Hello,

Oh boy this is gonna be a fun secret pal round. I received a package today
with two beautiful pairs of bobbins and some beeswax. One can never have to
many bobbins, and I am certainly lacking in that department.

I got a couple of books on ebay the first of the month, one is Dutch and the
other is by Jean Leader, the thistle, shamrocks, roses, daffodils and fushia
one. They take a lot of bobbins so these will certainly come in handy.

I hope you enjoy your holiday.

Thank you, Hugs from me to you, Lynn, West Virginia.

Hello,
To my secret pal, well you have done it again, you have made me wait and
spoiled me rotten. Makes me more appreciative and humbled, I must not be so
greedy. I love antiques, so now I am off to google to figure out exactly
which bobbins can be used, I know that spool bobbins will work, but I think
for a bobbin lace bobbin to work I will need some sort of attachment. I will
be using it, rest assured. I love antiques and don't wish to see them just
sitting on a shelf. Thank you again, Hugs, Lynn

p.s. I tried to post this to the secret pal site, but it won't let me.

took quite a while to make. The candle, love the smell of Christmas
cookies, my oven doesn't work so this fools the nose quite fine, the wolf

Indian, wolves and eagle things, so even after the smell is gone he will still

Dear Secret Pal,

I received your parcel Wednesday, it was a sunray after a gloomy day.

The day before was so sad : I first went to the funeral of a friend, in the
afternoon I learned that my mother-in-law was taken to hospital and in the
evening our old cat was run over by a car. One should be able to erase such
days !

Anyhow, thank you so much for the special goodies that you sent.

The magnetized notepads and magnets are already on the fridge.

The sewing kit will go in my suitcase so I'll take it with me in Spain next
month. I'll have something to do during my free time after the lace lessons
I'll give there. When it will be finished I'll put my lace tools for
demonstration in it and certainly the little cutter you also sent. This one
seems really convenient to cut threads close to your work.

I looked at the postcards also. You live in a beautiful region !

I'm looking forwards to next month when I will learn who you are.

Thank you again.

Hello to my Secret Pal

Well - the package brightened up a decidedly gloomy week! I have just come
out of hospital, after suffering the pain of a kidney stone which felt like
the Rock of Gibraltar, and fully expecting to have it all sorted! But -
right up until Sunday afternoon, I assumed they were going to blast it to
smithereens this week - then was told that, as there were a lot of admissions
to the Ward on Sunday and Monday, I would have to go home, and wait to be
called back. At which point they will repeat all the tests they have already
done, and make an appointment to have it all fixed .

We will see.

Anyway - as you can doubtless imagine, I was so pleased to receive the parcel!
The thread is lovely, so I am going to have to choose the project very
carefully to use it - I'll let you know what I decide. I am also delighted
with the little tool keeper - and even more pleased that you had obviously
made it yourself! The flower is lovely, and I do thank you so much - it
will be used constantly, and I will therefore think of you a lot.

The whirly note pad is great - we get through a lot of notepads in our house,
but I think this one is too special to use for 'ordinary' notes - only special
notes will be written on it. The tea-towel is delightful with all those
kiwis - it will be used as a pillow cover, so that everyone who sees it will
admire it.

Now - you must really be psychic!I was due to go to a Lace Day last
Saturday, but was in hospital, being dosed up with morphine (and what a
difference that makes)! So - my long list of needs and wants wasn't used,
but top of the list came a storage thingy for the beads - and now, thanks to
you, I have one! So - many thanks indeed for all your kindness, and I do
hope you are as lucky with your Secret Pal as I am with mine! I am looking
forward to next month, as I am so wanting to know who you are - you have given
a few clues but I wonder if I am correct.

Anyway - thanks once again for your kindness, and I shall look forward to next
month, to finally find out who my delightful Secret Pal is.

Yours with love and God Bless,

Carol, in Suffolk UK

The bobbin holder is so lovely. I really love the bobbin pattern on the
outer cloth, and to find the bobbin snug inside it was such a bonus. I
love the colours on the bobbin - I am a big fan of strong colours. As
for the wee note-box and pencil, that is just so cute. I am not quite
sure yet where I will put it. it will be somewhere that I can see and
use it regularly.

