If you have an iPod with a firewire try downloading it to the iPod and if it works you can delete it and boot it back up from the iPod if you every need it again!!! I do this with Micro Office, Appleworks and Photoshop just in case if I ever have to do a clean and reinstall!!!-Original

I'd suggest skipping the G4's and go for an early G5 model. Pretty much everything from a single 1.6 up to a dual processor 2.0 can be had for reasonable prices now. I'd avoid any G5 that has liquid cooling. It probably won't be very much longer before even the dual core PCIe models become

Hello fellows of the G-Group! I was just thinking about the future. I've just made an old G3 BW working again (it was wasting space and picking up dust for about two years or more) and it is now in my office. I've installed Tiger and it is just okay working with it, in other words: it is slow.

Yes, Apple is dropping support for PPC machines and Tiger in general. These machines are still useful - I currently am using a PB G4 15 1.25GHZ I paid $145 for on ebay and am running Leopard quite well. I am also using a MDD G4 running Tiger Server Unlimited. My mother still uses a G3/500MHZ iMac

You should be able to download Yellow Dog fairly easily, which is based on Red Hat. Unfortunately, Yellow Dog dropped mac development a few years ago to focus on Cell processors. I played with their latest on an old iMac, and it seemed decent then. Otherwise, OS X.3 would work well. On Thu,
