[Audyssey] CHOICE!!

2009-04-18 Thread Anthony Vitale
When religion is used to take away a persons right to choose it is
questionable. God gives us the ability to choose some choose to be
sinful and others choose to bee good but the choice is
theirs. Playing a game as long as it is recognized for what it is
really not evil in itself. I believe any one who chooses to take away
God's gift to us of free choice , they themselves are on questionable grounds.

have managed to pack dozens of tyny gyroscopes on a thin wafer to
track all rotation. Couple this with the Wii's accelerometers and
you have yourself a true one to one virtual device, something that

the blind community.
I have managed to get wii input into the PC on my end for the
fighting game. Next step is to program it to recognize
combos. Also, I have found a cheap blue tooth device at best buy
that works well for coupling the wii to your pc, this was my
biggest worry going into this, was finding a cheap enough blue

anyhow, I'll update as more details come up.

yes, World of legends is indeed a text game. assuming I did not make

For most games, it will say either "features sound" or "features sound, text"
many other games which people have recommended to you are indeed
full audio games which do not use text, such as those from
http://www.gmagames.com/ and http://www.pcsgames.net/

The only bad news of course, is that on a dile up connection, the
more audio a game features, the longer it will take you to download.

Greetings Anthony.

The World of Legends uses a traditional DOS-style interface,
reminiscent of older computer systems that accepted commands via a
command line, not through the mouse.

This means that, when presented with a menu system or a place to
make any kind of response, you do not click on the item you want on
screen, but rather type in its corresponding value.

In your case, for example, you would type in the digit zero, then
hit enter to exit the game, press 1 and then enter if you want a new game, etc.

Hi Tony,
I'm not Dark but I can give you some ideas of games to try out. I have
no idea if these are of any interest to you, but installing these games
should be easy since they should install and run without requiring any
upgrades.
Perhaps my favorite games are developed by GMA Games. Some games are
free, some are commercial, but I've never had any problems with their
titles. They make free games such as Solitare, Mine Buster, and some
commercial action games such as Shades of Doom, Tank Commander, and
Lonewolf. There web site is
http://www.gmagames.com
Another game company I like is BSC Games. They make games such as Pipe,
Troopenum, and Hunter. Their web site is

Finally, there are some games that were produced by DanZ Games. Dan Z is
out of business, but you can get the files as well as the game patches
from my web site
http://www.usagamesinteractive.com/games.php
and I think you might like these games. Chainlink and Super Deecout can
get quite adictive.

Well a very good day to you to Mr. Shadow Dragon,
Your note demonstrates a lot of arrogance for someone who uses an
alias instead of their own name to represent themselves. I
suppose when you by an item that needs assembly you hope the
instructions/directions are in some foreign language you have to
guess at, or maybe have no directions at all so that you can
guess how to assemble the item.(snicker) If I wanted to play

I meant to stay out of this from here on in, but I just wanted to

and usually links to what you need, aka direct x, frameworks, etc,
right on the download page, or if not on the download page on the
games listing in their product catalog or something similar. From
there, installing is pretty simple what with the windows installer
and such that we have now, and winzip. Does take a little looking
around before you download, and generally once you've got the
requirements for one game, you've got the requirements for a bunch
more, especially if you pick a popular one. Anyway, I'm saying
nothing more on this subject.

I find this very strange in a way, but installation instructions
are generally found in the user's manual that comes with the games
you download. The reason I find this strange is this: In order to
read the user's manual, you have to install the game. Now, if you
have already installed it, do you need to know how? The manual is
found in the folder into which the game was installed. I think
that, in the case of a CD from which you install the game, the
user's manual should be a separate file that you can read before
installation. If you download a game from a site, the user's
manual should be available on that site to get you started correctly. JMO

Hi tony.

Not all games need the net framework, and many require
different versions of direct X (though if you get the latest one
you'll be fine).

Any given game should tell you what you need on your pc to try it.

Many games can for example be run without the net framework,
I know this sinse for a while I couldn't get earlier versions of
net framework to run on my pc so was restricted in my selection of games.

I suggest you give some of them a try, particularly those by Bsc,
Gma, lworks, Blind adrenaline and Draconis.

Jim's games range from self-voicing versions of classic games like
monopoly, to sports games, quizzes arcade action and racing games.

they also have the advantage of being A, free, and B, quite small in
size, so won't take too long for you to download on your dile up connection.

while your waiting, you could also try some brouser based games or
gamebooks on the internet, which may be played directly in internet
explorer, firefox or whatever web brouser your using, just using
your screen reader.

I'd particularly recommend sryth, www.sryth.commm, the fighting
fantasy project, http://www.ffproject.com/ and age of fable
http://www.apolitical.info/webgame/index.php?mode=0

You can also find many online games which require no downloads by

gamebooks, and games listed as on the online platform.

know this sinse for a while I couldn't get earlier versions of net
framework to run on my pc so was restricted in my selection of games.

I suggest you give some of them a try, particularly those by Bsc,
Gma, lworks, Blind adrenaline and Draconis.

thanks to some of you I am finally getting it. it would have been
fairly simple if in the begining someone had written and said "you

dialup connection so I am on my third night of downloading the
microsoft framwork because it is so huge and I don't want to tie up
my phone for 35 hours in a row. As far as direct x I'll get that in
one night but the confusion could have all been avoided had
someone given me simple specific information and dirrections for

issues as well. I don't want to sound critical, but I get the
impression you are not a very skilled or experienced computer user.
As a result your lack of experience, skill, whatever is contributing
to the confusion or making the issue more difficult than it is for
most of us on the list.
What I am saying is in general most of the games out there are no
more difficult to install than any other Windows program weather we
are talking MSOffice, Firefox, whatever. So the fact you seam to be
having issues in this area indicates to me that maybe you don't have
a lot of experience installing programs in general. If I am way off
base here let me know, but if you are having troubles with general
installation perhaps one of us can walk you through the process.

to download games. Just go to the combo box at the bottom of the

You need to use the combo box on the audio games page to get to the games.
You hit enter on a combo box and arrow down to the title that
interest you then tab to go and you will be on the page that
describes the game and has a link to it.

Hi again Steve,
If I might ask I downloaded a game that had an .exeand can't do
anything with it. If You wouldn''t mind could sent me to one site
and to one game on that site that I can just download and play. From
there I can decide if I want to mess with the audio games or go back
to my boring old text. if games.

 Hi Tony,
I'm not sure what is causing your hostile attitude on list here,
especially as most of these folks are trying to help you out.
Kelvin was just airing his opinions about folks asking questions
that are answered in the manuals, bloating traffic on the list. I
don't see anything superior about asking folks to use common sense
to avoid wasting the time of others.
I agree with Kelvin completely here. Too often people are just
being lazy and not reading the manuals, then they run into
something they can't figure out and instead of reading, they ask
here, so they can get a quick answer. Then after that, they run
into another problem they must ask about on list that was covered
in the manual and so on and so on.
As a developer myself, I get sick of it, it is a huge waste of
time, and almost all of us game developers are one man bands with
limited time and we can do without these unesesary distractions. I
promise if you were a small one man developer you would feel the same way.
Would you disagree here? Do you think folks shouldn't take it upon
themselves to read the manuals and just rely on the rest of us to
spoon feed them the information? Surely not sir. And I certainly
wouldn't say you have an elitist attitude for thinking they should
take some personal responsibility, nor would anyone else here that I know of.
We're a friendly bunch of folks here. I know you are new to the
list and all , but generally, we keep the flaming of others off list.
So relax and enjoy our little list here, I think you'll find

can definitely be found in the manual. and game bugs are also
being posted to this list, which i find it's not the right thing

of the respective game companies. everytime there is any new game
release or update patch or something, the traffic of this list
will sky rocket with emails asking what i call lazy questions, and
also making bug reports. i think the moderator should try and keep

This is a web site devoted to letting new audio gamers know what
accessible games are out there for blind and low vision computer

http://www.pcsgames.net
has a page devoted to all sorts of audio games that are out there.
Finally, there are the individual game companies themselves who have

available. Here is a list of probably the most popular game
companies out here currently. Though, there are certainly more.

Thanks again Ron,
It seems as if you really do understand my confusion. I want to thank

a free starter game not like the kitchen games I have got the hang
of those. Maybe something similar to the things that happen like
scavanging in the text games.

Indeed some of the games are commercial meaning you do need to by a

There are also Some very good fre games available as well.

In some cases such as Rail Racer, or Mota you do need spacific software
installed to run the games correctly.

All the games I can think of with only one exception can be downloaded

As for on the Audio games site, I use the option going by game title then
going to select or go whichever they call it. Then a page should be there

indeed be a download link.
Another good resource you might want to try is

As for posting to the Audyssey list all first

get an e-mail message back from mailman stating

I could ask do the games cost, do they run by them selves or do you
need to download some special something, do you have to sign up to a
special something to be able to download. oh by the way I went there
but for some reason it wouldn't allow me to download anything. Guess

Hi Anthony

Tads and Zcode games ar indeed quite a different issue. Sometimes the
game may have a hint system to help with spacific puzzles in the game.
However this isn't always true I've played some games and there are no hints
at all.
Sometimes I know the walk throughs do help but it also gives away the
entire game. I've seen help files for various titles as well.
If there is a particular game or such that you'd like to ask about chances
are someone here has played it and can offer some help.

Well I appreciate the advice but seeing that I am 66 years old I
havent been called son since my 98 year old neighbor called me that.
Seeing that you seem to know so much then school me without the son
comment. Where do you get these audio games etc?

2009-03-19 Thread Anthony Vitale
it must feel really great experiencing that superior atatude. Well
then can one tell this new-bewhat is discussed on this exclusive list?

yes. many people are always too excited about playing the game and
so ends up diving straight in to the game before reading and fully
understanding and remember the important details in the manual.
every so often, here in this list, the answers to the questions that
were being asked were all found in the manual. but everyone just
want to have the short cut. that's why everytime, when a new game
release comes out, we get people asking how do i do this, how do i
do that? and i'm sure answers to these questions can definitely be
found in the manual. and game bugs are also being posted to this
list, which i find it's not the right thing to do. any bugs should
be posted to the mailing lists, beta/alpha of the respective game
companies. everytime there is any new game release or update patch
or something, the traffic of this list will sky rocket with emails
asking what i call lazy questions, and also making bug reports. i
think the moderator should try and keep the list traffic under
control. this is a game related list, but not a game manual library
or any particular game companies' alpha or beta list.

[Audyssey] PROBLEMS

2009-03-19 Thread Anthony Vitale
since trying to join your list I have had
several problems. I had difficulty signing
up on the list problems with the edit and check
boxes. I must have finally got it

because I received a confirmation notice.
But I tried to log on and it wont let me.
my second problem is I sent in a question but
just received a notices with a bunch
of links on it. When you write in a question how
do you get an answer to the question.
Finally this has been a very frustrating
experience, when I wrote this letter to the mail
man I got some kind of a rejection notice that
told me to write again to MAILMAN –OWNER AND ALSO
GOT A NON RECEIVABLE NOTICE AT THAT address
ALSO. If you make it this difficult for blind
people to join ,well I just don’t understand!!

Sincerely yours
A Vitale

Just to let you know the other keys don't appear until later in the
level. So you do need to figure out where that gold key goes. That
