Yes, you solder them on the back. That is an acceptable way of mounting
components, and in some cases (not this instance) provides better RF
performance than thru-hole mounting - you will find an instance where
that mounting is used for better performance on the RF board in the PLL

This weekend I noticed that the CW sound was distorted and full of artifacts.
This was listening to my own sending via headphones, keying was via N1MM
through the serial port.
I'm using MCU 2.22 / DSP 1.88.

Yes, it means that you only need to do CAL PLL once, on 40 meters.

top of page 9 of the K160RX manual - or else you have an old K160RX kit
and failed to read the errata sheet).
CAL PLL is only run on 40 meters since the advent of firmware version
2.00. You do not have to run CAL
I have K2 s/n 4635 which has given me good service since I built it. About
a month ago, I started using a 6 meter transverter (XV50) that I built.
That works well with the K2. However, since then I have had two occurrences
of a problem. The first time I fixed it (not sure how) or it cleared
