch hunter worked fine, and Im very eager to see what comes next.

Hi,so, this works perfectly for me on my windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit with SP1 when using the latest version of NVDA, 2015.1.I noticed, though, that there are no settings or anything like that when I press escape to get out of the exploration mode into the system menu. All I see even then is still just start and exit.With NVDA disabled, sapi doesnt work at all, however, same as Dark. And Im sure it should be working fine too, Im using it in my own project that Im currently developing.Ill be happy to investigate or try anything if you need but at the moment I cant think of anything that could be causing Sapi not to work.thanks,Lukas

@trentonThe client I mention in the first post, Mega Irc, is accessible, once some preconfiguration is done to it - see the PG13 version of it on the page I link to. Unfortunately, I dont know how to get a standard version working (so it doesnt connect to their server by default). Once thats achieved, I can probably connect and do the rest from there but I@m not entirely sure.Thanks for the recommendation though.

Glad to hear its working Dark!@Sean, that sounds like your PC cant run Unity games. Im not sure what Unity doesnt support PC wise, but its fairly broad (Darks XP system is working.) I would imagine some older laptops might not work if they dont support the minimum graphics level. I have Entombed set on minimum graphics requirements, but that might still be too much if the laptop or PC doesnt have a common graphics card.

Ah, thats why its an extension/addon.With chatzilla particularly, you can type:irc://irc.someStrangeSever.org/room, and it goes straight to the chatzilla client.Havent tried it however with BirdIRC yet. It opens a chat in a non-html window.

@Dingo, Im afraid still no go. When the game starts, I get the grey screen thing, and silence, and only spacebar will begin the water sfx. wonce that begins, no amount of escape right arrow enter escpa,e or escape right arrow, right arrow enter escape did any good, I still had no speech at all.I went to www.kitchinssinc.net and ran the delusalex.exe file which is a sapi fix that restores to defaults and solves errors, I also reset my default voice in the control panel from my usual realspeak daniel back to the standard for xp, microsoft sam. No go on either count.I wonder if there is an issue in sapi support somewhere? I can certainly say sapi works with other programs (I checked just in case), and I have done all the monkeyings with sapi that I can think of and it seems fine at my end. I really! hope this can be fixed.

It turns out, Tolk needed some extra .DLL files and it was right there in the first paragraphs of the documentation. I must have missed it. I also had placed the SAPI .dll in the wrong spot. Ive uploaded the new version. Dark, and everyone else who it wasnt working for, could you try it again? I think it might work for you now.The .MSI format stands for Microsoft Installer (or something like that.) Its a little safer than running an .EXE file. Many people are rightfully wary of .exe files because they could be anything. A .MSI is always an installer.As for the system menu, make sure youre able to move around the dungeon before pressing escape. Thats actually a prytty neet idea. Though, planet cracking technicly is mining planets, its done on a large scale and what crash is describing is the extremely old methid of planet cracking, where one simpply inputs the same coordinates to attempt to crack at a mineral pocket. While I see his point on how that can get really repetitive at times, I did ask the players weather they wanted the old system taken out, and they said keep it in. I am working on debris salvaging, im just having difficulty deciding how I want it to work.

It will work on XP. I just changed the SAPI implementation so its probably a problem with that. I didnt think Tolk needed any more DLLS, but maybe it does. Ill check through the documentation. Ill post again when Ive updated the install file.

Methinks it wont work well on XP. I just installed all the components for Entombed 1.05b test and it runs just fine. This file is still not running so I cant install. It looks like Ill be using Windows 7 or will just have to wait for the Mac version.Its funny, because the only reason I keep XP around and still love it is because it runs so many old programs and doesnt have the screwed up Vista and later interface. Oh well, maybe it is time I shut the door on Windows. Afterall, Im using OS X full timen ow.I still wonder why the installer wont run? Ill redownload the file just to see ifthat helps. I just wonder why it says .msi.exe for the file extension?

Well Im sticking with xp for precisely the reasons you mention, Im perfectly happy with xp in its interface and compatibility so I do hope Jason fixes this error, sinse I know Im not the only person using it, and hay why should I miss out on entombed 2 just because microsoft are money grabbing, obsoleting scumbags.Still thats a debate weve had previously and I dont see the point in having it again, suffice it to say I have far more faith in jason than I do in microsoft, so I do hope this gets fixed.`

Try loading it up, then press Enter.That will start the game (even if the SAPI isnt speaking.)Then try moving left or right. The environment sounds dont start working until you take at least one step. The fact that youre hearing water means the game is working but the speech isnt.After youve moved, press escape, then right arrow, then enter. That will toggle the voice engine from Tolk to SAPI and vice versa. See if it start speaking then.Press escape again to get back to the game so you can move.If that doesnt work, try Escape, right arrow, right arrow, enter. That will change the default voice on SAPI.

Sounds to me like you accidentally moved off of the direct touch option. Open any of the games that youre having trouble in and then perform the VoiceOver rotor gesture until you get to the option that says direct touch. When you do, things should start working properly again.