I do hope you enjoy your trip to Greece and Athens. Cretan lace is a

How lovely to be able to share a hobby with your mother. I have the

Dear Secret Pal,

Your parcel arrived at the end of last week but I was busy getting my son
ready for his year-end dance recital and also running a garage sale. I
didn't have a chance until today to really have good look at the goodies
you sent. Thank you so much for everything. I think I may have to share
the writing paper with my daughter - her face lit up when she saw it! The
air freshener will be put in our commuter car (we have to drive my one son
quite a distance for his dance classes as we live in a small town). The
bobbin is lovely and I will be putting the beautiful butterfly bobbin on
it. I haven't got many divider pins and I do need quite a few on one of
the pieces I am working on. This one feels wonderful and I can hardly wait
to start using it. However it may be a few weeks before I can as I have a
lot to do in the next couple of weeks preparing my children for their
summer activities and for our family trip to the west coast of Canada. I
love the colour of the blue thread - now I have to find the right project
to use it for.

My dear Secret Pal,

Well - another lovely package, and timed just right too!The card is
beautiful, with lovely words, so I will treasure that. Friends have been so
kind, and sent such lovely cards, and they all help to make an awful situation
just that bit more bearable.

The 23rd Psalm is one of my favourites, and, along with the other little card
'God is before me' has gone straight into my Missal - I am so pleased with
them both, and again, will treasure them.

The beads are great - I love spangling, and I very often get the urge to
re-spangle bobbins, so I will have a good supply of beads to use!The tin
is lovely too - I love collecting tins of all sorts of shapes and sizes, so
you can rest assured that it will be put to good use - possibly as a safe
haven for beads and ready-made up spangles, so I do thank you for it. The
chocolates inside it didn't last very long at all, so you can guess how
pleased we were with those ...

The thread is great - you can never have too much thread, can you!The
patterns I am (still) designing for my sister's charity tend to use the DMC
crochet cotton, so it will be well-used indeed.

Lastly, the little book of Hope is lovely, and so inspirational - I have kept
it by my bed, with my prayer books, so it is used almost every night!

Thank you so much for your gifts - I think of you each time they are used, and
I am so grateful!

Love and God Bless,

Carol - in Suffolk UK - where it is wet and not as warm as it should be!As
soon as they slap a hose-pipe ban on us, the rain appears - maybe a hose-pipe
ban is the UK equivalent of a rain dance ...

Hello Secret Pal!

Thank you for another lovely parcel. You are very generous. I have always
wanted a tea towel to use as a cover cloth as so many of my friends have - and
now I have one! It is prettier than theirs, too. The Canadian Lace Badge
will go in my display cabinet. It will be a very special reminder of you
being my Secret Pal. I love the bobbins. They are beautifully turned, and I
have not seen any by David Davies before. They are really beautiful. The
threads are so pretty. I have not used any Oliver Twists before, but I am
looking forward to trying these out. The little bowl is beautiful. I love
wood, and when I opened it, I just sat and stroked it for ages - so silky! Do
you know what wood it is? The postcards and notepad from Southwell Workhouse
are very interesting. The notepad will be put to good use, of course, and I
was fascinated to read about the Workhouse itself.

I love your long newsy letters. You have certainly had a mixed time recently
with your camping exploits. I had to laugh at your difficulties with the new
cooker. You seem to do the same as we do - go to look at one thing and come
back with something else, most often much more expensive! I should think it
was quite funny to watch someone else struggling with their awning, too. I am
glad you got it all sorted out in the end, and I am sure you will have many
happy times in your new caravan with your very posh awning!

We are now officially 'on the market'. Most of the hard work has been done in
the way of decorating. We just have to maintain things as they are - not
easy, as I am not a naturally tidy person, but then neither is my husband. I
had just finished sorting out things in the utility room last Sunday when he
came home and dumped some things on the work surface. I swept them up and put
them out of sight. The next morning, he asked me where I had put them, and it
took me 20 minutes to remember! We did locate them in the end, anyway. Now
we are waiting for the hordes of people who are going to be clamouring to buy
the house!

You are lucky to have been to so many lace days recently. I am going to
Chepstow on Saturday. I am so looking forward to it. Will you be there? How
funny if you were - and I shall not know it is you, even if I talk to you!

