I think it really comes down to the goals of the site and way users
use it. Many brochure ware sites exist as a one time destination
where the entire purpose is to entice users to contact the company.
In those cases putting the contact info on at the top of EVERY page
makes sense.

Sitemaps don't need to live on separate pages and they don't just
serve lost users.
Sitemaps can live comfortably at the foot of the page [1],[2],[3],[4]
and are particularly powerful from an SEO perspective [5]. It's there
when you need it, and it's out of the way when you don't.

1. I believe that the 'lost user' will have scrolled to the bottom
of the page and, if executed as well as the Plusnet example ([3] in
my previous post), they will find the sitemap.
2. Sitemaps in the footer are a safety net - not a principle
navigation tool

I agree with that a sunrise alarm clock is delightful. Absolutely my
last alarm clock.
Mine doesn't make any sound and allows any lamp to be plugged into it,
so it is a lovely as the lamp you choose (if you hide the box).
It is a small black box (~3inx5inx2in), with a red digital clock, 6
a pie menu really is!

where - if we've got the time and space to do it - we can
do hundred of iterations too. That's not to say it's everyone's
bag and we do have to be careful that iteration doesn't just mean
repeat but includes incremental, quantifiable improvement.

This is called content analysis. It's a recognized research method that was
developed for texts but has been applied to video or images. The best
strategy for consistent coding in content analysis is to create a codebook
of what it is your looking for and keep to it.

I've always thought that Safari had a great location bar auto
complete function. It simply suggests a completed URL in the location
bar as you type based on history and bookmarks. A drop down list
appears below that filters as you type. You can either continue
typing, hit enter to select the

into development. Don't make assumptions regarding what they will
find useful or what they will understand. The best programmers get
it and want all the info. The best thing you can do is bring

Another good example of teasing compelling content/functionality is the very
2.0 practise of tagging 'Beta' to the end of unfinished stuff. Songbird was

down other apps that seem to have been in Beta for ages.
