Re: [JAWS-Users] 2013/365.
They are both the same. Office 365 is Office 2013 bundled with special pricing and sold as a subscription service. The cost is less. I pay $10.39 per month for the Home version which includes Word, Excel, Power Point, One Drive, Outlook, Publisher, and Access. With this you also get 1 TB of One Drive and 60 minutes of Skype per month to use. With this subscription, you can install the suite on up to 5 computers or tablets, and you always keep the latest updates and upgrades for the Office Suite, so when the next version comes out, you will automatically update to that. When I had Office 2013 Home and Student installed on my computer, it seemed as if something about Office never work right, but with the 365, it has run flawlessly. There is also the Personal version available for $6.95 per month plus taxes, and with this version I believe you get Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook only. I installed the desktop application and so far it looks quite simple to manage. It looks like you just paste something in there either a file or an entire folder / directory of files and they automatically upload to the cloud. Granted the directory only had 2 files in it but I figure that is enough for a first test. So far no issues with accessibility at all I am pleased to report. Re: [JAWS-Users] adobe flash player
Adobe has made the update process far more efficient than in the past, requiring just a couple of screens. The optional Google offers are on the initial screen. Passing on to the install process is a one click process. But the download/install process did not give feedback. Fortunately, the handy little read screen hot key insert/B told me that the install was complete. I hit enter to finish and that was that. Much better than past iterations. As you can imagine, if a great many changes have been made to a document, all of the deletions and revisions will be noted, which can make things quite confusing when you simply want to read the final document. This is why I posted my quiry last night. Fortunately, due to the help of a number of list members, I got a number of suggestions for turning off the track changes, and was able to read the document I needed for work today. You probably have a program group for Office 2013 branching off your start menu (sorry I have no direct experience with Win 8). You can either create an Office shortcut for your desktop, or a Word shortcut for your desktop. It may not sound like much, but it'll save you time and keystrokes in the long run. No it is not, but I imagine I could put it there easy enough. You get 15 GB free by default but like drop box if you can invite people you can increase that up to 20 GB. I won't send invitations to the list as that would abuse the format but if anybody wants they can write me directly. Since the inviter and the invitee both benefit. Do a search for, cloneapp, to get better results. The earlier link was sent to me by the technician that reinstalled Windows7 for me, but I didn't run into the stuff that others might of when I went to the Lifehacker site. Below is an explanation of cloneapp. 6/13/15 11:00am cloneapp-backs-up-all-your-windows-program-settings-1710987383 CloneApp Backs Up All Your Windows Program Settings Windows: Whether you're migrating to a new computer or doing a clean install, life is easier when you take all your settings and tweaks with you. If you don't want to do a full backup and restore, CloneApp backs up settings for the most popular Windows programs so you can restore them later. CloneApp essentially automates the process we detailed in our Windows migration guide: it knows where each program stores its settings and registry keys, and backs them all up in one fell swoop so you don't have to do the legwork yourself. It supports 119 different Windows programs, can detect which programs you have installed, and even has a section for manual backups so you can include the programs it doesn't support. CloneApp is completely portable, too, so you don't have to install anything. Just extract the program to its own folder on the desktop and right-click it to launch it as an administrator. From there, check the programs you want to back up, and click Start CloneApp. It'll back up all the necessary files and registry keys to its folder, which you can then copy to your new computer, launch the program, and click Restore to put all your settings back where they belong. Take care. Hi Dacia, For this one, you will also have to open the File tab and arrow down to Options. Then, under categories, arrow down to the Trust Center. Now, once inside of this, arrow down until you find Trust Center Settings, and open this. Once in Trust Center Settings, arrow down to Protected View, tab one time to enter the Protected View settings, and uncheck any of these settings that you do not want affecting the files that you download by having them open in protected view. When at the end of the list, simply tab once and press enter on the OK button. Lastly, do this one more time to exit the menu. Now documents that you download from the internet, an email attachment or whatever, will not open in protected view. If you do have one to do this, focus on the file, right click and select properties. At the end of the Home tab, there will be an item called Unblock. Click on this, then on Apply, then on OK, and the file will not open in protected view. Re: [JAWS-Users] 2013/365.
