There are quite a few special characters in linux shell.A good rule of thumb, if it is not alpha-numeric, there is a good chance it is a special character. Either change your password, or do what kidstypike has already highlighted. The reason we don't do this by default..is that we are trying to keep things as light as possible. The package cifs-utils.tcz has a boat load of dependencies. NFS has a different set of complexities, which requires careful server configuration (Which is why I steered you away from that) piCorePlayer a small player for the Raspberry Pi in RAM. Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Help with LMS on NAS and PiCorePlayer
What Synology version are you running? At this point, the easiest solution is probably to install LMS on the RPI. And then network mount to the Synology using a CIFS share. On the Synology: 1) In File Services, enable SMB. I think everything can stay default 2) In Shared Folder, find the Share that has your music on it. Edit it, and goto permissions. Make sure your user account has read/write access (Write is only needed for saving playlists) 3) You need to know the IP address of the NAS, and then the name of the share as seen in the Shared Folder listing. Then on pCP Web interface. 1) Dont install LMS yet. 2) Scroll down, and Install Additional Filesystem Support 3) Then in the Network Disk Mount, Enter fields a) mount point, some simple generic name to mount the music...i.e. Music b) IP address of your NAS c) Share name from your NAS Shared folder listing. d) Share type CIFS e) Username/Password, This is from your synology device of a user that has permission to the Shared Volume on the NAS. f) In options, put this. vers=3.0,uid=1001,gid=50 g) Increase the Max Wait time to 300 or so (This needs to be long enough for your NAS to startup from a power outage) h) Save it. Once the network is mountedthen you can go ahead and install LMS. Make sure you have expanded your file system plently large enough. a 750gb music partition could easily use 5-10gb of space while optimizing the database. piCorePlayer a small player for the Raspberry Pi in RAM. If your Squeezelite is being run as part of a piCorePlayer (pCP) installation then adding LMS to it is straight-forward from the web interface (make sure the "player/server" or "beta" tab is selected at the bottom of the page ... and then go to the LMS tab). Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Set prerred server?
I brought up the same thing a while back when I ran a 2nd LMS so that I could more easily work on plugin testing while someone else is listening to stuff. I agree that it is a bit of a pain. Squeezelite and bridges migrate to the LMS that they can find if the one that they were connected to disappears (e.g. restart on plugin update). Setting the IP address in Squeezelite is a possible way of doing things - but I have held off doing it because I have held off assigning IP addresses to things (even in router) unless it is essential. My reasoning behind this in a bit of a stretch but I like the idea that I could change the IP address of the network (e.g. pick up the equipment and move it to another building and it would, mostly, work). Of course, other things that I have put in place (e.g. a router behind the ISP router and even AirPort Express sitting in a travel bag pre-configured as an access point with same SSID/passphrase as home) mean that this is almost never going to be an issue ... Make sure you save your old and working XML file ... then try an manual export and see if it works. https://djtechtools.com/2019/10/10/update-to-catalina-heres-how-to-manually-export-your-music-app-as-xml/ If a manual export does not give you something that works then automating that simple export is not going to help much. If the export function does give something that is somewhat close to the old iTunes format then it might be possible for someone with a Mac to write a script to reprocess it to make it work ... or someone else could write some Perl and put it in LMS to import that revised format. Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Touchscreen display for piCorePlayer
The hyper pixel uses the dpi interface, so it uses a bunch of pins on the interface. I have not checked if it consumes pins needed by the Dac. A USB Dac would work fine. There are many waveshare options, but every screen is different, and uses different drivers. Its hard to keep track of them ..and then there are different rev levels on the boards that use different drivers too. The specific waveshare you linked, you need to check pinouts on the heard for the touch function .. and need to research the needed touch driver. Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Touchscreen display for piCorePlayer
There are many that work, but the drivers are completely manual, and support is poor. But if you are willing to do some tinkering, then there are provisions in pCP for custom setup routines for offbrand screens. What size screen do you want? I have a setup with https://shop.pimoroni.com/products/hyperpixel-4?variant=12569485443155. Which works nicely, but it uses most of the 40pin rpi header, so if you want a DAC Hat, then its not the right choice. But yes, skin support can be tricky if you are using touch. The resolution 800x480 is the resolution needed for the Grid Skin. If you just want display, then there are other resolutions that work fine. piCorePlayer a small player for the Raspberry Pi in RAM. Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Mac OSX - HUGE server file
