My personal strategy is to center my ships around my starbases, a pair of ships to each base, and then just take out the enemies when they show. I can usually survive with both bases, and most of my ships. This strategy can take a good bit of
patience and some luck, but it works most of the time.

can really take the war to the enemy. I personally just don't like the risk