Thank you once again for a great parcel - I am very lucky to have you as my
Secret Pal.

Dear Secret Pal!

What a wonderful parcel arrived today! I am absolutely delighted with it. I
was feeling a bit 'flat' after all the busy-ness of Easter, and it has really
cheered me up.

The bobbins are absolutely great. I love the antique ones - they have so much
character and I love to think of someone else using them before me. The ones
from Spain and Gozo are really great. I think someone must have told you I
love to collect bobbins from other countries, and I had not got any like
these. The little pincushion is so sweet - I love her lace hat, and will give
my grandchildren the pleasure of naming her for me - she will certainly be a
great addition to my pillow, and in aid of such a good cause too. The little
notepad is so pretty - too pretty to use! I shall have to keep it out of
sight when my daughter visits or she will want it. The postcards are great
too - I am building up a really good collection now, and these will be a
welcome addition. The scissors keeper will be so useful and I think the
stretchy bit is a really good idea. I have not seen one like this before, and
it looks as if it will clip to almost anything - I am always losing my
scissors when I most need them.

Your lovely newsy letter is good reading. I am glad I am not the only one to
hide pillows out of sight when not in use. I have hidey-holes all over the
house for lace equipment. The trouble comes when I have to remember where I
have put the thing I particularly want. I am determined to be more organised
in our new house - but I am sure I have said that before! We have not yet got
to the point of putting the house on the market, but hope to be able to do so
in two or three weeks' time. We have been in this house longer than we have
ever been anywhere before, and there seems to be 101 bits and pieces to finish
first. I have been on the internet to look at other houses in the area we
want to move to, and have found some good ones, but we are being very
restrained and are not allowing ourselves to become too excited in case the
ideal one is gone by the time we have an offer on ours. We are supposed to be
downsizing too, and I am having such difficulty in deciding what I can bear to
part with. It is all very exciting - and exhausting!

I hope you have a lovely time when you go away in your caravan - have you
planned many trips over the coming season? Of course, lace equipment and
knitting is an essential part of holiday packing, isn't it? It is in our
camper, anyway!

Thank you once again for a lovely parcel. I hope the lady sending to you is
as generous as you are to me.

Dear Secret Pal,

I hope you had a wonderful Easter. Your package arrived just in time for
Easter. The cute decorated egg joined the other ones on our Easter egg
tree and the chick joined us for Easter dinner! I'm afraid my daughter
likes the chick quite a bit and I think he/she will end up as a permanent
fixture in my daughter's room (except at Easter).

The bobbin is gorgeous! It has such a wonderful feel to it and is a great
size for gimps. Is it rosewood? I'm just in the process of spangling some
of my bobbins so the spangle arrived at a most opportune time. And of
course thread is always appreciated. Last but certainly not least, the
chocolates are a nice treat as I don't join the children on their Easter
egg hunt and they are loathe to give up any chocolate to my husband and myself.

Thank you for such great gifts.

2006-04-12 Thread Carol Adkinson
Hello to my Secret Pal,

Well - firstly, I think you were very brave to sign up for the exchanges when
you are moving house!Isn't that supposed to more stressful than almost
anything else in life - but it sounds as if you are coping well!

The package was delightful to receive! The small of the lavender even
before I opened the package fully was great - I love the scented sachets, and
the toiletries, and they are in use already. One of the sachets is in my
car, and the other strung over the lamp above the computer - it will stop us
getting stressed, I am sure.

The colour of the thread is lovely too. I am getting (very gradually!) more
adventurous with colures, and those muted colours I love. I will now have to
find a 'special' pattern to use it. The little pink bag is super too - in
fact, the lavender sachet is in that, in my car, so every time I turn a
corner, I am reminded of you and your generosity!

Now the ear-rings. What can I say? I am delighted with them, and am looking
forward to wearing them - roll on Easter Day!!!You'd be surprised - I love
the shell, and one of my class members toured Australia and New Zealand in a
camper van for three months last year, and brought back some earrings - but
she asked me to spangle a pair of bobbins with them as her ears aren't
pierced, and she very rarely wears ear-rings. I was pleased to do it for
her, but was very envious, as the Paua shell is so lovely - but now I have my
own, so I am pleased indeed.

