Actually the infected lens is not mine it just spend a couple of minutes on my K10D. I took Paul's advice and cleaned the mount and body cap thoroughly hopefully that should be enough. I found some information on-line reccomending a wipe down with hydrogen peroxide then alcohol . Ive done that

Save in RAW format, leave the colorspace in sRGB. It's irrelevant except for in-camera JPEGs. If you must capture in-camera JPEGs, there's not much you can do about it if you want Adobe RGB colorspace (which I recommend for JPEG capture, btw). Otherwise, use software to transfer the files
