@Wastelander, thanks, I'll admit it's as much a surprise to me as anyone else. That book sounds useful, but I've certainly not seen it. You might consider making the information easier to get by having some encounters in labs or military bunker dungeons that reveal it, eg, "You find a rotting desk, breaking open the wormy draw you find what looks like a lab jernal"  You could also consider encounters that give the information, or at least possibly give the information, for example you encounter a mutant with a certain mutation who tells you what sort of vial she/he/it drank, or a rambling insane scientist who woffles about a test, though of course being The wastes and being as random mutants and half nuts lab technitions aren't exactly reliable, they might be lying completely.

Perhaps you could correct the above post sinse I'm afraid I have no idea what you were trying to say there. @Joseph, I know what you mean about old sf having a weerd mixture of technologies. I always engage snigger mode when I watch the original 1963 Daleks, and despite a race of mutant aliens who have manufacturered their own robot travel machines running on static electricity, have automatic doors, laser defense systems and neutron bombs capable of wiping out all life on the planet, despite all this they are still! using a back lit slide projector. Hearing  a Dalek say "next slide!" is really amusing, and lead one of my friends and I into some amusing dalek parodies: "The! tape! Is! Tangled! dis! en! tangle! Dis En Tangle! Dis! En! tanble!" . The problem however in any prediction, is having lived through some technological changes, especially the rise of the microchip and cyber age, I've personally lost faith in the old sf standbye idea that technological progress is identical with social progress, an idea which goes right back to  H G Wells and Jules Vern. Neither however do I necessarily think technological progress is automatically leading to ruin or apathy. What I see more is technological development increasingly subordinate only to propping up a status quo and the ability of those in power to maintain that power, eg, if a development such as a self driving car or online sharing of information against copywrite threatens some coorporations bank balance it gets suppressed, while if a development like facebook allows greater increases in control and money for those in charge it passes. That's why I see the next major cha
 nge as a social, rather than technological one, though whether it will be a counter cultural movement similar to the 1960's, a liberation from the increasing levels of social conformity, or an increase in paranoyer and control which will eventually lead us to Huxley's brave new world I don't know. I also think some degree of crash is entirely probable on an economic level. And all of this will of course affect how technology develops, after all there are many things which we currently have! the technology to do from cloning to  farming the ocean floor, to colonizing the moon or flying to mars, but which just aren't happening due to our lovely tendency to look at only what bennifits a particular minority group or interest (usually these days a corporate one). This is where I see Back to the Future's prediction really failing, sinse the world back to the future imagined was an expantion of the freer spirit of the nineties, with it's hov
 er boards and outlandish fashions and preservations of the past (remember the Hill Valley clock tower in glass). One very scary prediction in fact was from the writer of Robocop. When he was asked to return and write the remake, he said that in 1985 when he penned the original film, the idea of a corporation attempting to discredit a police force so that they could have their own franchised lore enforcement service and literally own a city was a very outlandish and science fiction one, however now, 15 years before the film was set it seems worryingly probable.

Hi,something is very odd here. When I try to connect to the game, the client tells me I'm running version 3.6C, even it should be 3.6B. It tells me I'm not running the same version as the server and that I should update, the patch is already installed however. When I try to connect again after the update message, the game tells me that the server is offline. Any ideas here?And my little rant for today: How comes that every game I'm trying to play today doesn't work? End of rant.

I was afraid of that.  It's too bad the bigger companies don't care about accessibility, because as evidenced from this site, Applevis, etc., the blind gaming community could be an impactful group of loyal customers.The Walking Dead is a show where modern-day America has been destroyed by a zombie plague.  The main character, Rick, has to lead his band of survivors through it all.  What makes the show so addictive, in my opinion, is that it really makes you think, about the ethical dilemmas of living in a society like that, and leading a group of people.  They do kill zombies, or "walkers" as they're called, but the show focuses more on the survival aspect, on how to survive and still retain your humanity.