I also owe you an apology for last month!I didn't mention the package of
'Mud' toiletries, did I.It wasn't because I wasn't pleased, it was because
they were already in my bathroom, being used, so thank you so much for them -
I sometimes have trouble as my skin is awkwardly sensitive, but they aren't
causing any problems, and are definitely doing good!

So - thank you once again for everything, I will hope that the move goes well
and in a trouble-free manner, and also hope that your SP is as good to you!

Love and God Bless,

Carol - your Secret Pal.

Dear Secret Pal,

Thank you for another great package this month. The compact is really neat
- I haven't seen anything like it before and as I don't have a large purse,
it'll be perfect. I'll be able to enjoy the candle while taking a
bath. The little 'cards' are cute and will be put on display. I have a
new pattern which I will be starting this week (I hope) and the pin cushion
will come in very handy. And I have quite a few bobbins that need
spangling so I can really use the spangling wire. I love the spangle you
sent - the middle bead is gorgeous!

Last month I forgot to thank you for the bookmark. My daughter put it in
her book so quickly that I barely saw once it came out of the package!

Thank you again and I'm looking forward to next month's surprises,

Received another wonderful parcel from Down Under yesteday. Loved the bobbins
and thank you for telling me what kind of wood they are. The hand-dyed local
threads are a wonderful shade. I'm going to save them for something special.
One note pad will go right in my purse and the other will take its place when
ready. And the sachet smells so good! I love your notes on the postcards --
they give me a flavor of the country. I have been constantly using the book
mark from last time. It is so handy for my bedtime reading, so you know the
last thing that I think about is Australia when I place the bookmark on the
page -- thinking about saving my pennies for a trip to Australia sometime!

Hello Secret Pal!

Thank you so much for my parcel which arrived this morning. It is lovely.
I really love these bobbins, as the thread always stays where you want it
and does not hop off the top at the wrong moment, and the pyrography is just
so beautiful.

I have a confession to make - Jenny Hester is my lace teacher, so I imagine
she is having a bit of a laugh about all this! She has been very good and
kept the secret, and I shall not try to persuade her to tell me -- I shall
enjoy the surprise at the end even more this time!

We seem to have more than Jenny in common, since you have grandchildren, and
so do I, but unfortunately mine are not interested in lacemaking, and you
have a caravan and we have a camper. Do you like dogs, too? Ours are
spoilt rotten, but both really deserve it.

Thank you once again for the parcel! The bobbins will be on my pillow and
in use very shortly. 'Speak' to you next month.

Hello to a very generous person!

I was delighted to receive my package this morning! and what lovely goodies,
beautifully wrapped, and with a lovely (hand-made) card too - what a person of
talents!

The wind-chimes are delightful - I am one of those who cannot go into a store
selling windchimes without giving them a try, so I am really pleased with
them. I will hang them over the window catch in the 'Lace Place' so that
every breath of wind will activate them, and I will be reminded of you.

The little calendar is very handy, so that is already stuck to the computer
monitor - saves me straining to see the wall-chart my husband has on the wall,
which is too high for me to see clearly, so that is greatly appreciated. The
tape measure is a stroke of genius too - my 'Lacemakers' Circle' tape has just
given up the ghost, so you must be psychic! Did you do the cross-stitch
yourself - it is lovely, and will be treasured. Especially if it helps the
inches of lace grow into yards ...

The key-ring!No one else can 'borrow' it as it has my initial on it, so I
am very pleased indeed with it - I do thank you very much.

So - thank you so very much for all the goodies - I am really pleased, and do
hope that your SP is as good to you!

Love and God Bless,

Hi to my Secret Pal in NZ!

I was so pleased to receive the goodies this morning after a not-too-good
start to the day!

The rose scented bath stuff, and the silver sugar star were looked at with
envy by my 4 - year old grand-daughter - she is into pink and purple in a very
big way and is training to be a Princess, so we both loved them! The nail
decals were also well-received - I do love things like that, and will enjoy
putting them on my nails.

The magnetic pad and the gift-tags are so pretty - almost too good to use! -
so I do thank you so much for them, and the beads - I love spangling, so will
greatly enjoy either buying new bobbins to use them with (?) or changing the
beads on bobbins I have - I'll leave you to ponder which option will appeal
most!

