Oh Anna,

I am so sorry. My heart breaks just reading your story. You loved her,
cared for her, and gave her everything you had. What more could any of us
ask for.

It is really hard to be only human sometimes and so limited in our
abilities to change the many injustices that seem to surround us.

You are a truely kind and loving person and I am certain Sylvia knew and
sensed that.

I am sure someday your souls will meet again.

Re: [Felvtalk] please add Sylvia to the CLS

2012-05-22 Thread Diane Rosenfeldt
Anna, I am so sorry you lost your beautiful Sylvia. She sounds like she was
very special, and special to you.

You absolutely did the right thing in helping her along. As much as you want
them to stay, watching them suffer is horrible for both of you. When my dear
Luc reached the end (he was not FeLV+, but had thyroid and kidney issues) he
was not eating and I was trying to bring him back by "assist feeding" him -
euphemism aside, at this point it was force-feeding. He started making a
horrible grinding sound with his teeth, and I stopped feeding because I
didn't want him to hurt himself. I took him to the vet, and she said she had
heard cats do that when they were in pain, and after that I couldn't let him
go fast enough. It was one thing for him to be annoyed at me trying to feed
him, but actual pain was a totally different matter. (The vet also said she
felt a mass, which just sealed the deal.) A big chunk of my memories were in
that little guy (almost 17 years worth) so I really felt like part of me had
gone away.

I know you will feel sad for a long time, but it will ease and you'll be
able to remember Sylvia with smiles instead of tears, -- sometimes, at
least. I don't want to go all mystical on you, but one thing you may want to
do is just talk to Sylvia, and tell her she is welcome to come and visit you
any time. I have known some people, myself included, who have felt the
presence of a departed kitty. For me, it was the feeling of a cat walking on
my bed when there was no living cat there. And, maybe after a while, you can
adopt another kitty in Sylvia's honor.

Diane R.

Monday we lost two wonderful fur friends Brando, well he was one of my
"boyfriends" at Sids..We had MANY make out sessions which was me holding him
while he slobbered all overr my hair face neck :) He was a lover thats for
sure,he will ALWAYS have a special place in my heart...I had a special
connection with him and knew when he was in need of his medication for his
awful stomatitis that MANY of our Sids kids get. I will forever miss this
awesome guy!

Luna, but as I lovingly called her Tuna Pishes :)  Well this wonderful girl was
lucky enough to have gotten herself a home around Christmas time almost 2 years
ago with a wonderful family. I had considered adopting her but I believe she
was in her meant to be home, she too will ALWAYS have a special place in my
heart.

I'm so sorry for your loss. Most of my FeLv cats lived approx. 2 years. Most
died of lymphoma. I also had two FIV+-FeLv+ cats. They also passed on from
lymphoma. I now have one husky, healthy black boy who is positive for FIV and
FeLv. I'm hoping that now that he has lived with me for a few months, he may
have thrown off the FeLv and will only be FIV+. I have a group of 6 FIV+ cats
waiting to hear if they are going to get another brother. In the past, a cat I
named Moses turned negative for FeLv after he lived with me in isolation
(separate room from the other cats) for 4 months. He's still alive and
prospering after 4 years and negative for everything. I know you are grieving
for your lost fur kids but you did your best. You gave them a chance in a world
that doesn't usually give imperfect cats any chance at all. Could you please
answer two questions for me? I know I'm going to sound like a complete idiot
but what is SIDS in reference to cats and what does CLS stand for? Thanks.

How sad! I am so sorry - it's bad enough to lose one at a time, but two..

Last month, I lost two cats, one day apart (one was expected, one was not).

Natalie

May I ask what Brando was getting for his stomatitis? One of our FIV+ cats
has stomatitis and gets injections of prednisone every three months,
sometimes sooner - depending on how he's doing.

Me too Sherry. I know I have said this before but I just am always so
touched by how in just a few sentences you capture so much of the
personality (and everyone's love and appreciation of) a certain kitty's
essence, that it actually creates an image. And the names are just always
so unique and fitting...full of the love and dedication you all obviously
pour into knowing and caring for each kitty.

I am so sorry, and also so glad they have you. Peace to S'Matter & to you
all.

Well it was another heartbreaking day for us today at Sids...Lucky Louie was a
sweet little orange guy that had a rough start before coming to us.His story
was a hawk has dropped him in his rescuers yard. Somehow he ended up with us
and we had a short time to have had the chance to love this great little guy.
Britta today when I was having my valentine visit with the Sids kids had a
seizure right in front of me,it was the strangest thing I ever saw...but she
came out of it,crawled into my lap and proceeded to purr and kneed my
lapwas such a sweet moment for us. Well I just received an e-mail from Dr.
Jen that little Britta collapsed and could not be helped...I will cherish that
sweet moment I got to share with her today after she had scared me so.

I am new to this group, but I did want to send you my condolences. Rest in
peace precious Myles.

I am Tina. I live in Pa. We had gotten a litter of four female kittens from a
family whos add we responded to in the newspaper six months ago. Their kittens
needed a home and my mom who is very ill and lives with us needed company. So,
knowing that we didn't have the heart to seperate those kittems. We took them
all. We homeschool our four kiddos so these fur babies quickly became all of
our babies and God bonded our hearts to theirs.

We had no idea that they were suffering from feline leukemia when we got them
because they looked so healthy.

Needless to say... six months later...

We laid Ollie to rest four days before Christmas and we just laid Leo to rest
two days after New Years. Ollie and Leo were golden in color and we called them
"the golden girls" they were always together and their siblings (who are still
with us) are also always together. After Ollies death Leo just was not the
same. She became very depressed and just couldn't seem to get over the fact
that her sister was gone.

We laid Ollie to rest and we put in certain items that she loved and parts of
things from us.

It is very cold here that when Leo passed just days later my husband offered
to dig up Ollie lay Leo and her things that we had for her in the box with
Ollie... so that "the golden girls" would always be together.

  That is what we did...

We are Christians... we know that in the big picture it really wouldn't have
mattered if their bodies were laid to rest in the same box or not, but to us it
meant the world to know that "the golden girls" were together forever even in
death.

We had a beautiful service for them in our back yard. First, Ollie then days
later Leo with Ollie.

We have your site to thank for the information on feline leukemia and the
foods and vitamins that help to sustain life. We will forever be thankful for
what these precious kittens have taught us about this horrible sickness. What a
true blessing they have been. They taught us strength, love, and commitment.
They taught us that love is an "action" word. Our hearts will forever be bonded
with these babies.

Whoopie and Jewels our other two calico fur babies (from that sibling group)
are still going strong. We remain ever thankful for their continued health.

I just had to stop in and say... I am sorry to hear of your loss... and thank
you for the information you share... it truly does touch lives...

Farewell Myles, enjoy your new life free of pain.
I am so very hppy that I have not had to bid any of my babies farewell. They
do more for me than I do for them. Even tho I d swear I am goin to kill Harley
at least 20 times a day. Right now I am typing this while peering around his
tail as it flips over the keyboard.

My Shorty started life out feral and very wild. After 8 months of patience and
a couple of really bit bits to my shins, he became my sleep time buddy. A real
lover. So sorry your baby passed, but so happy he had someone who was willing
to give him a chance to learn he could trust humans, love and belovedin return.
