About 20 years ago when I first attempted Point Ground my tutor at the
time, Karen Blum, taught us the multi-stranded technique of gimps. She
also taught us how to carry the unwanted threads to the next element via
the gimp strands. It is a very tidy solution to excess threads.
One of our lacemakers, here in South Australia, was taught the basic
bobbin lace stitches by Miss Channer in the UK. This lady is 80+++ and
is still making lace. No, don't think she has ever made 'the mat'.

Win7 and its desire to keep changing the font size
Hi,
It seems the Glad oven bags that we use in Australia have tiny holes
perforated in them and are made of the crinkly type of cellophane-like
substance. Our lace has been stored in these for 20 years as far as I
can ascertain with no problems at all.