Once again, many thanks indeed - I will look forward to next month and,
ultimately, finding out who you are!If things had gone to plan just after
my husband and I were married, we would be living in New Zealand now, and
possibly lace-making neighbours - what a wonderful thought!

Thanks once again, and may your pins never bend.

Your package arrived today, what a treat, I love the bobbin and no I am not a

always gets in the way. G I don't have a lot of bobbins, still trying to
find a place that is reasonable in prices, usually what it get is in secret
pal exchanges or ebay. (They love my money) I love the key ring ( not the
magnet you thought) but it is already on my key chain. The Bobbin Lace Book
is quite nice, I can't wait to have myself a good read. But, the icing on the
cake (I think) is the crochet hook. I love antiques and it has imprinted on
it that it was made in 1911. Wow, DH said put it up so you don't lose it, but
I just want to show it off. Sometimes I think I was born in the wrong era, I
love all that is old much more than new. Any way, Thank you for all you sent,

Thank you for the lovely package that arrived today. I will have to keep a
tight hold on the address book and pencil case as my DIL loves dolphins and
they are so unusual I am sure that she will try to claim them. I will add the

places around the world. I have a photo of my great niece that will be just
right for the frame and I think that I will make a mat in tatting with the
beautiful aqua thread.
The postman had a little trouble with the address as it is no 27, I think that
I may have confused you as this was the answer to question 3.
I hope that your DH is well on the way to a full recovery. It is not easy to

Amidst the activities and fevered brows common to this time of the year, I
sat in a pool of calm yesterday gloating over my secret pal parcel. Right
through-out the Secret Pal exchange Fay delighted me with the canny choices
she sent, the surprises and the delights, and boy, will I be sorry to lose
her as a secret pal.

Thank you Fay, you are a one in a million and I will be in touch off list.

And to Hannah, who wrote such a pleasing thank-you - it is a warming thought
that you are enjoying my choices. I got myself the same Irene Tomlinson
pricking I sent you: for the day I start learning how to do Bucks and no
doubt yours will be done well before I even get to do my first Bucks piece,
LOL.

Thank you

Dear Secret Pal from NZ,

Thankyou so much for my parcel for December. I so love the puau bracelet I
didn't know it came in so many colours. Did you tat the little mat yourself?
It is very lovely and I will treasure it. The calendar is great we are
planning a trip to NZ next year and we are looking at the pictures for places
to visit when we are there. Thanks for the notepad. It will be quite useful.
The beads and the spider will go into my bobbin kit and quickly be attached to
the bobbins that you sent earlier. As we will be away this Christmas I haven't
set up the Christmas tree but I do collect Christmas decorations and this one
is so beautiful it will definitely be a feature.

What a lovely little book mark. My husband has made me buy lots of books to
take on the plane so I don't drive him nuts so it will go in with them. I love
the thread it will be nice to tat. And the little bag and soap, fantastic. I
hope that you will be able to tell me the story behind the little bag when we
are properly introduced.

Cheers for now, Yvonne.

I recieved my package today from my secret pal in England, thank you very
much, I was wanting to find something new to attempt and the fan pattern
with the fan bones is scrumptious. Now my biggest problem is how to do the
stitches. I do not yet know how to make lace just by looking at the
pattern. If someone could write to me I would be happy to find out what
kind of stitches and how many bobbins are required.

Thank you again to my secret pal, I can't wait until next month to find out

Dear Secret Pal,

Thank you for another wonderful package of goodies. The bobbins are
beautiful and feel wonderful. I haven't seen that style before so I am
wondering if you made them? I don't have a lazy susan and have always
wanted one so I was really happy to see the one you included. The light
pull is great as it really fits in with our decor. We have a lot of
unpainted wood moldings, etc in our house and the light in our bedroom does
need a pull!! I have to confess I am not exactly sure what the other items
are used for. I think the two smaller pieces of wood with the pins look
like they could somehow hold bobbins in place on a pillow - I'm just not
sure how. Please let me know if I am right.

I am really looking forward to finding out who you are!

2005-11-19 Thread delia.palin

Dear Secret Pal

Thank you for another lovely parcel which arrived this morning. You must
have bought loads of that pretty wrapping paper in my favourite colour!
This parcel was just great, as always.

