Trying to get HDSDR going with omnirig. Everything seems to be installed
and the display looks great. My RS232 blinky box tells me the computer
and the radio are talking but the frequency display on HDSDR doesn't
track with the radio. I was expecting to be able to do that like NaP3.
Any ideas out
Hi Bill,
You have to use the K3's internal keyer to send data.

Hello all,
I have posted the new edition of The Elecraft K3: Design,
Configuration, and Operation Second Edition up on Lulu. I understand
there is a 20% discount code for December: DECBOOKS12
There aren't many significant changes in the second edition compared to
the first edition. The errata in
Hi Art,
Try this:
The error message ERR IO3 often means that the RS232 serial interface
chip on the KIO3 board has failed. This may be caused by a static
discharge or nearby lightning strike. The chip that fails is U1 on the
KIO board, as shown in Figure 7 25. Here is a procedure to check U1.

Are there any schematics available for the KAT500? I'd like to
understand more fully the cabling issues and options.
Thanks.

Hi Jan,
Here are some other, perhaps less terse, words.

8.1.2 Programmable Function Keys with Macros
A sequence of commands that are assigned a programmable function key is
called a macro. The K3 Utility program is used to create and test
macros, and it has a number of macro examples in
Hello all,
Well, the KE7X KRC2 app note is yet another unfinished project I need to get
back on.
The KRC2 is a great little decoder box with tremendous flexibility in how you
use it but it does require you to carefully study the schematic. Here are some
of my more-or-less random observations.

Hi Joel,
That is documented under Switch Tones. Check out section 2.6.1 on page 32 and
the SW TONE config menu on 283.
Sorry it wasn't in the index under ATU or KAT3 tones.

Hate to rain on the /qrp parade, but when I've operated on the DX side, and

I just got an email from www.Lulu.com stating until 11:59 pm (EDT?) a 25%
discount applies (code FIREWORKS). The normal 20% discount for July is
JULYBOOKS13. These don't seem to apply for orders outside the US unless you
change to a US store by clicking on the flag at the top of the screen.
Hi Hank,
That is a standard problem with RS232 ports when they have not been powered up
before the K3. One solution is to go into your CW WGHT menu and tap the 4 key
to select VOX AUTOOFF. This takes the K3 out of VOX mode when you turn the K3
off so when you turn it on again it can't be keyed,
Hi Joe,
I didn't see a response to your good question, so here goes one:
Yes you can use a standard 15-pin Y-cable splitter to split out signals you
need, for example the DIGOUT1 for switching on the PR6 or to input FSK keying
signals to the K3. The key thing is to make sure the cable between
