control to
work in gimp on Linux (maybe I just missed some settings in gimp?).
Suggestions are welcome.

Hi VIctor -
This feature is (and has been) available either in gimp Perl

If you are not on windows, just install gimp-pyrhon to get it working
Is it possible to support the Mac platform, too? That would be really
cool... :)
Thanks in advance!

If you mean cropping an image by cutting off the white borders, just
try this in GIMP: Image Autocrop Image.

It should work without any tricks, unless the image borders that you
want to crop are not pure white. If the borders are not white, they

Hi!
Is there an easy way to lock one or more layers, so that one cannot
move or change them by any other way? I thought that was the function
of the little chain icons in the layer windows, but they seem to do
nothing... By the way, what are they for?
Thanks,
Victor Domingos
Right, but when I try to move a layer, sometimes I will be moving the
layer that is on top, instead. When I click the image with the Move
Tool, it will pick the top layer...
Hm... I noticed right now that there is an option for this tool...
Move the active layer - that's it :)

Is there a preference in GIMP, to make a channel appear as a
grayscale layer, instead of a red, green, or blue layer? Is
decomposing the image the only way to do this? I would laike to
compare two channels more easily, and the R/G/B color cast doesn't
seem to help...
Thanks,

+ Shift + Command + 4 and then press SPACEBAR a shot
from only one window
By the way, if you use these commands without pressing the CONTROL
key, the images are stored in a file, not the clipboard.
2. In GIMP, use File Acquire From Clipboard

Hi!
Is it possible in GIMP to use different views to the same image, in a
way that we can see a layer mask and the image itself at the same

operation?
Despite the name, Quick Mask doesn't have anything to do with layer
masks. Quick mask is a just quick way to convert the selection to a
channel and back.
I suggested Quick Mask to Victor because he mentioned he wanted to
see the layer mask and image at the same time because, IIRC, I

Hi Pablo,
you can use Script-Fu, more specifically 'gimp-levels-stretch':
This procedure allows intensity levels in the specified drawable to be
remapped according to a set of guessed parameters. It is equivalent to
clicking the Auto button in the Levels tool. This procedure is only valid
