Ummm ... sometimes we tend to inflate the magnitude of a problem ... just try it out.  Plug a straight key [or your keyer] into the KEY jack on the K3/0 and see if it works.  I believe the odds are way better than even that it will, especially if the cable plugged into the 1258 I/O jack is

Dwight, I don't have experience with Remote Rig, and Brandon's suggestions usurp mine. One thing I know is that if you are using USB mode instead of DATA A, you will have to set compression to zero and set the TX EQ to flat. Failure to do that will result in distorted data transmissions.

Dwight, You have the audio level set correctly if you are getting 4 bars on the ALC meter with the 5th one flickering at times. Are you using DATA A mode? If you are using USB mode, you must manually turn off compression and set the equalizer flat. Using DATA A does that automatically.

To be practical, there just is no way for a maker of transceivers to keep up with all 3rd party generators of software/hardware. We depend on Elecraft engineers to be working on Elecraft products. Also, there is a 22 page manual for K3/0 and the remote protocol for Remote Rig, which Elecraft

Hi! I have used the K3 mini extensively over the year. Both over a ADSL line and 4G. . Latency is dependent on the internet access - on ADLS it is 10 ms on 4G 30-40 ms.The K3 mini is so well established and works so well with the K3 and the RRC 1258 units so it is just for you to go and buy it.