I love the little teddy, and he supports such a good cause too. I support
Breast Cancer Charities myself, as my Mum was a victim. The emery board is
in another of my favourite colours and will be saved for a special occasion!
The little candle holder and candle are so pretty - almost too pretty to
use - and the apron will be pressed into service over Christmas, as the one
I have now is a bit past its best, to say the least. (VBG) The little coin
purse is so sweet. I like the belt loop on the back, and it will be so
useful when I take the dogs for a walk, as I will not have to take my bag,
but will have some change handy for parking etc.

The serviettes/napkins you sent me in a previous parcel have been used and
admired when we have had special visitors. I have never seen such pretty
ones in England.

I am greatly looking forward to finding out who you are next month. Thank
you once again for my parcel.

Hi Secret Pal,

Thanks for this months parcel of goodies.
I love the needle case and my aunty who is a lace maker and a bobbin maker
will be very jealous when I tell her about the rescued trees!

The bobbin is very unusual and I don't have another like it. I also love the
spangles and will put them to good use.

I had guessed in the end that you must of been here or sent someone else who
was over. What a great pity that I missed you and Faye it would of been so
lovely to meet you!
I was at work but only work a mile away and could of popped home if I'd known
you were coming.
I'm surprised that you found our house at all ! Friends here have a problem
with the aptly named Wigley Road and I'm not surprised you got lost trying to
return !
What a fantastic trip you made and you were very lucky to visit so many
countries and so many lace places!

The past months have gone so quickly and I can't believe next month is the
last.
Until then,

Hi Secret Pal,

I knew something special was in the mail when DH made of point of asking if I
had found the mail by my computer. It was your package! (He usually doesn't
say anything about the mail.)

My little cat does not like the lavender sachet, so I have no fear that he will
steal it. Whatever I put it with will also be safe from him. G The sachet
will remind me not only of summer, but of my English Secret Pal and my visit to
England a few years ago. The castle pictures will do the same. I saw several
castles on my tour that I would have loved to visit, but we only saw the
outside. (sigh)

The bookplates will be used for special lace books. The bobbin and cover cloth
are most welcome, and will be put to work soon. The overlocked edging on the
cover cloth is a fancy stitch I've not seen on anything around here. Very
pretty. I'm looking forward to next month when I can put a name with the
bobbin, and other things you've sent.

The package looked like it had been opened, and the second sachet you mentioned
was missing. Thanks for the thought, anyway.

I'm in the middle of Christmas ornaments and tend to start more than one
project at a time so have several pillows in use. I think I'm ahead of
deadline for most of my Christmas lace commitments, so the lacemaking is going
well. I do need to keep at it, though, as the holiday season is creeping up
quite fast and I'd like a few extra ornaments or bookmarks on hand for those
unexpected occasions when a little something gift is needed.

Thank you for all the treats in your package. It will be fun next month to
find out who's been sending them to me this round. Have a great holiday in
Wales.

The stick pins are superb. I had to search in my dictionary for the words

The little spanish bobbins will definitivly hang in the Christmas tree and
I'll add some other ones so they don't feel alone. I'll also just have the
time to make the little cross stitch star for Christmas.
The hot pads will be used this evening, I'll need them to take the hot dish
out of the oven. The girls are coming back for the week-end and I prepared a
traditional belgian recipe : chicons au gratin (I think the english word for
chicon is chicory).

To my Secret Pal,

Your interesting package came in today's mail. It's always fun to open
mysterious packages.

The crochet hook is appreciated, and will be used. It's so kind of you to
share with me.

My cat liked the key tag but didn't get to carry it away. I still have it
safe and sound. It's cute. The magnet will go in the kitchen and will
remind me of my trip to the UK a few years ago. I saw the various animals
in person on that trip.

The little frames are delightful. It will take some thinking to find the
perfect little pieces of lace for each of them. I haven't seen any like
them around here.

Only a couple more months, and then I can find out whom is sending all
these delights to me. I look forward to finding out.

