seems like the fewest clicks:
Put the handclaps into layer 3 or 4
Instrument List -- Mute that layer for that staff
You can assign it to an instrument of its own (MIDI woodblocks?) if
the mood grabs you.

clean and starting from scratch, and I didn't have to get another
code or call MM. What I had done was clone the drive first, then
copy most of the apps and prefs - including those for Finale (2004b)
