IMPORTANT NSA NOTICE

Our tracking 'bots have notified us of this post,
so we ask all red-blooded Americans to aid us
in the seeking and capture of this dangerous fugitive
from...from...uh...justice...yeah, that's the ticket.

We already sent several operatives to his last known
location in Paris, and we haven't heard from them.
We sent more to his reputed lair in the Netherlands,
and they came back empty-handed, spouting gibberish
about being defeated by Matt Damon-like karate skills,
  and reeking of cannabis.

Clearly this is a dangerous individual, right up there
on our Most Wanted List with Edward Snowdon
and those guys who make South Park.

If you see this person, DO NOT APPROACH HIM.
He is reputed to be armed with cream pies and toxic humor
and in the company of a babe who looks a lot
like Franke Potente, but with bigger breasts.
There is a possibility that the breasts are weapons.

DON'T TAKE ANY CHANCES!
Just phone us, and we'll come get him.
Or just phone *anybody*, and we'll hear it.

Bringing Heaven on Earth:

Fabulous look-back article at one of the larger millenarians of the 20th
Century. It also reads so parallel to aspects of the history of Maharishi and
TM. Would make a great thesis. Comparing Mao Tse Tung and Maharishi Mahesh Yogi
as two of the 20th Century's larger millenarian revolutionaries. Don't get
distracted or derailed by the detail but a comparison is quite parallel in many
elements, even as the present presents itself to either movement, post-Mao
communist China or communal TM.org after Maharishi.

Take a read, it is interesting by comparison:

And you're lying now. You saw the quote of your post I put up; you even
complimented yourself on it. So there's no issue of "misremembering," no
matter how leaky your memory may be getting, nor any issue of having to "follow
links," since I saved you the trouble of clicking.

Nor is there, in fact, any issue about whether Robin and I were serious in our
denunciations of each other in that exchange. We were playing games, as you
obviously knew when you wrote the post I quoted, and as everyone else knew when
they read our posts. (Oh, except Steve, who had to have the situation explained
to him in very simple terms before he understood.)

<< Opinions expressed may also change over time. That is not lying, either.
Your hatred distorts your ability to use words correctly, so you make false
accusations. >>

Mmm. Except that you claimed you didn't know, not that you had a different
opinion back then.

Feste, you can't dig yourself out of this except by distorting the facts. I
predicted you didn't have the integrity to back me up in refuting Richard's
lie, and I was right.

<< There is no need to respond with links that "prove" what you are saying,
because unlike you I have no interest in going back to the archives to check on
something I may have said a long time ago. >>

Again: No need. I reproduced the post in question for you, and you read it and
found it good. But then, rather than acknowledge what you knew at the time, you
pretended it was all a big mystery to you.

The very *content* of that exchange with Robin made it obvious that it was all
in fun, just as the content of your post made it obvious that you were well
aware of that. You weren't that clueless then, and you aren't that clueless now.

<< Who cares? Only you. The truth is that you are a malicious individual who
has an obsessive need to brand people you do not like as liars. >>

You have it backwards. It's their lying that leads me not to like them. You
and I had been on pretty good terms until you decided you were going to make
points with Share by attacking me, and began to use dishonesty as a weapon.

I must say it's quite a stretch to characterize someone's opposition to
dishonesty as "malicious" and "a very ugly trait." I suggest that says a lot
more about you than it does about me.

<< Of course you are unable to see it for yourself, but again I ask you: Why
do so many people on this forum despise you? >>

I already told you why: people with integrity are never popular with those who
lack it. Why are you asking again?

<< Why are you always involved in arguments here in which everyone is a liar
except you? >>

Well, I'm not, actually. Most people here are honest, and we have arguments
that don't involve issues of dishonesty. (Ann, DoctorDumbass, Seraphita, John,
Mike, Michael, Paligap, even poor Steve come immediately to mind.) Not even all
my arguments with liars are about their dishonesty.

Or to answer another way, "except you" is because (duh) I don't lie.

<< The best thing you could do now would be to apologize for your insulting
language toward me, but that would require a level of decency on your part that
you have never before shown. >>

You first. If your apology is sincere, I'll likely accept it. Then we'll see
what else needs to be said. I'm not holding my breath, however.

