I've seen two now on the street. I think they look OK from the front.
It's definitely no E24.

heh, yeah. In CA, you need to have a horn that honks (in case you use
your car for a driving test) and an anal probe, er, smog test every 2
years for registration renewals. Windshield not required, but goggles
may be in the case of no windshield.

I looked at a very rust-free E28 535i ..1985 5-speed, sunroof ...with a
supposedly rebuilt motor today . White with blue leather and vinyl . It
is missing a few bits and pieces -like a RR tailight , the clip-in
surround for drivers door pull ....so I was wondering if anyone out
there is parting one of them out and has 'stuff' available if I go crazy
and buy it ....
It is FAR from 'cherry' , but would make a great driver ...or track car
...or driver's skule car ...
OFF digest replies pls ...also feel free to forward to anyone else who
may have one

I've got the Harbor Freight jack, and have been happy. But I sure 'respect'
it. Perhaps a better, still fairly affordable, alternative is this Sears
jack:

I have that Sears jack. I like it. Fits neatly under the front of my
e39. I wasn't really after the $200 model, but I needed a jack, and the
only other one on the shelf was the $15 model. uh uh.

I agree! :-)

I've found that I have to shift to 5th now in 3 places I didn't have to
previously, 2 of which are for very short periods of time (those being
going into Turn 10 and Turn 14; the other place is between 7 & 8, but I
stay I 5th through Turn 8).

I'm actually hoping to have first dibs on PeterG's 3.73 when he goes to the
3.64 :-)

Howdy,

So it looks like the ABS computer for my '93 325is w/o TC is '34 52 1 162
646', but the traction control computer is '34 51 1 091 035'...

First, is that correct? I'm no master with the ETK...

Second, does anyone know if the traction control computer would work with
a non-traction control car? I'd tend to doubt it, since I think the
traction control ABS cars are a four channel system vs. the 3 channel
system in my non-TC car...

Thanks!

Message-ID: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>

To shorten a long story...I would like to transfer one 1998 318Ti to my
fiance's name, however, here in Maryland unless we are married (or
otherwise related) she would have to pay taxes on car's value? And I can't
just add her to the title either.

Could I sell her the car for $100 and she would only have to pay tax on
that ~ $5 or so. The car is still being financed, so I don't fully own it,
but my bank is her bank, if that makes a difference. Or would she have to
take out her own "car loan", buy the car to pay-off my loan, and we could
put $100 on the bill of sale for the MVA?

My suggestion was to run down to the courthouse - that didn't go over well.

Phil

Most states have a fair market value clause that allows them to charge tax
on the fair market value of the vehicle, even if that's more than what was
paid for it.

The only time I haven't gotten queried about a $100 vehicle price was when
it was an 87 Dodge K car.

Did they allow a tax deduction on that one, or apply it to community
service? ;-)

Speaking of the Aries K, I saw one on the road the other day looking
like it was no more than a year old. Had a seal of one of the
municipal services on the side (water, gas, etc.). How on earth do
they keep these things running so long? It wasn't too long ago that
they still had some Pintos in service.
