at Canonical had more sense.
The problem is that they've dumbed down the User tools to make it easy for a
newbie to set up, and then broken a pretty standard requirement. There is no
way that you should need root privileges to add a printer. Where's the risk?

I would have thought that the Ubuntu developers would have done all this by
now. After all they claim that Linux is easier to set up than Windows these

This may be a red herring, because I also had path length issues on the FAT32
partition, so that may have been the cause. However, if so, why did it
apparently work with the '-n'?
In the end, I used Sean's version, which worked fine once I'd got the folder

Is anyone using Skype? On Kubuntu 12.10, video has suddenly stopped working,
although the webcam kernel module has been loaded and works in other
applications.
When I try to enable video in Skype the list box says 'No device found'.

say to do just that without any guidance on what to do.
Any thoughts.
If all else fails, I'll take up Chris's kind offer of the binaries, but I'm not
sure what to do with
them either at the moment.

I went into Muon, (which is
now the default
Package Manager in Kubuntu, (and presumably Ubuntu)) and marked the package as
locked to
stop the Upgrade Manager nagging me about a new version being available.