[FairfieldLife] Colin Wilson R.I.P.

2013-12-25 Thread s3raphita
Missed this one! Writer Colin Wilson died on December 5th so he had the
misfortune of dying on the same day as Nelson Mandela! (Like Aldous Huxley and
C S Lewis with John F Kennedy.)

I've read and enjoyed a fair few of his books. He had his own cod philosophy
which involved something he called "Faculty X", a latent ability in people to
achieve intenser forms of consciousness. You could never work out exactly what
he was getting at but his interest in abnormal sexual behaviour and in the
paranormal worked well in his fiction. Some dismissed him as a "scrambled
egghead"!

Although he never learned TM he took a positive interest in it and wrote the
forward to Joyce Collin-Smith's autobiography of her time with MMY in the
sixties in the UK. You may find the following extract from Wilson's "Dreaming
to Some Purpose" of interest:

"But I was also aware that too much relaxation can be dangerous. I recalled a
strange story told to me by a friend called Joyce Collin-Smith, the
sister-in-law of one of Ouspenky’s most brilliant disciples, Rodney Collin. In
August 1960, she became a follower of the Hindu guru, the Maharishi Mahesh
Yogi, who was convinced that the world could be transformed by ‘transcendental
meditation’. S he described how she had gone to the house the Maharishi had
rented near Regents Park, taking a flower as an offering. The Maharishi, a
little man with a high voice and a sing-song Indian accent, taught her a brief
mantra in Sanskrit, which immediately brought a strange, deep sense of peace.
He told her to go and sit near the window, on the carpet; as she did so, the
mantra seemed to be repeating itself in her brain without her volition. Time
slipped peacefully by - three hours - before she noticed the evening traffic in
the street, and realised she had to get home to cook her husband’s dinner.

From then on, the mantra would plunge her into the same deep state of blissful
serenity. She saw the Maharishi do the same thing repeatedly; once a long queue
stretched down the corridor of a hotel in Oxford, and the Maharishi saw each
person in turn, accepted the flower, then touched the donor on the forehead and
told him to go and sit down; all obviously experienced the same instantaneous
feeling of peace.

Joyce was by then acting as the Maharishi’s unpaid secretary, and it was she
who took a phone call from the management saying that an old lady who lived on
the same floor was complaining about the noise and threatening to leave. Joyce
asked the Maharishi: ‘What shall we do?’ ‘Do nothing’ said the Maharishi,
smiling benevolently, ‘It will be all right’. And so it was. They heard nothing
more from the old lady.

This was one of many examples of the Maharishi’s odd powers, which were to some
extent telepathic – as was illustrated on another occasion, when he read
Joyce’s mind as she sat in the audience listening to him, and answered the
question she meant to ask. Every one of the Maharishi’s followers seemed to be
happy and light-hearted; he was surrounded by an atmosphere of gaiety.

But Joyce soon noticed that not all was well. Some of the disciples began
spending more and more time sitting in a state of bliss, and it was obvious
that they were becoming less and less capable of coping with everyday life.
They didn’t want to come back and face reality.

Joyce herself began to experience something more disturbing. She found it
increasingly difficult to focus her mind, and seemed to see too deep into the
underlying reality of things. She had always understood intellectually that
everything changes, but now she could actually see it happening. Looking at her
hands, she would see them change into the hands of a child, and at the same
time into the hands of an old woman., then into a skeleton. Looking at a chair,
she could see it as new timber still smelling of sap, and as a worn out old
chair about to be thrown on the bonfire. Everything fluctuated all the time.

Finally she could stand it no longer, and decided to commit suicide. She took a
rope and went to a tree in the garden. But as she looked at the rope, she
suddenly noticed that it was staying still, remaining unchanged. Instead of
dissolving into strands, then into flax, or becoming old and frayed, it was
holding steady. The emergency had shaken her subconscious mind awake. Which
meant that she had to set out to train her mind to fix her attention on the
present. And as soon as she learned to do this, the problem went away.

By this time she was becoming disillusioned with the Maharishi, who was
changing from a child-like guru into a super-tycoon, so she left the movement.

Joyce had discovered the same trick I had learned to control [my] panic
attacks: focusing the mind to prevent it from wavering. The answer lies in one
word: attention."

