old IP for Player name: I guess I thought it was for some other
computer. So I did not go to the menu.

There's another thread on this topic in which the Slim Devices CTO has
written that Slimserver 6.2.2 will in fact run on OS 10.2.8 soon, after
a few bugs have been ironed out. Future versions of Slimserver will not
support 10.2.8.

Is it possible to use a IOMEGA StorCenter Network Hard Drive 250GB
(33325) with the SlimServer Software running on it or directly through

For one thing, SlimServer doesn't use UPnP.
A lot of people like the Infrant ReadyNAS X6,
although they have come out with a new ReadyNAS
NV, which has even more processing power than the X6.
Plus Infrant supports SlimServer to the extent
that they have a SlimServer plugin right there on

If you press and hold the power button your SB will restart negating the
need to pull the power out. I don't know of a way to have the older
versions automatically re-connect. My SliMP3s have to be powered off by
removing the power connector, although sometimes they don't seem to mind
the server
I saw that yesterday via Tomhardware's News. WOW!! I want one even more
now. Finally, the hot swap SATA in a shoebox. And the beauty of it!! I
wouldn't want to hide it in a closet!

I'm looking at redoing my lame-o attempt at home automation. I had a
Crestron unit and a bunch of light controls. It has never worked quite
right, and my wife isn't all that happy with it either.
I know of OmniPro, Crestron and AMX. Are there any other manufacturers
that I should consider?

I can't definitively narrow down the slow down issues - it seems to
happen on a regular basis though, say avery few mins, perhaps when you
are polling the server? The minimise to tray icon definitely has some
bugs in that it sometimes disappears, flickers regularly etc, so I'd

Scanning fwd/rev, of course, only works with native formats (mp3, wav,
flac, wma for sb3). As an alternative to the fwd/rew buttons, you may
want to try the song scanner plugin. you can navigate to that, and
then you are presented with a bar graphic representing the entire song
time. Use the

through until the track resumes playing. It's ridiculous.. I'm guessing
that the people who designed this function never really used it much.

I think the link is good. SourceForge is having problems right
now; try again later.
The Linux, OpenBSD link seems to focus on more hobby-like
automation (i.e. X-10 stuff), which is not terribly reliable.

considering what was playing, which was Brian Eno and David Byrne, My
Life In The Bush of Ghosts, and in the middle of song two I couldn't
tell if I was going backward or forward, or even double speed or real
