Message-ID: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Gulp. And all this time I was thinking that a (for example) 328iS was a coupe with the Sport package. Wrong. First, what IS the sport package (what does it consist of) and how can I tell if a car has it included (other than an add saying "Sport package."? I really want an E36 M3 but don't know if I'll have the $$ for one, but lacking that, was interested in the 328iS, now I need to know what I'd be missing/gaining without/with a Sport package on the car... Sigh. Sorry for the newbie question. Best regards, Tom Reynolds Hereford, AZ --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. Checked by AVG anti-virus system (http://www.grisoft.com). Message-ID: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> The E36 328is is a two door coupe, the E36 328i is a four door sedan. My 99 E36 328is (for sale, but probably sold) factory sport package, a $2800 option, included ///M tuned/lowered springs, tighter struts & shocks, larger swaybars, 16x7 double spoke alloy wheels, ///M aerodynamics (front spoiler, rocker panel covers & rear diffuser), wide ///M side mouldings, sport seats (same as M3 Lux, very nice), ///M steering wheel & shift knob. I believe the late 98 328is as well as the 99 factory sport package included all the above items (probably cleaning out the ///M parts bins as the model line ended), while the earlier E36 sport packages cost less and included fewer of them. One way to check out if a car has factory sport package is to look under the rear seat bottom (where your butt sits; just pull it up & out), and stapled to the underside are the factory options. There's no option per se for sport package, at least on mine, but if you find double spoke alloy wheels, sports seats, M sports suspension, and/or M steering wheel, you almost certainly have a factory sport package car. Hope this helps. Dave Meyer 99 M coupe 99 328is (going, going, gon...) 03 FLHRI Stafford VA >Gulp. And all this time I was thinking that a (for example) 328iS was a >coupe with the Sport package. Message-ID: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Actually, there's a '99 323iS here for sale and it has the ///M logo on the steering wheel. The former owner also said something about the engine being a higher rated one...? (he was the finance manager of the dealership, so I'm taking all of this with a pound of salt.) But, would the ///M logo on the steering wheel indicate that this car had the Sport package, or would it maybe just indicate that someone put a different steering wheel on the car, or was good with graphics, or...? thanks again, Tom Reynolds Hereford, AZ --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. Message-ID: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Did he think saying that warranted a higher-rated price? There are no "sepcial version" 323 engines. Sport Package is usually limited to a few exterior cosmetics, slightly lowered suspension, wheel upgrade, possibly different steering wheel, and different seats in some models. In a given model, the new 330i Performance Package is one of only two times in the US market that there was an optional uprated motor bearing the same model designation. The other instance was the '95 M3 Lightweight, and that wasn't so much special engine parts as the highest-dynoing engines off the regular production line. - Rob ---- Original Message ---- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: RE: [UUC] 323iS (Sport package?)