Wilson had made. He assumed they were genuine diary entries of the writer and

16-year-old Israeli-born actress, is one of a series of unashamedly Christian
biblical epics due to appear next year, marking an unprecedented overture by
Hollywood to America’s evangelical heartland.

In March audiences will be treated to Noah, a $150million special
effects-laden extravaganza, in which Russell Crowe will build an ark and rescue
mankind from the Great Flood. Harry Potter actress Emma Watson will play his
adopted daughter, and Sir Anthony Hopkins is portraying Methuselah. The ark was

Noah will be followed by Sir Ridley Scott’s Exodus, in which Christian Bale,

reconstructed in southern Spain, with Bale wielding a bow and arrow and
Sigourney Weaver playing the Pharaoh’s wife. Scott has described the film, in a

Another movie of Moses’s life called Gods and Kings is also planned. Steven
Spielberg was due to make it but has been replaced by Ang Lee, who won the Best
Director Oscar this year for Life of Pi.
Meanwhile, Son of God will tell the story of Jesus’s life, with Portuguese
actor Diogo Morgado in the lead role.
Will Smith is said to be planning a film based on the story of Cain and Abel,
and Brad Pitt is rumoured to be playing Pontius Pilate in a separate project.
There will also be Resurrection, in which a Roman soldier is sent to

This was one of many examples of the Maharishi’s odd powers, which were to some

[FairfieldLife] RE: Happy birthday God

2013-12-25 Thread jr_esq
S3,

I've reconsidered the birth date of Jesus. Here is my conclusion which I've
posted in another forum:

Nobody really knows the exact birth date of Jesus. IMO, the early Christian
Church fathers used western astrology to reconstruct the date of December 25.
Specifically, December 21 is the winter solstice and is considered to be the
death of the Sun. Then they added three days after this date to represent the
birth or the rising of a new Sun.

However, IMO, Jesus was actually born on March 21, 2 BC, at about 19:00 hours
in Bethlehem, Israel. On that day, there were several good yogas that would
indicate the birth of a king. For example,

 1. The Sun was was exalted in Mesha or Aries and was in conjunction with
Mercury.

 2. Jupiter was exalted in Karka or Cancer and in conjunction with Chandra.

 3. The time would have been about 7:00 PM since that would be the time when
the Chandra would be in exact conjunction with Jupiter. The bright star
mentioned in the bible would have been Jupiter. And, at this specific time,
the conjunction would have occurred at mid-heaven or the 10th house from the
rashi of Tula or Libra, and Chandra was in the nakshatra of Pushyami.

The three wise men who were looking for this birth were actually astrologers
from various parts of the ancient world. It is believed that one of them came
from as far as India. When they found Jesus they paid homage to him and gave
their gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh.

 And the rest is history.

The ark was
built on Long Island, New York.

Noah will be followed by Sir Ridley Scott’s Exodus, in which Christian Bale,
as Moses, will part the Red Sea. Scenes from ancient Egypt have been
reconstructed in southern Spain, with Bale wielding a bow and arrow and
Sigourney Weaver playing the Pharaoh’s wife. Scott has described the film, in a
less than godly phrase, as “F-- huge”.
There will also be Resurrection, in which a Roman soldier is sent to
investigate Christ’s death. It has been likened to “Gladiator, with a mystery

Phil Cooke, a film-maker and media consultant to Christian organisations, said
Hollywood’s epiphany had financial, not spiritual, origins. “What’s happened is
they’ve understood it’s very good business to take Christians seriously, and
this is a real serious market,” he said. “For years Hollywood bent over

learn these skills. You can't keep up with this without dedication. That
means ideally, you need to be alone most of the time with no husband or
children or pets to look after. If you have to work at a job you'd want
to be getting one where you're on a computer most of the time or at
least have a laptop and Wi-Fi available all the time.

At home, you'd want to be sitting at a computer desk with a large
flat-screen so you can have several windows open all at once - one for
the news reader, one for Microsoft Word or EditPad for composing, and
one with a browsers to do research using Google. You need to be online
at least sixteen hours a day except for sleep; if you go out, be sure to
take a laptop with you; or at the least a smartphone; so you can monitor
everything that posted to the discussion group every few minutes.