All my apologies for not replying sooner but I was abroad for two weeks.
I came back this week-end and found your parcel amongst the mail, like a
nice welcome home present.
Thank you so much once again for the lovely gifts.
The pencil bag with the pencil comes just at the right time because my
old one becomes a little worn and to small.
The chocolate treats will be appreciated too. Halloween is quite new
for us in Belgium. Three years ago, it was the first time children came
to my door. When I was a child Halloween didn't exist here at all.
I'll probably give the ladybug to my youngest girl, her nickname on
internet is ladycox (cox from coccinelle = ladybug in French) because
we have an old VW beetle (also named coccinelle in French) we just
restored so she can drive it.
The cover cloth is lovely and I'll be very proud when I go for lace
demonstrations to put it on my pillow.
I hope you'll solve all the problems concerning your conference and wish
you a good autumn.

Thank you for another wonderful parcel. I wish I had the 'free' time you
have!! I have added this month's card to the display of your cards on our
piano. I usually take down accumulated cards every month or so but I am
leaving yours there as they are so beautiful. I love the piece of lace on
this month's. Currently I have had little time for lacemaking with a busy
job and very busy children.

The pyrographed cat on the needle case is wonderful. We have three cats
right now since we have decided to keep a kitten from one of the other
cats' litters (she was a stray and has since been spayed). I would like to
reduce it to two but it's a pretty hard decision to decide which one needs
to go. The pin cushion is great and I am hoping I will be using it soon as
I need to start Christmas decorations within a couple of weeks if they are
to get finished in time for Christmas. And thank you for the thread. I
may try it for the beautiful butterfly pattern you sent, although I don't
think that will happen until after Christmas.

Thank you so much for everything - I love all your handiwork!! You are

I was very excited when I got your parcel today. I thought I was going to the
post office to pick up a parcel from my DD1 in the US and instead the parcel
was from New Zealand.

Firstly thank you for your encouraging note. It was very positive,
Unfortunately this situation must come up from time to time. Thankyou for
coming on board.

The little bear was so cute and I am going to have to hide it from DD2 who
has earmarked it. We also loved the oven mitt puppet, it's little ears
sticking up are gorgeous. Did you make it, we thought you did. I will have a
bath later and scrubby mitt my legs, very handy. The calendar will be
fantastic and I will be able to remember you all next year when I look up the
date.

I am not a prolific lace maker but I will have to get the lace out now so as
to use the beautiful bobbins. I like to have bobbins of different woods.
And I am hiding the note pad so my family doesn't take off with it to write
insignificant notes on.

Cheers, your pal, Yvonne.

the bobbins! The plum spangles are just great and I don't mind having
heavy spangles - I've made quite a number of them myself in order to use
special beads. My children and I make a number of Christmas ornaments that
are tape laces with lots of sewings so the crochet hook will certainly come

The beads on the divider pin are so pretty, I think I will use it as a pin

2005-09-04 Thread Anne Nicholas
Dear Secret Pal,

So sorry for being late with my thanks but I have been on holiday !!

We have just returned from very sunny Margarita where we had a great holiday
but are still a bit jetlagged !!

Thank you very much for the lovely goodies that you sent this month.

The pen has already been put in my handbag and the scissors added to my lace
bag. The scissor case is very pretty, did you make it?

I have also put the thread holder in my lace bag and can't wait to try it
out!

Thanks also for the photos. The lace on the christening dress is beautiful !!

Thanks once again,
until next month,

Anne Nicholas

Dear Secret Pal

Many thanks for your lovely parcel of wonderful gifts.

I will be totally honest and let you know that it arrived last Friday. I have
however been busy entertaining my nephew visiting from Canada. My children
were so excited to see him so I am sure you can imagine it has been a very
hectic time. Now he is visiting other relatives and I have time to catch up!
I am so sorry for the delay in acknowledging your parcel.

I could smell the gorgeous aroma from the soap before I opened the parcel -
that one will be kept for special soaks in the bath when I need to relax!!
The beads are very special and will definitely come in useful. The sewing
machine badge is fun and will go on my pin cushion.

The quilting patten looks great. I have never attempted this sort of quilting
before - but my mum has! Maybe she will do it for me

We had a lovely holiday - thank you for asking. It was very relaxing and nice
and hot too. Don't worry about getting my son's name wrong (it was very close
anyway) - he definitely enjoyed the lollipop!! It lasted for ages!!

Once again, thank you for everything.

Best wishes

Dear Secret Pal in Belgium

Thank you so very much for the lovely package. It was here when I got home
from work. The mail must have been really late today as I left for work at 3
p.m.