We may release a free demo in tandem with the full paid release - probably would let you explore the town, and one of the maps outside the city limits, or something like that. Or we might not...we haven't come to any decisions about that yet. There currently aren't any plans to release a playable preview demo, if that's what you're asking. Would rather focus our energy on getting the game finished than trying to polish up a functional demo that wouldn't just be a beta test version of the game, you know?

Finally some success. I've just tried Coolsoft with the font I had already used with bassmidi and it worked. First, I got a lot of lag, which wasn't the least surprising though, as the latency was set to 250ms. After adjusting that to a more pleasant number, 0 to be exact, the latency was equivalent to the one I had with bassmidi, which was around 0. The best of all, no crackling, and no stuttering anymore, besides the one time it stuttered when I was using the onscreen keyboard, but that's rare enough that I don't get annoyed. Even if it did happen more frequently, Coolsoft would have some checkboxes - "enable hardware mixing", for instance - that could be unchecked, or I could slightly raise the latency value, so as to decrease the possibility of stuttering. For now I'm content with how it works though.

Hi,thanks, now I can connect. But the game is all weird. Every time I equip my axe, half the game keys stop working. I can't change or reload weapons, I can't walk or shoot. I can go into the savezone menu, which tells me I have reputation without any number at all when I try to get something. What's wrong here?

Ok... I check out the answer my quick question. This might be wrong, but if new user wishes to play swamp, they would first have to get the v5 from the site and then get the patch. Of cource there is the ooption of someone extracting the patch and applying it to the version 5 and zipping that version back up again and sharing it. Now to see if the patch I have is correct when i have time later to play... I will check the link if it doesn't work. I used getright get the patch off aprones website.

Well. On this wonderful amazing crappy Hp laptop i'm using right now there is no stereo mix at all unless you use the Beats drivers... And those have an equaliser wich you can't get rid of so yeah. OMG. The temperature in hell just dropped another degree. Clang will be used as Microsoft's cross-platform first-stage compiler. El Reg reports.Also mentioned is that MS will be making a build-only toolset in the fashion of Apple's command-line tools. As things stand, that's probably the best news we've ever heard. I just hope they include enough tools to be useful, like resource compilers and the like, else it's just another meaningless olive branch.

*bump*Ok, for writiing packs in mush, I don't think that one exists.  To the poster who said that you can't pan sounds, that's not true at all.  I knot that clok pack that Sneaky wrote uses it, as well as the alter aeon one.  As for writing profiles, it's not as hard as you think.  Read the sample profiles that will give you a nice start.  Think of it like this:Where was your character born?  What was his early life like?What does he/she do when they're around others?What are his/her goals?You don't have to be so extremely detailed, but put something in so that you have a baseline to jump off from, and go from there.  I think people put way to much thought into writing these discouraged.  Just take your time with it, and come up with something.  For example, I base mine a lot on my own life.  But maybe you want to be different.  But you can think of it like that if th
 at helps.  THink of it as a life that you're building for some one.  What are their hopes and dreams?  What do they enjoy doing?  What's their personality like?Should any of you need help, you can find me as Blake Madison.  Always happy to help out cadets, or those that are getting stuck.  We were all their at some point, it's nice to give back.

*bump*Ok, for writing packs in mush, I don't think that one exists.  To the poster who said that you can't pan sounds, that's not true at all.  I know that clok pack that Sneaky wrote uses it, as well as the alter aeon one.  As for writing profiles, it's not as hard as you think.  Read the sample profiles that will give you a nice start.  Think of it like this:Where was your character born?  What was his early life like?What does he/she do when they're around others?What are his/her goals?You don't have to be so extremely detailed, but put something in so that you have a baseline to jump off from, and go from there.  I think people put way to much thought into writing these profiles, get lost in all of it, and get discouraged.  Just take your time with it, and come up with something.  For example, I base mine a lot on my own life.  But maybe you want to be different. 
  But you can think of it like that if that helps.  Think of it as a life that you're building for some one.  What are their hopes and dreams?  What do they enjoy doing?  What's their personality like?Should any of you need help, you can find me as Blake Madison.  Always happy to help out cadets, or those that are getting stuck.  We were all their at some point, it's nice to give back.

hi, I've noticed that when you become a zombie, your character actually keeps playing for a few seconds on his own before dieing. Mine continuessly ran to the left, zapped a vampire with the lightning rod, and started killing a zombie, then he died. Could it be possible to make this a i mode a mode of play, so you can watch patric play on his own? I think that would be very interesting.

