they decided not to let him appear there so the Masonic Hall was made

I don't know why Microsoft chooses to make such dramatic differences in 
their interfaces between OS's but I can see why people don't like it.

Missed this one! Writer Colin Wilson died on December 5th so he had the 
misfortune of dying on the same day as Nelson Mandela! (Like Aldous Huxley and 
C S Lewis with John F Kennedy.)  

 I've read and enjoyed a fair few of his books. He had his own cod philosophy 
which involved something he called "Faculty X", a latent ability in people to 
achieve intenser forms of consciousness. You could never work out exactly what 
he was getting at but his interest in abnormal sexual behaviour and in the 
paranormal worked well in his fiction. Some dismissed him as a "scrambled 
egghead"!
 

 Although he never learned TM he took a positive interest in it and wrote the 
forward to Joyce Collin-Smith's autobiography of her time with MMY in the 
sixties in the UK. You may find the following extract from Wilson's "Dreaming 
to Some Purpose" of interest:
 

 "But I was also aware that too much relaxation can be dangerous. I recalled a 
strange story told to me by a friend called Joyce Collin-Smith, the 
sister-in-law of one of Ouspenky’s most brilliant disciples, Rodney Collin. In 
August 1960, she became a follower of the Hindu guru, the Maharishi Mahesh 
Yogi, who was convinced that the world could be transformed by ‘transcendental 
meditation’. S he described how she had gone to the house the Maharishi had 
rented near Regents Park, taking a flower as an offering. The Maharishi, a 
little man with a high voice and a sing-song Indian accent, taught her a brief 
mantra in Sanskrit, which immediately brought a strange, deep sense of peace. 
He told her to go and sit near the window, on the carpet; as she did so, the 
mantra seemed to be repeating itself in her brain without her volition. Time 
slipped peacefully by - three hours - before she noticed the evening traffic in 
the street, and realised she had to get home to cook her husband’s dinner.

From then on, the mantra would plunge her into the same deep state of blissful 
serenity. She saw the Maharishi do the same thing repeatedly; once a long queue 
stretched down the corridor of a hotel in Oxford, and the Maharishi saw each

she could see it as new timber still smelling of sap, and as a worn out old 
chair about to be thrown on the bonfire. Everything fluctuated all the time.

Finally she could stand it no longer, and decided to commit suicide. She took a 
rope and went to a tree in the garden. But as she looked at the rope, she 
suddenly noticed that it was staying still, remaining unchanged. Instead of 
dissolving into strands, then into flax, or becoming old and frayed, it was 
holding steady. The emergency had shaken her subconscious mind awake. Which 
meant that she had to set out to train her mind to fix her attention on the 
present. And as soon as she learned to do this, the problem went away.

By this time she was becoming disillusioned with the Maharishi, who was 
changing from a child-like guru into a super-tycoon, so she left the movement.

Joyce had discovered the same trick I had learned to control [my] panic

Buck, have you ever considered using a rich-text editor? It's not complicated. 
 

 yea, what is the deal just lately with pasting in to neo yahoo?  Top down 
replying was working fine taking lightly formatted text copy-paste coming over 
from OpenOffice Writer word processor.   
 

 In the last few days something changed where word-processed writing gets mixed 
up upon pasting something that looks perfectly fine from OpenOfficeWriter in to 
the yahoo box for writing posts as reply.  And new topic posts too now. What a 
mess.  
 

 The reply box seems to open directly now in rich-text format but it seems to 
switch pastings over in to plain text as its neo-yahoo way of handling word 
processing from somewhere else.  Word processing elsewhere has always worked 
fine before until just recently.  Is Yahoo trying to reinvent the wheel or 
something with some brilliant rewriting of software?
 

 I wish Yahoo would stop doing that.  And soon.  I got some really important 
things written already that I need to post.
 

 This post is written straight in to the box, not word processed otherwise and 
not pushing the double-arrow button to switch to plain text.

 Missed this one! Writer Colin Wilson died on December 5th so he had the 
misfortune of dying on the same day as Nelson Mandela! (Like Aldous Huxley and 
C S Lewis with John F Kennedy.)  

 I've read and enjoyed a fair few of his books. He had his own cod philosophy 
which involved something he called "Faculty X", a latent ability in people to 
achieve intenser forms of consciousness. You could never work out exactly what 
he was getting at but his interest in abnormal sexual behaviour and in the 
paranormal worked well in his fiction. Some dismissed him as a "scrambled 
egghead"!
 

