Message-ID: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Harborfreight.com has a light 'racing' jack on sale for $80 http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/Displayitem.taf?itemnumber=91039 Has rubber pad; I use it weekly at autocrosses; does the job. Harborfreight also has a cheap torque wrench I have used for years putting on lugs....$12. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 6 Aug 2004 13:38:34 -0400 From: "Steve Stoner" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subject: Re: Concensus on Alum Floor jacks ....?? Message-ID: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> I finally got one of the Harbor Freight units when the price came down below $100. I use it all the time around the garage for gokart and lawn tractor maintenance as well as light car work like oil changes. My almost three year old loves it too, he drags it around the garage and uses it on his pedal and electric vehicles. Obviously it's super for the track. I expect to have it for quite a while. Message-ID: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> My brother has one and thakes it ITB racing. From a pro perspective...The jack is average at best, but that doesn't mean garbage or bad. I'm just not impressed... But then again it doesn't cost the multi-hundreds of a Pro Hein Werner or something. So, I guess what I'm saying, is I'd use one but probably not buy one. They are no NASCAR jack. I did find it odd that the maintenance intervals pretty much doubled in length when BMW started paying for maintenance. Here is what I would do if I owned your car: Oil and filter changes - twice as often as the factory recommendation Brake fluid - flush/bleed once a year Coolant - flush & refill once every 2 years I also don't personally believe in "lifetime" transmission lubricants, but I'm not sure what a good replacement interval would be. On my E30s, I change the trans and diff lubes about every 36K miles or so. Factory recommendations for spark plugs and air filters might be OK though. Just my uneducated .02 cents on the subject.