OK, here we go. To start with, if you happen to be running Windows 7, just open the Start menu and select All Programs, and arrow down to Microsoft Office. Open this and scroll through the programs within Office finding the ones that you want on your desktop. For each one that you do, right click on that program and then select the Send To option and then select Desktop (create shortcut). If you are running Windows 8 or 8.1, then it is a little more complicated, but not too bad. Start by opening File Explorer, and then your C: crive. Now open Program files, and scroll down to Microsoft Office 15. Open Office 15 and scroll down to find the Root folder, and from here find the folder nmed Office 15. OK, this is the folder that contains all of the esecutable files for your Office programs. Unfortunately, they are not all called by the name that you and I know the programs by, but that’s OK. Start by pressing the letter E until you come to Excel, you can press EX to find it quicker, and once you do, right click on it and select either Create Shortcut, or Send To, and then Desktop (Create Shortcut). Now, you just repeat this for the remainder of the applications that you want on your desktop. The file names that you will be looking for are as follows: Word - Winword Excel - EXCEL Outlook - Outlook One Note - Onenote Power Point - POWERPNT Access - MSACCESS Publisher - MSPUB OK, that’s it. Hope it helps. Mike mike@comcast.net -Original Message- From: Dacia Cole Sent: Thursday, June 18, 2015 9:58 AM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] 2013/365. Re: [JAWS-Users] cloning a hard rive
Hi David Mike, Cloneapp is a tool that backs up your program Windows settings, not a harddrive cloning program. Take care. I have Office 2010, tried the suggested command, Alt F, I, E. So I got a choice to import my e-mail to Outlook among others. Here's my question. If I did that, would I have all the e-mails in my boxes that I currently have and also would I still have my exact same address book including groups? If I could be sure of that, I'd make the change so that I would already have one adjustment behind me before getting my new system toward the end of the year. Or, to save a new document and assign it a name, press enter on the Save As option, and it will say saving features, go down to computer, and you will get an edit field to type in the name that you want to give to the document. Then, simply tab down to the Save button and press enter. If you do not want to save the document to the default folder, usually the Documents folder, then in the edit field, type in the path to where you want the document saved, such as: c:\archives\document name. I am using windows 8.1 and JAWS 16. How do I set it so it will open a document without having me hit enter on the backstage view when I just want a new document opened? Also, it says is the word app is there a more blind friendly version? Also, having trouble saving as, it brings up a save features dialogue box and am not sure what to do. thanks, Dacia For answers to frequently asked questions about this list visit: http://www.jaws-users.com/help/ For answers to frequently asked questions about this list visit: http://www.jaws-users.com/help/ For answers to frequently asked questions about this list visit: http://www.jaws-users.com/help/ For answers to frequently asked questions about this list visit: http://www.jaws-users.com/help/ For answers to frequently asked questions about this list visit: http://www.jaws-users.com/help/ For answers to frequently asked questions about this list visit: http://www.jaws-users.com/help/ For answers to frequently asked questions about this list visit: http://www.jaws-users.com/help/
[JAWS-Users] Jaws Cursor and Thunderbird
Hello, On latest versions of both Tb and Firefox (38.1), Jaws Cursor does not read anything. I Have Jaws 13. It is not a big deal, but it would be better to have it working properly. Thanks. Re: [JAWS-Users] I want to clone my hard drive
Image for windows is my program of choice. However if you have the option of sited assistance you could get away with creating a system image with windows 7 natively. The help will come in on the reload. Keep in mind both options will assume the target drive is the same size as the source. If it is larger then you will end up with unallocated space which is possible to get back using the disk partition manager. It's not as hard as it sounds but it is quite a number of steps. If the target drive is smaller I would need to review my notes on the subject although here again I believe it is possible. I am about to put a new solid state drive into my Lenovo notebook, and I want to clone the current hard drive onto the new drive to save all of the installation time and headaches. Any and all help is appreciated. Thanks a bazillion. Re: [JAWS-Users] one drive
Thank you for getting back to me. Patty said the same thing about it showing up in windows explorer since she saw it on another ladies computer in her office. That person is sited which is why I wanted an answer from somebody who knows from what I would need. According to what the page said last evening you now get 15 gig of free storage and I believe 100 for $1.99 a month. Just looking around so to speak, kind of expanding my options. I might even do some recordings down the road some day. More or less the same as all the other DropBox/GoogleDrive alternatives out there. The folder shows up in the Windows explorer structure and the few times I've used it online, I've been able to get done what I've needed to do. I use it more on iOS, but even then, it's fine with Voiceover. -Original Message- From: JAWS-Users-List [mailto:jaws-users-list-boun...@jaws-users.com] On Behalf Of David Ferrin Sent: Wednesday, June 17, 2015 7:08 PM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: [JAWS-Users] one drive I just signed up for the service this evening and downloaded the application although it is too late to do any installing. My question is how usable is this thing? Note there is one of those graphic things with stuff for you to type in the box before the sign up process will complete. Annoying but not impossible. There is an audio option but fortunately my wife was able to figure out the letters. I just have no desire to fiddle with such things when there are so many more things in life to worry about like is my ice cream supply stocked or not. [JAWS-Users] cloning a hard rive
This came across my desk yesterday and I have only had a brief look at the page.