 Although he never learned TM he took a positive interest in it and wrote the 
forward to Joyce Collin-Smith's autobiography of her time with MMY in the 
sixties in the UK. You may find the following extract from Wilson's "Dreaming 
to Some Purpose" of interest:
 

 "But I was also aware that too much relaxation can be dangerous. I recalled a 
strange story told to me by a friend called Joyce Collin-Smith, the 
sister-in-law of one of Ouspenky’s most brilliant disciples, Rodney Collin. In 
August 1960, she became a follower of the Hindu guru, the Maharishi Mahesh 
Yogi, who was convinced that the world could be transformed by ‘transcendental 
meditation’. S he described how she had gone to the house the Maharishi had 
rented near Regents Park, taking a flower as an offering. The Maharishi, a 
little man with a high voice and a sing-song Indian accent, taught her a brief 
mantra in Sanskrit, which immediately brought a strange, deep sense of peace.

 I've reconsidered the birth date of Jesus.  Here is my conclusion which I've 
posted in another forum:
 

 Nobody really knows the exact birth date of Jesus.  IMO, the early Christian 
Church fathers used western astrology to reconstruct the date of December 25.  
Specifically, December 21 is the winter solstice and is considered to be the 
death of the Sun.  Then they added three days after this date to represent the 
birth or the rising of a new Sun.
 
 

 However, IMO, Jesus was actually born on March 21, 2 BC, at about 19:00 hours 
in Bethlehem, Israel.  On that day, there were several good yogas that would 
indicate the birth of a king.  For example,
 

 1. The Sun was was exalted in Mesha or Aries and was in conjunction with 
Mercury.
 

 2. Jupiter was exalted in Karka or Cancer and in conjunction with Chandra.
 

 3.  The time would have been about 7:00 PM since that would be the time when 
the Chandra would be in exact conjunction with Jupiter.  The bright star 
mentioned in the bible would have been Jupiter.  And, at this specific time, 
the conjunction would have occurred at mid-heaven or the 10th house from the 
rashi of Tula or Libra, and Chandra was in the nakshatra of Pushyami.
 

 The three wise men who were looking for this birth were actually astrologers 
from various parts of the ancient world.  It is believed that one of them came 
from as far as India.  When they found Jesus they paid homage to him and gave 
their gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh.  
 

 And the rest is history.

with different technique. Most biologists say that 70% of raptors die their 
first year form disease, accidents, starvation or other predators.  About 40% 
die their second year.She had worms when I caught her and they've been 
eliminated. Maybe I've increased her chances of survival. Letting them go for 
return migration is a tradition among many falconers, especially with the 
Tundra Peregrines. They are a pain in the arss to moult. They need a lot of 
extra sun light to stimulate the hormones for that and they only get it in the 
Arctic during the summer.< Don't have a digital camera right now but when I get 
one or somebody gets a good pic of mine I'll post them. < Can't stand this new 
Yahoo format. Can't tell who's posting what and who's responding. I'll get it 
figure out sooner later.

 Or rat poison in urban areas. Big problem in NYC for all the redtails.

houses daughter's spouse's daughter is married to George Michael. If you

figure.

read what others have to say about their dealings with animals, especially if 
they are wild animals which, let's face it, eagles, falcons and hawks certainly 
are. I would imagine one would also have to be very brave to handle them 
because they will never, ever truly be tame. I would think you would have to 
earn a certain degree of respect from them as well as trust in order to handle 
them day to day. You also would have to have watched and learned over a long 
period of time how to read them and understand what they are all about. It is 
not a realm I have ever dealt with in terms of pure predatory power which they 
possess. I, personally, would never call them "critters", it makes them sound

You've got to realize, Ann, that this posting takes practice, just like 
if you wanted to get good at playing Angry Birds. It takes years to 
learn these skills. You can't keep up with this without dedication. That 
means ideally, you need to be alone most of the time with no husband or 
children or pets to look after. If you have to work at a job you'd want 
to be getting one where you're on a computer most of the time or at 
least have a laptop and Wi-Fi available all the time.

copy-paste coming over from OpenOffice Writer word processor.


In the last few days something changed where word-processed writing 
gets mixed up upon pasting something that looks perfectly fine from 
OpenOfficeWriter in to the yahoo box for writing posts as reply.  And 
new topic posts too now. What a mess.


The reply box seems to open directly now in rich-text format but it 
seems to switch pastings over in to plain text as its neo-yahoo way of 
handling word processing from somewhere else.  Word processing 
elsewhere has always worked fine before until just recently.  Is Yahoo 
trying to reinvent the wheel or something with some brilliant 
rewriting of software?


I wish Yahoo would stop doing that.  And soon.  I got some really 
important things written already that I need to post.


This post is written straight in to the box, not word processed 
otherwise and not pushing the double-arrow button to switch to plain text.

