CD-RW spin & freeze

Sometimes when I put a CD disk into my burner it sounds like something is going around and around but I don't get the dreaded media failure response. The computer just freezes and forces a restart. I have let it sit and do that for up to 15 minutes with the hope that maybe it is really doing

I thought I read somewhere where you should not leave your CD in your burner when not in use. Has anyone ever heard that? If so, what is the reason? Since I only use it for daily backup it would be much easier to just let the disk stay there. Your thoughts please. -- ---

Moe, Dantz has verified that there is a bug in the firmware of the Yamaha 6416 CD-RW drive. While we have notified Yamaha of this bug, until Yamaha releases a fix for this problem, we can no longer officially support backup to the Yamaha 6416 CD-RW drive with Retrospect or Retrospect Express