Hello all,I'm finding just a few very small tidbits about narrator, mostly on reddit.The shortcut looks as follows:hold down the xbox button until the option to turn off the controller appears, then press the start button, I think it's called menu.Some people have reported the right stick seems to be toggling narrator as well, I don't really like that, lots of people are finding their dashboards randomly talking.There hasn't been any more videos posted about what narrator sounds like, no word if it's coming outside the US yet.This is all I know so far.

@DarkFirst of all, it's not SC, but just "Sightless" or "SK" (if you really have to stretch to abbreviations).That small point asside, I was trying to understand your concept for the game, but what I could vaguely make out sounded interesting.  I ended up watching parts of the films yesterday and wandering around quoting a few lines from the movie, as you do...The one thing I'd like to see, other than an accessible BTTF game and publishers releasing accessible EBooks about the franchise is to have the soundtrack as a trilogy set re-released for the 30th anniversary.  I believe they're really missing a trick here as the original runs of the score were so limited and sold out so quick that only people who knew about it at the time could get one, thus driving the prices on amazon and the like to astronomical levels.

Well at a guess I'd say it's because clang is the best choice for everything. Android was GCC or Clang, iOS is Clang, and MS is MSVC, which doesn't run on either of the other two platforms. And for desktop platforms the story is basically the same since the development environments parallel the child OSes: Mac for iOS, anything for Java, and MSVC for Windows hosts. This is just MS stepping into line, picking up decent standardisation and incidentally being in a much better place to dwarf the competition by providing tools to cross-compile your stuff on anything.Which, honestly, as long as there continues to be choice, is a very good thing. It could of course simply lead to MS once again towering over its competitors, though, which would not.

Hi,just a quick note that I banned the weirdness I described from the game by using the checkup.exe. I still have an empty inventory slot though, and one of the weapons shows up with an absolutely rediculous number in the donation menu, something like 3 trillion or something.  I could donate them endlessly, but I get no reputation for them which is perfectly fine, since I don't own them anyway. I think it was the MP240 or something? Don't kill me if I got the name wrong, it's late here and I'm quite sleepy already.

I mostly understand what your saying, but beyond this my head exploded:create a local variable called barrier, that is a wall with random parameters.delete barrier, since this iteration of hte loop is complete.increment i.repeat the last 4 lines until i is 6500 (Incidentally, that is a lot of objects and the sound pool will probably explode.)delete i, since the loop is complete.Create a local wall variable.I suspect all of this will be done in a forloop, but unfortunately my head explodes every time I attempt to put it into code.

I'm surprised there isn't a topic about this, as it is definitely an enjoyable game. One tip about blocking with your shield - after you pinch, be sure to keep your fingers on the screen - meaning you can't just pinch and release, you have to pinch and then leave them there.Oh and by the way - if you want to practice the pinch gesture, just draw your sword sometime when you're not in danger and you can practice the combat gestures. You'll know you've succeeded in raising your shield because all of the audio around you will get muffled.

Huh, yeah i've noticed its been somewhat unstable lately. Thats the second time its been down for whatever reason, well anyway I suppose its a good thing I already downloaded the sample, i'll just put up the relevant snippet here.The points you raise is generally what I had in mind. I think in those other instances the context of the sound should help make things clearer. Ceilings for example are handled with reverb, and ground you can break with a hammer is only relevant if your standing on top of it, not beneath it. Are there objects that can fall on the player like spikes? I may be mistaken but don't recall encountering those in the Demo. If there are spikes or such, you could perhaps have a rocky cracking sound just before, or when the spike or object starts to drop.

Well yeah but you're likely to find the one-way floors before the ceilings. If it helps, the 3 cursor sounds in Bokurano Daibouken 3 are obviously synthesized, and the difference between solid tiles and solid-but-unhookable tiles is that the latter has a short tone appended to the end of the sound. I'm not really sure how easy it would be to apply this, here, but some sort of layering / concatenation thing might help?