It is a log file of LMS. Did you open it up to see what the date was of the first entry in it? If it was ancient then it might have simply grown over time and LMS has not been restarted for ages. If you look at the end of the file and scroll backwards ... are there a lot of repeated events over a short period? If yes ... then would need to work out the cause. I think the file is cycled on restart. If you simply deleted it rather than copying it to somewhere else with a lot of free space then you will have to wait until it happens again to investigate further. Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Portable server install? (Windows external drive)
Another RPi supporter here ... sorry ... but some ideas might help as well. I've setup a RPi Zero 2W as an LMS for travel over Christmas. I also prepared a very old Apple Airport Express and configured it as a wired access point. It has the same WiFi SSID and passphrase as the home setup so it should mean that it simply has to be connected via Ethernet to the router at the destination location and then everyone who already has their phone & laptop configured to access the home network will automatically connect in the Christmas location - both for internet and music. Also sending a battery powered AirPlay device which should also automatically connect to the familiar WiFi. The LMS will connect via WiFi but if Ethernet (I have USB to Ethernet hub) is in a convenient location (eg near a TV) then will probably switch it to wired and use HDMI out as an extra player from the LMS device. In this set-up it might be necessary to fiddle with network addresses but only needed if too much WiFi traffic for stable play. On Windows ... LMS puts files in particular places so you would have to use command line parameters to put them in places it can access (rather than ProgramData). My suggestion was not about you changing the way that you use things in general - but to see if LMS is able to access the folders via the information that is held in the library database (assuming you have scanned the files and they have useable tags). Modern iTunes is reported as no longer producing the XML file automatically. In any case - take a look inside it with a text editor and you will see the way that the path to the files is written. LMS needs to be able to read the files. The iTunes XML is simply a listing showing where to find them. So - set it again via Alsamixer and then sudo alsactl store pcp bu That still might not restore on a reboot but I think you can make pCP restore the settings that alsactl saved by using the pCP ALSA Mixer control (pCP web interface) to make a change then it will know that you have customised things and will do a "alsactl restore" on reboot. You might have to make the Alsamixer & store & bu steps one more time after that if using the pCP ALSA Mixer interface resets things. Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Sound Blaster X-Fi HD as line/phono input for LMS
I suspect that it can be done with alsactl to save the configuration once it is working. However, if it is a distinct device name then you might be able to tell wavin to use that instead of the default input. Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] MacBook as airplay device
I noticed that a MAC at home had appeared in LMS as an AirPlay speaker. Tried playing to it via LMS AirPlay Bridge and no sound comes out of the MAC. I do see a pop-up on the MAC asking for permission for an AirPlay source to send it stuff - which I accepted. My guess is that it requires it to talk AirPlay 2 which the bridge cannot do. Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Importing favorites.opml?
If you click on the Browse button in the Import function you should see that it is browsing the file system where LMS is running - that is the pCP server in your case. So you can transfer the file to somewhere that pCP can see. For example you could: - use scp (via WinSCP perhaps) to copy it to /home/tc or - enable SAMBA in pCP and then copy to it using Windows File Explorer or - copy it to the same place as your music file (assuming pCP LMS is accessing local music) Paul Webster author of \"now playing\" plugins covering radio france (fip etc), planetradio (bauer - kiss, absolute, scala, jazzfm etc), kcrw, abc australia and cbc/radio-canada and, via the extra \"radio now playing\" plugin lots more - see https://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?115201-announce-radio-now-playing-plugin ---- Paul Webster's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=105 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=115495 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter

Does Material work on the Windows LMS system itself if you try http://localhost:9000/material ? If it does then it shows the skin is working and it is a networking problem. Maybe Windows firewall is blocking access (unlikely if remote players are working) - or you are using an incorrect IP address or some subnet issues. Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Forbidden: settings/index.html
169.254 is the prefix used for an automatic assignment of an IP address when DHCP lookup fails. As for the rest ... I don't know the answer but can you simply delay the LMS startup until a 192.168 IP address has been assigned or the router can be pinged ... or failing that just make it wait N seconds. The typical way to do this it for wait-for-network in systemctl startup but I don't know if that treats a 169.254 as the network being available. Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Slim::Networking::Slimproto::slimproto_accept (179) unauthorized host, accept denied:
Do you have blocking enabled in Settings/Advanced/Security ? Maybe your new ISP has supplied a new router and your local IP addresses have changed from something like 192.168.0.xxx to 10.0.0.xxx and some old filtering rules that you had in place no longer work. However, you are on Windows ... so maybe it has flagged your current IP connection as not being at home - so it is preventing connections.