I've been doing this since 1999, so I can say without the least

Buck, lets go over this one more time:

Get rid of the word processor and get a free copy of the EditPad plain
text editor. Then, get yourself a free Google Mail account and specify
in Yahoo Groups to send all FFL messages to you via your G-Mail account;
then, get a free copy of the Chrome web Browser. It's not complicated.

EditPad is a general-purpose text editor, designed to be small and

editor. EditPad works with Windows.

2. In the slide-out menu (known as the Charms Bar) that appears, click

Thanks, Ann, for you short response.

You've got to realize, Ann, that this posting takes practice, just
like if you wanted to get good at playing Angry Birds. It takes
years to learn these skills. You can't keep up with this without
dedication. That means ideally, you need to be alone most of the
time with no husband or children or pets to look after. If you have
to work at a job you'd want to be getting one where you're on a
computer most of the time or at least have a laptop and Wi-Fi
available all the time.

At home, you'd want to be sitting at a computer desk with a large
flat-screen so you can have several windows open all at once - one
for the news reader, one for Microsoft Word or EditPad for
composing, and one with a browsers to do research using Google. You
need to be online at least sixteen hours a day except for sleep; if
you go out, be sure to take a laptop with you; or at the least a
smartphone; so you can monitor everything that posted to the
discussion group every few minutes.

I've been doing this since 1999, so I can say without the least
hesitation, this isn't  part-time endeavor - if you're a really
serious poster - otherwise you'll just be considered a poser or a
troll. It's not for just a casual conversation like on a chat room.

Don't confuse him, Richard. He'll think you mean he shouldn't do what I
suggested.

Buck, EditPad will also do the job, but if you have Windows, Notepad will do
you fine for plain-text posts. Pasting text from the word processor into
Notepad strips out any formatting it may have acquired in the word processor,
and when you then paste it into Neo, it'll come out in sans-serif type (that's
what all my posts are in). If you want anything in bold or italic, that's easy
to do with the Rich Text editor in Neo. I make all my stuff bold because Neo's
lightface sans-serif type is so light it can be hard to read.

Mostly I type my posts directly into the text box, but for a very long post
with interpolated responses, I'll use Notepad. I've never used a word processor
to post anything in Neo.

 Don't do it Buck!

Don't ever copy and paste from a word processor into the Neo text box - if you
do, your stuff will look like Judy's - all bold and messed up with a serif type
face. You should always use a sans-serif type face, like Arial, when posting to
the internet. And, reserve the use of bold for the really important stuff.

Forget the Windows Notepad - it SUCKS compared to the free EditPad. If you
really want to get serious about posting, get the Mozilla Thunderbird - it's
free. Get away from NEO and Yahoo Mail. No serious professional uses Yahoo Mail
anymore - Yahoo SUCKS!

Buck, try pasting from the word processor into Notepad first (if you're

come out just as if you'd typed it into the Reply box (but no guarantees).

<< Baby Jesus, on this Christmas day please help Yahoo figure this out,

Buck, have you ever considered using a rich-text editor? It's not complicated.

yea, what is the deal just lately with pasting in to neo yahoo? Top down
replying was working fine taking lightly formatted text copy-paste coming over
from OpenOffice Writer word processor.

In the last few days something changed where word-processed writing gets mixed
up upon pasting something that looks perfectly fine from OpenOfficeWriter in to
the yahoo box for writing posts as reply. And new topic posts too now. What a
mess.

The reply box seems to open directly now in rich-text format but it seems to
switch pastings over in to plain text as its neo-yahoo way of handling word
processing from somewhere else. Word processing elsewhere has always worked
fine before until just recently. Is Yahoo trying to reinvent the wheel or
something with some brilliant rewriting of software?

I wish Yahoo would stop doing that. And soon. I got some really important
things written already that I need to post.

This post is written straight in to the box, not word processed otherwise and
not pushing the double-arrow button to switch to plain text.

No, Richard, it's trolling and lying, not parody. You want it to be taken
seriously. You want people to react. That's why you went so crazy when I
started using that macro to shut you down. You kept having to think up new
trolls, and finally you went over the edge.

