below look like a way around, but which of NE2000 drivers listed is

I'm trying to replace SRDISK with SHSURDRV (v1.11, 2005-12-21) to make a
ram drive E. Fdconfig and Fdauto load ok but when using Arachne
browser, after exiting (to dos shell or permanently), I get the following
error:

In my Fdauto.bat I've always had SET command everywhere. Someone has just
pointed out that I could probably skip SET in most (all?) of the lines.
I have even come across a notion that in ms-dos set was used to set
other environment variables/parameters but not the path.

I created two versions of Fdconfig.sys and I keep switching between the
two just to try them out. Version #1 is using LBACAHE and version #2 is
using QCACHE. Below is the summary of the most important commands and
full copies of startup files are at the bottom of the post. If I missed

The easiest solution is to enter isp dns server addresses manually in Arachne.

this resolved all Arachne connectivity problems. The router is Linksys BEFSX41,

Arachne connection problems were apparently related to fragmentation of drive
C. I was
trying to resolve the issue of FreeDos Defrag v1.21 returning error when set to

Yesterday Arachne was working fine. After that the only thing I did was defragging (Defrag
v1.21) drive C and shutting off the computer. Arachne is on drive D which is visible in
WinXP ad was defragged from there. After starting FreeDos a few hours later I'm back to
square one: tcp/ip looks

EA irq are numbered 0 to 15, so what do you mean by irq 17?
The last IRQ on my system has number 22:

EA is this a real modem or more a soundcard (winmodem)?
It seems to be a real hardware modem:
