size I set is for 3390-9, but because we have a large number of 3390-27
and 3390-54 is probably why the storage team defines the VVDS at the
time they provision the volume for use. I have no EAV experience yet.

sharing of file systems doesn't seem relevant. BTW, I've worked in lots
of sysplex environments that don't share unix file systems. It's not a

So the system does not come up far enough without SMS for you to
logon to TSO/ISPF and get into ISMF?
If you are doing this from a driving system, the way that sort of issue
is dealt with is via SSA. For VSAM, you do that via define path.

don't think there is any way
to do that with LMAC, although I admit to not trying to write a line macro that
would do so. I did try it with the built in support in z/OS 1.13 with both
DT and DB and the response from the system was this:

Did you check to see if they were orphaned? I manage all my
HC logstreams with RETPD and AUTODELETE across many sysplexes
and have never seen a problem.