There have been many people who have taken you seriously, as you know. Michael
did until I clued him in. Poor Share still does, to the point where she even
tries to help you with your lies (with lies she picked up from Barry,
ironically enough). But there really is no hope for Share. You should have some
compassion for her cluelessness and not lead her on. She even took your post to
Ann just now seriously.

No, Judy, it's parody and fun to poke fun at you. You're the only one taking

[FairfieldLife] RE: A scene from our modern American Christmas

Found this in the Onion field, too: Merry Christmas!

SAN FRANCISCO—After a quick yet confident once-over that unfortunately caught
none of the rampant spelling errors, clunky prose, and overly casual language
throughout his cover letter and résumé, job hopeful Mark Lopez hit “send” on
the worst application California-based marketing firm Precision Intermedia has
ever seen, sources confirmed Monday. “Okay, this looks ready to go,” Lopez
said, seconds before sending an email that will inevitably be forwarded to an
estimated 200 Precision Intermedia employees, all of whom will laugh heartily
at his address to the wrong company, his claim of being “detail-orinted,” and
the line “[INSERT EXTRACURRICULARS]” that he forgot to delete from the résumé
template he used. “And…sent.” At press time, Precision Intermedia office
manager Theresa Clark had announced to her colleagues that “this one’s going up
on the bulletin board.”

Re: [FairfieldLife] RE: Posting text to FFL

2013-12-25 Thread Richard J. Williams

Let me re-phrase what I said:

MICROSOFT NOTEPAD SUCKS! NEO SUCKS! YAHOO SUCKS! YOU SUCK!

Do I make myself clear now? NOBODY but a newbie nerd uses MS Notepad for
anything. And, nobody but a nerd uses all bold in their messages.
DO.YOU.UNDERSTAND.NOW?

On 12/25/2013 9:25 PM, authfri...@yahoo.com wrote:

Don't confuse him, Richard. He'll think you mean he shouldn't do what
I suggested.

Buck, EditPad will also do the job, but if you have Windows, Notepad
will do you fine for plain-text posts. Pasting text from the word
processor into Notepad strips out any formatting it may have acquired
in the word processor, and when you then paste it into Neo, it'll come
out in sans-serif type (that's what all my posts are in). If you want
anything in bold or italic, that's easy to do with the Rich Text
editor in Neo. I make all my stuff bold because Neo's lightface
sans-serif type is so light it can be hard to read.

Mostly I type my posts directly into the text box, but for a very long
post with interpolated responses, I'll use Notepad. I've never used a
word processor to post anything in Neo.

*Don't do it Buck! *

Don't ever copy and paste from a word processor into the Neo text box
- if you do, your stuff will look like Judy's - all bold and messed up
with a serif type face. You should always use a sans-serif type face,
like Arial, when posting to the internet. And, reserve the use of bold
for the really important stuff.

Forget the Windows Notepad - it SUCKS compared to the free EditPad. If
you really want to get serious about posting, get the Mozilla
Thunderbird - it's free. Get away from NEO and Yahoo Mail. No serious
professional uses Yahoo Mail anymore - Yahoo SUCKS!

On 12/25/2013 6:02 PM, authfriend@... wrote:

Buck, try pasting from the word processor into Notepad first (if
you're using Windows), then from Notepad into the Reply box. Pick a
suitable line length and hit Return at the end of every line in the

the Reply box (but no guarantees).

<< Baby Jesus, on this Christmas day please help Yahoo figure this out,

Buck, have you ever considered using a rich-text editor? It's not
complicated.

yea, what is the deal just lately with pasting in to neo yahoo? Top
down replying was working fine taking lightly formatted text
copy-paste coming over from OpenOffice Writer word processor.

In the last few days something changed where word-processed writing
gets mixed up upon pasting something that looks perfectly fine from
OpenOfficeWriter in to the yahoo box for writing posts as reply. And
new topic posts too now. What a mess.

The reply box seems to open directly now in rich-text format but it
seems to switch pastings over in to plain text as its neo-yahoo way
of handling word processing from somewhere else. Word processing
elsewhere has always worked fine before until just recently. Is
Yahoo trying to reinvent the wheel or something with some brilliant
rewriting of software?

I wish Yahoo would stop doing that. And soon. I got some really
important things written already that I need to post.

This post is written straight in to the box, not word processed
otherwise and not pushing the double-arrow button to switch to plain
text.
