According to xmail doc, you should use SMTPEXTAUTH.TAB file ...
It seems placement of files for custom authentifications is not as =
'mind'
will think at first read ...
except if I missunderstood the doc ... (and it can be, as English is =
not my
favorite langage ...)
To enable xmail SERVER part
After reading again and again xmail doc about authentication methods, =
you
are true ..
YOU CAN'T change xmail SMTP basic auth methods (LOGIN, PLAIN and =
CRAM-MD5).
Xmail allways use it's internal auth for this ...
You could use a 'virtual' LOGIN2 verb but you need to tell you mua to
specify
Davide
I'm interested too for external smtp auth for clients on login, plain =
and
cram-md5 auth on a domain basis like pop3 ...
Example in mind, for kerberos auth or radius auth for customers hosting =
they
own users lists and passwords ..
I'm sure you will find the best solution...

Hello
First at all verify connectivity with xmail ctrl port 6017 :
1 : On xmail server itself try a telnet session to ip 127.0.0.1 port =
6017
and see if you have a welcome from xmail ...
1a : If not successfull verify :
- xmail cmd line params for ctrl port option
- xmail ctrl.imap.tab to
What's a clear response ;-)
Thanks Chris ;-)
What is the new crypto algo used here ? Didn't pass any crack here ... =

I have the same problem (?) here ..
But for my point of view, this is not really a problem as 99,99% of the =
bad
emails syntaxes was really bad syntax errors in the mail address ...
The real question is : What Smtp RFC's say about email addresses syntax
check and to define if xmail or exchange
Are you sure ?
Is not it the 'next generation' subspatial-base64 ?
or the new semi-bits 64.5 (like semi-conductors) crypto algo ... ;-)
I will try to divide by 2 the cpu leads with the cutter ...
See you later ...

Very long thread here ...
Just four questions :
- Did you report your problem to hotmail ?
If you did not change anything on your server and it worked=20
before, and sudently stop working only with hotmail, and after=20
some basic tests (clear local dns, server cache, clear xmail dns=20

Hello Davide
Just a feature request, suggestion :
Currently there is no 'user rename' fonction.
But as it is current to change users emails on live systems (especialy as
isp)
Sure, we can do the job by hand or from a script
Tasks are :
- Save old account user.tab file
- Temporarly set old
This is a strange think as the 'X-AuthUser' is added by XMAIL not by =
outlook
or any overs mua !
Are you sure that the sender outlook configuration used the 'good' smtp
server ?
And that outlook was configured to 'auth' on smtp ...
Note that some anti-virus software badly handle this
Not to defend windows against linux or other os but it seams thit is =
not
exclusively a 'windows' related issue.
My windows/xmail couple work fine with hotmail/msn, started with =
windows

with
windows own dns servers ...

Many of our customers installed with exchange use our xmail servers as

Where did you put the settings in the exchange server ?