I will wind the bobbins for a mini class on Saturday, so I will put them to
use right away. They made a nice noise when I was handling them, I can hardly
wait to use them.

The magnets are very cute, they will look great on my fridge.

I just bought some new pins, they will have to wait patiently for a new box, I
will take my time to eat the candies. The tins are very pretty and I know the
candies will be enjoyed.

The chocolates are delicious, my daughter and I had to sample one.

I love the lace you sent last month, I am happy to know that you designed it
yourself, it is beautiful. If you have been making lace for 18 years, you
must have a lot of beautiful things. I have only been making lace for 5 years
and I finally am able to make something. I feel like the first few years were
spent making samples.

Thanks so very much, you are a great secret pal,

Irene Whitham

Dear Secret Pal,

Thank you so much for my parcel which arrived today. This afternoon I
went to visit my oldest daughter in Brussels where she is studying and
find the parcel at home when I came back.
The magnet clips have an irresistible smile and are already on my
fridge, ready to hold some important notes.
The continental commemorative is beautiful and absolutely compatible
with the bobbins I actually use on a Fleuri de Bruges lace. I'll soon
try it.
The tiny clips arrived intact and I'll add them to my lace kit. Thank
you also for the fishy notebook, the lovely cards and the pin from
Oregon. What are the flowers and the bird on it ?

Thank you again.

Dear Secret Pal,

Thank you so much for the lovely parcel of goodies you sent this month. The
metallic threads are wonderful colours and I look forward to experimenting
with them. The assortment of little beads has come at a perfect time, I
need to spangle some more bobbins and was needing these little fillers. One
never seems to have enough of them do you.
I love the assortment of wools you sent also, I have a project or two that
they can be used on, underway at present. Thank you also for the paper. It
was very kind of you to go looking for things for me. Much appreciated.
Thank you once again and I look forward to next month.

Kind Regards
Julie from New Zealand

I have had a couple of days in bed with flu, and came downstairs for the
first time this morning to find a parcel waiting - thank you for the
bobbins, cutter, cover cloth, cross stitch kit and books.

I've seen the depth of frost on the grass and out rather large deck outside,
so think I'll go back to bed again.

Thank you again.

Dear Secret Pal

Thank you so much for my parcel which arrived this morning. What a lovely
lot of goodies - and I have plans for all of them already! The wombat is
gorgeous and I have decided to call him Wally. I love soft toys, and this
one is so different and cute. My daughter will be so envious. I am going
to display him on my dressing table. The bookmark is in use already - I
have just started reading a new book, and was using a bit of an envelope to
mark my place. The artwork on it is very interesting, and I love the design
on the snake's back - it looks like you should be able to adapt it to a lace
design! The embroidery kit is so pretty. I shall take it with me when I go
away on holiday in a week's time. It will not take up too much room, and
will be fun to do. The bag is very nice, and as I have an 'event' to go to
soon that I am a bit apprehensive about, I will use it then for the first
time and it will be just right. The spangles are so pretty and unusual. I
have never seen beads that shape before, and they will certainly look really
special on my pillow.

The gloves you sent me last time really do work - I use them all the time in
the shower, and am so smooth now! The threads you sent me are in use in a
Hardanger embroidery that I have been wanting to do for a long time when I
could find the right threads, and these are perfect.

Thank you once again for a lovely parcel. 'Speak' to you next month. Take
care.

Dear Secret Pal,
I must apologize for not replying sooner, my computer went down the day I
received your parcel last month and we have just got ourselves a new one so
I am sorry for the delay.

Thankyou for the lovely goodies, a girl can never have enough pins, threads
or bobbins to keep her out of trouble. Thankyou also for the Book on
Bobbins, I have been enjoying reading it.

Thank you once again

Thank You so much for the wonderful package. The chocolate coins and the
gum were great. My brothers helped me take care of them. The Brugge cloth is
so neat. I will use it on my pillow at my next lace demonstration. I love
to demonstrate making lace. The lavender sachet is so nice. My littlest
brother keeps running throught the house waving it so the house smells like
it.
The card is very nice but my favorite thing is the Dolphin light up pen. My
mom made me cover cloth and bobbin rolls with Dolphin material. Thank You
again for the wonderful package.Amanda Moad
