I chose the 105mm over the 90mm non-leaf for a couple of reasons:
1) It was reputed to be sharper wide-open, and I shoot a lot wide-open
or near it
2) The price difference allowed me to buy a helicoid extension tube
3) It is slightly faster
So, basically, you have to weigh these things
That lens was a steal at the price you paid.
When I was working years ago, I used my 300/2.8 with a Pentax 1.4x all the
time before I was able to buy my 400 and 600, and at times after if I was
limited on the amount of gear I was able to carry to an assignment. You will
not be disappointed.
Damn I wish I knew. I use a can of falcon dustoff. The older valve head
allows you to have a light touch on just how much gas is released. This allows
a gentle stream which probably won't damage anything. It still seems to leave
some dust behind however.