Spoiler ahead!**Finally got her!  Wasted a life and used up all my arrwos but figured out if you jump almost all the way to the left or right of the map, you can get 3 arrow shots in before you have to try to jump over her again.  Might get hit a few times though so be careful!  Health was almost down to 0 and ran out of arrows so jumped an knifed her and that was that.  Pretty intense stuff!**

Spoiler question ahead!**Any tips for Morganna after cauldron on normal?  Feel like I shot her with tons of arrows jumping and moving constantly and strategically trying to use the 3 angel breaths I have.  Can't really knife her because she gets you before you get her.  Sword is definitely the way not to go since she can not only hit you from a reasonable distance but is quick.**Thanks for any assistance.

I love this game. It is awesome. I now learned to use shield blocking. I hought it was a pinch out gesture. Later on I as fighting a monster and ended up screaming out loud because I kept getting hit. And like in any game when I die I have to calm down. I ended up with one life left and were going nooo!

Any Accessible Walking Dead RPG's?

I imagine it would already be on the site if there was such a thing, but I thought I'd ask anyway.  I downloaded a game for my IPhone which is based on the Walking Dead comics, but I couldn't get past the opening screen.  I was really hoping to play it, because it had all the characters, etc.  It just made me wonder if anyone had tried any other games that are based on the show, which is one of my favorites.

Ahoy allHere are the tips that I can think off and I hope they answer your questions at the same time, Mirage.1. Get comfortable with the weapon of your choice: aim to find out the type of weapon which works best for you or the one that you work the best with I.E melee or ranged plus what type of melee and which ranged weapon.Certain weapons are just better than others in certain situations, this you'll find out in time. I.E assault rifles are really good at clearing out hawrds as long as you can do long ranged shooting and know the map well. They however are also very very noisy so they tend to attract zombies specially ar15. machineguns or miniguns( can't really say much about minis as I haven't used them myself) are best for clearing hawrds that are after you or if you are cornered. Braced they do the bestThe Sniper rifle is my personal favourite,1 shot kill can really be cool but of course I wouldn't expect to survive using it with 
 a hawrd coming over specially If it happens to be too cloce2. donate everything for rep that you don't use: Do this at least til you reach level 60If  you work the best with melee lets say, then you don't really need those guns (for now) so all the guns that you hardly use and the ammo for them can just go, buy medkits insteadhowever if you use a specific gun as your primary weapon, the rest can be donated along with the ammo you don't use, med kits will still be needed but not as much as with melee because if you are doing it right, you shouldn't get hit much using guns as compared to melee.This helps you to build up a buffer of rep at early levels so that you don't run out of it and have enough to do whatever it is that you need to do3. Plan on dieing: be sure you'll die, a million billion times, well perhaps ehh I exaggerate a little,but believe me you'll die many times so get used to it. It happe
 ns a lot at lower levels but even the people in range of 1k 2k levels still die now and then. Its just a part of the game accept it and continue playing.4. learn the map: learn the map you are in as well as you can. It helps you to run around getting loot and wakking off rotted heads much faster.I am average at all the other maps but map1 I know like the back of my own hand and I hardly if ever use beacons to get from one place to other. I never bothered with coordinates myself,but if you want to find a fixed place they can come handy5. skill pointsRemember, slash that is /reset can be used to reset all your skill points so that you can elocate them again as you wish. this can either be done once a day  or once per level. this is useful for trying out different skill point combinations.  max out your speed at first then worry about other skills. at level 60 or so I had about 35 points in speed and the rest in high armor and a few times I did even go
  with sneak. at level 90 or so though, I have 40 in speed and the rest in sneak,and after that I just try and max out high armor. replace the high armor points with whatever you are most comfortable with. People also have different combinations more suited to their playstyle I.E speed armor health that's the order they choose to invest their skill points in again this is just a matter of finding out what type of skills work the best with your playstyleThis is all I can think off at the moment, although I'm sure others will come up with more.Hope that helps somegrryf

Audacity does this fairly well, so long as you're not transposing too far. You're definitely going to get more and more distortion, the farther from the original key you get, but if you're transposing somewhere in the neighborhood of 1/2 to 1 1/2 steps, you should be alright. Just select the audio and then in the effects menu, select "Change Pitch."Alternatively, you can use www.transposr.com, which does basically the same thing. I haven't noticed a significant difference in quality between the Audacity results and those I've gotten the couple of times I've used transposr.com; hope that helps!