Don't ever copy and paste from a word processor into the Neo text box - 
if you do, your stuff will look like Judy's - all bold and messed up 
with a serif type face. You should always use a sans-serif type face, 
like Arial, when posting to the internet. And, reserve the use of bold 
for the really important stuff.


Forget the Windows Notepad - it SUCKS compared to the free EditPad. If 
you really want to get serious about posting, get the Mozilla 
Thunderbird - it's free. Get away from NEO and Yahoo Mail. No serious 
professional uses Yahoo Mail anymore - Yahoo SUCKS!

You've got to realize, Ann, that this posting takes practice, just
like if you wanted to get good at playing Angry Birds. It takes

 Buck, EditPad will also do the job, but if you have Windows, Notepad will do 
you fine for plain-text posts. Pasting text from the word processor into 
Notepad strips out any formatting it may have acquired in the word processor, 
and when you then paste it into Neo, it'll come out in sans-serif type (that's 
what all my posts are in). If you want anything in bold or italic, that's easy 
to do with the Rich Text editor in Neo. I make all my stuff bold because Neo's 
lightface sans-serif type is so light it can be hard to read.
 

 Mostly I type my posts directly into the text box, but for a very long post 
with interpolated responses, I'll use Notepad. I've never used a word processor 
to post anything in Neo.
 

 

 


 Don't do it Buck! 
 
 Don't ever copy and paste from a word processor into the Neo text box - if you 
do, your stuff will look like Judy's - all bold and messed up with a serif type 
face. You should always use a sans-serif type face, like Arial, when posting to 
the internet. And, reserve the use of bold for the really important stuff.
 
 Forget the Windows Notepad - it SUCKS compared to the free EditPad. If you 
really want to get serious about posting, get the Mozilla Thunderbird - it's 
free. Get away from NEO and Yahoo Mail. No serious professional uses Yahoo Mail 
anymore - Yahoo SUCKS!

processing from somewhere else.  Word processing elsewhere has always worked 
fine before until just recently.  Is Yahoo trying to reinvent the wheel or 
something with some brilliant rewriting of software?
 
 
 I wish Yahoo would stop doing that.  And soon.  I got some really important 
things written already that I need to post.
 
 
 This post is written straight in to the box, not word processed otherwise and

Thanks, Share - it looks like we are down to about a dozen regular 
respondents these days. It only takes a few minutes to read the posts on 
FFL - most of the time there's something to read, but for information 
junkies, it's just a very small pittance. Some people just feel better 
when they have someone to talk to.

Buck, EditPad will also do the job, but if you have Windows, Notepad 
will do you fine for plain-text posts. Pasting text from the word 
processor into Notepad strips out any formatting it may have acquired 
in the word processor, and when you then paste it into Neo, it'll come 
out in sans-serif type (that's what all my posts are in). If you want 
anything in bold or italic, that's easy to do with the Rich Text 
editor in Neo. I make all my stuff bold because Neo's lightface 
sans-serif type is so light it can be hard to read.



Mostly I type my posts directly into the text box, but for a very long 
post with interpolated responses, I'll use Notepad. I've never used a 
word processor to post anything in Neo.







*Don't do it Buck! *

Don't ever copy and paste from a word processor into the Neo text box 
- if you do, your stuff will look like Judy's - all bold and messed up 
with a serif type face. You should always use a sans-serif type face, 
like Arial, when posting to the internet. And, reserve the use of bold 
for the really important stuff.


Forget the Windows Notepad - it SUCKS compared to the free EditPad. If 
you really want to get serious about posting, get the Mozilla 
Thunderbird - it's free. Get away from NEO and Yahoo Mail. No serious 
professional uses Yahoo Mail anymore - Yahoo SUCKS!

yea, what is the deal just lately with pasting in to neo yahoo?  Top 
down replying was working fine taking lightly formatted text 
copy-paste coming over from OpenOffice Writer word processor.


In the last few days something changed where word-processed writing 
gets mixed up upon pasting something that looks perfectly fine from 
OpenOfficeWriter in to the yahoo box for writing posts as reply.  And 
new topic posts too now. What a mess.


The reply box seems to open directly now in rich-text format but it 
seems to switch pastings over in to plain text as its neo-yahoo way 
of handling word processing from somewhere else.  Word processing 
elsewhere has always worked fine before until just recently.  Is 
Yahoo trying to reinvent the wheel or something with some brilliant 
rewriting of software?


I wish Yahoo would stop doing that.  And soon.  I got some really 
important things written already that I need to post.


This post is written straight in to the box, not word processed 
otherwise and not pushing the double-arrow button to switch to plain 
text.
