Morning! It’s Caroline here. I’ve managed to scrape the frost off my windscreen
this morning to get here. How nippy is it this morning!! Hope you’re all
wrapped up warm.

We had the heart breaking story on last night of the huge number of dogs
abandoned in Lincoln. There was that incredible shot at the end of the piece
with one of the volunteers from the dog sanctuary and about five dogs sitting
with her and her family on the sofa! They’ve got so many abandoned dogs at the
moment that they don’t know where to put them, so they’re taking the dogs home
with them. I think a lot of you were really touched by the story and I know
you’ve been in contact with us last night and this morning asking for more
details. So if you do want to help these dogs and maybe even foster one of
them, then there are two ladies you can contact. Karen Fletcher on 07761 541123
or Val Hosegood on 07808 003123.

If you do ever want more information about a story that we do on Look North,
then you’re always welcome to get in touch. You can email us on [EMAIL
PROTECTED] or leave a message on our hotline numbers – 01522 875184 or 01482
314406. And we’ll try and get the answer to you as soon as we can!

I expect a lot of people will be finishing work today for Christmas and will
have a couple of days off for the holiday period. Well, spare a thought tonight
for some workers in Lincoln. Tonight on the programme, we’ll be at a foundry in
Lincoln, which is closing its doors today for the final time since its opening
at the turn of the century. We’ll be talking with the workers, who are facing
an uncertain future this Christmas. We’ll have their story tonight.

And a controversial one this one! We’ll be in Hull tonight at the first pub to
take advantage of the change in the licensing laws. This pub will stay open all
day on Christmas Day and then will continue to keep its bar open until 5am.
What do you think to that one? Do you fancy going out clubbing on Christmas
Day? Or do you think it’s a time for the family and you should be together
around the Christmas tree? Or do you think it’s a time to reflect on your
faith? There’s lots of time for you to get in touch on this one. I’m sure
you’ll have a view. So email me and let me know what you think to [EMAIL
PROTECTED]

Also tonight, we’ll be in Scunthorpe, meeting the hairdresser brothers, who are
hanging up their scissors after more than forty years in the salon. And is he
set for stardom? We’ll be chatting with the Lincolnshire boy, who’s filmed,
directed and produced his own film and he’s only thirteen!

All this week, we’ve been bringing you some lovely performances from choirs
from across the region. There were the choristers at Lincoln Cathedral and then
the Male Voice choir from Beverley last night. Tonight we’ll have our finale! A
very special rendition of the Twelve Days of Christmas – sung by twelve choirs
from our area. I’ve been told that these choirs vary quite a lot in style! Drag
Queens to Gospel Choirs – whatever next! So, something to look out for!!

I heard today that the Queen is getting down with the kids this Christmas. In
her 3pm speech, Her Majesty will be discussing the need to “guide the young”
and to “respect the elderly”. And following on from this youthful theme, for
the first time the Queen will be a podcast! For those of us, who are not
familiar with podcasts and what they mean, then let me explain! Apparently we
can download her from the Internet and play her on our Ipods or MP3 players. So
although, the Queen turned eighty this year, her speech will be streamed on the
Internet for the first time! So if you’re still eating your turkey at 3pm, then
you can always watch the Queen on your MP3 player a bit later on!

Well, I won’t keep you any longer. I expect you’ve got presents to wrap, cakes
to ice, food to buy, mince pies to bake, houses to clean and trees to decorate!
Wrap up warm if you go out, drive safely and put the kettle on at about twenty
past six, so that you can watch Look North at half past! Have your cup of tea
and put your feet up and catch up with the news on Look North. Hope you can
join me!

Take care,

Caroline