Yep, the soundtrack would be cool, I remember it very well and it'd be awesome if they made a rerelease. As to the game, well my above plot about the Delorian being abandoned and the technological advancement in the 2015 of the film relating to reverse engineering it was the basis for carrying on the story. How that ties into a game would depend upon what sort of game you wished to create. For example, if you began with that premiseand wanted an action game you could have one in which you needed to pilot the time train to the right time to rebury the delorian and set history back on trackk, making things effectively a time based, rather weerd action affair. I'm not convinced action would be the way to go with a back to the future game, it'd suit something of an adventure game better I think, perhaps a game set in various different time periods as marty from 2015, (or one of his close relatives if Mr. J fox didn't fancy voice acting), is sent b
 ack to peace together why the future didn't come out as marty remembered and discovers the truth about the missing delorian, culminating in a need to take a second delorian from a future period and drop it off in the cave in 1885 to be discovered and reverse engineered to produce the technological boom in the early 21st century which otherwise didn't happen.

Actually, Dark, I'd challenge your assertion that the idea that technological progress goes hand in hand with societal progress is a hallmark of sci-fi at large. If anything, I find that more often than not, it's the opposite. You certainly had a few "golden age" authors who saw technological advancement as the end of all human ills, but for the most part, I've found that sci-fi uses the future to paint a commentary on the present realities of the human condition, and how those realities may play themselves out. This goes all the way back to the earliest SF writers - Mary SHelley's Frankenstein, and Wells' The Island of Dr. Moreau come to mind. Then you get to more modern writers and you find the same thing in most of the big names. Ray Bradbury, Phillip Dick, Michael Crichton are all authors that come to mind in whose writing we find a future that isn't socially ideal - if anything, the advances in technology just serve to underscore the pr
 oblems that society already faces. So really I think there are two distinct schools of sci-fi - the one is optimistic, and sees technology as the savior as humanity; the other is a little more grim, and sees technology as the crutch with which humanity tries, unsuccessfully, to hide its flaws and avoid the consequences of its wrongdoings. Just my take on the genre, of course.

At least on my end, it clearly said C.  I checked it just before I installed the "correct" patch, and it said C.  Then after I installed the patch, it said B.Maybe the zombies are messing with your computer, Aprone.  Heheheheh.

correction. It does work on Windows 8 and above, but not through direct execution. Here's how you launch it so it works:1. go to the directory you are executing.2. hit shift tab until you're on the address bar.3. Right-click it, and copy the address.4. hit windows+x and then a to go into administrator command prompt.5. type cd6. make sure the mouse is focused on the command prompt, right-click, paste the address in, and hit enter.7. type the name of the executable you want to launch, and press enter.note: cd must have a space before the address is pasted in.I hope this helps.

It is in dded an issue with vb6 and direct x, certainly not supported by windows8 and up anymore. Only way is through virtual machines. However, vmware player is no longer free, so I don't know anymore.Correction: Vmware player is still free, but is no longer a stand-alone product. Therefore, when download vmware workstation 12 make sure you get the version for personal use.

Oh you can totally kill bosses with sword. I actually killed final boss's last form with sword on normal, cause I had long since ran out of arrows. hahahaha. as for the Q9 on insane post, can't actually say using fortune fields to make your self invinsible really counts does it? that's just using a game feature to intentionally cheat your way through the game, in a way. lol. can you do it without using this unintentional exploit though? that's what I was getting at.

Do certain weapons work only on certain maps?I have what I believe is an M240, one of those guns that you have to hit 9 or 0 in order to activate.  It tells me, "You have one round in the chamber."  But so far, I've not been able to make it fire.I thought maybe it would only work on some of the later maps.