Actually there are loads (possibly the majority indeed), but that really isnt much of a description. off the top of my head there is drakor (which I just was playing), sie fate, the new game I found, the exploring sections of crimson moon, Monster breeder, the battles in uncharted peak (the main game has destination clicking but the battles are grid based), Muelsfel rise of the golems, assuming that one is still available, The Dark grimoiore, urban dead (though that is more grid based, and parts os sryth. To be honest though playing a game for whether you click directions or whether you click an actual destination on a map really doesnt strike me as good reasoning, sinse there are lots of good games from Warriors 2 and the reborn to metroplexities and KoL which work on click a destination and are no worse for it.Actually if your looking for games with a usual n s e w setup Id personally suggest trying out some muds and inter
 active fiction games sinse those always do, plus have likely more in the way of actual rooms than at least some of the browser games do.

An old game at not even 2 years old (and that is not counting background stories and updates), [[wow]], I believe you and I have rather different deffinitions, sinse my audiogames collection has games like gma tank commander original produced in 2002, and when we get onto console games I have a snes and several other old consoles, including the original kirbys dremland produced in 1986, not to mention of course games like original mega man from 1987 (though I own that on a compilation for the game cube not the oroginal cartridge).

Hi.When I press enter on the installer, I get a command line Windows that appears for a second. NVDA says something like c and then it exits. What requirements/components does this need? Im using a WIndows XP VM on myMac although I can get other VMs like 7.As for the Mac version, Ill be waiting for that. Do you have an idea of which OS X versions youll be supporting. Im running Yosemite, but Im just curious how old your system has to be to use this. Also, are you going to use the standard Apple speech synthesis engine? Ive dreamed of using Alex with Entombed for a long time now. I hope this actually works. Keep up the great work.

@Dingo, Im afraid still no go. When the game starts, I get the grey screen thing, and silence, and only spacebar will begin the water sfx. wonce that begins, no amount of escape right arrow enter escpa,e or escape right arrow, right arrow enter escape did any good, I still had no speech at all.I went to www.kitchinssinc.net and ran the delusalex.exe file which is a sapi fix that restores to defaults and solves errors, I also reset my default voice in the control panel from my usual realspeak daniel back to the standard for xp, microsoft sam. No go on either count.I wonder if there is an issue in sapi support somewhere? I can certainly say sapi works with other programs (I checked just in case), and I have done all the monkeyings with sapi needed. I really! hope this can be fixed.

@Danny I dont recall my credits, but I think it was somewhere around 100 k.As regards levelling and rewards I agree fully that you should have to work for things, however one thing I do not particularly like is making that work grindy and uninteresting. As it stands a player would have to do about 10 cargo missions to get a hauling ship, or fly around in a freighter and get very lucky with an asteroidand mining, although with how few roids seem to be around and the short range of scanners on the starter ships this seems less likely. Then, once that is done and a player has their haulage ship for 50 k or so, they will need to haul about 100 asterois (at roughly 46 k per go), to get one of the ships with a million tag price mark. Im not against working as I said, but it does strike me the gaps in price and activities and the huge amount of work involved, not to mention that should your battleship get blown up in your first battle that is all your investment
  down the tubes make life a tad hard for new players who dont have their crusers and planet crackers and exploring ships and what not,  plus of course as Mike pointed out with no ship info, its easy to make buying mistakes. Id suggest personally having a number of activities that pilots could alternate between, some of which entailed random exploring and rewards rather than streight out repetitive tasks (I love the sound of the shipwreck exploring on asteroids for this, and as Ive said Id love to see space full of other things to find that pilots could just explore and use, like debris to collect, old satellites to blow up, dwarf planets to mine, gas giants or nebulae to gas extract from, stars to do the dangerous business of plasma extracting from etc, indeed as Ive said the more things to find in space the better Ill be pleased), and also having some sort of experience system meaning that all your work wouldnt be lost if y
 ou lost a ship. For the experience system, what Id personally suggest is a system that works on promotions according to what activities youve done and pays you more according to your experience in that activity. So, say have ranks for everything you can get paid for, bounty missions, mining, asteroid hauling, cargo etc, and add a percentage to your rewards based on that rank. So for example a rank 1 cargo hauler might only earn 5k per trip, however once at rank 2 theyd earn 6 k. a rank one roid hauler gets 50 k gross prophet for the roid, a rank 2 gets 60 k, a rank 3 70 k etc. Of course, it takes lots of doing the activity to move up a rank. Id suggest perhaps 10 cargo deliveries for rank 2, 15 for rank 3, 20 for rank 4 etc, (Id not recommend making this exponential sinse exponential levelling can really be a killer to player expectations. For the activities that dont have a clear one to one correspondance, 
 make it to do with amount of money earnt. So, to advance to rank 1 asteroid miner youd have to make 1 mill from mining, for rank 2 1.5 mill, for rank 3 2 mill etc.That way, once youd earnt your first ship, youd have built up some ranks in other activities, and thus even if your first ship got destroyed youd not have as hard a time getting your second one.

Bad news Im afraid this isnt working at all. When I run the game, I get dead and total silence on a grey window. If I hit space, I hear water sounds, but that is it, no sapi, no other sounds or music no nothing. I can absolutely confirm that my sapi is working sinse I use it in other programs. I tried installing in the folder I usually use for games, C:\fun program files, and then in the standard c:\program files but neither helped, I also disabled Avg just in case, and also ran the game with and without supernova running (supernova is one of the least interfering screen readers ever and I dont think Ive ever seen it conflict with anything but I tried just in case),but nothing unfortunately made a difference either. im using xp and sapi 5. On Thursday Ill be heading back to my parents where I have an xp laptop, and I can try the thing on there just in case this is a machine specific problem. I do hope though this is fixable sinse I
  would be severely irritated if I couldnt play the game.
