is using UFS2 and UFS, as
this is an AMD64 box, and I have a FreeBSD 5.3beta 32bit partition in
there too. Cable is properly terminated and I'm using new low profile
round SCSI cables. I don't know what I did to cause this.

Running RELENGE_5 here, but this might be a general problem. I have a
Dell 8600. On FreeBSD, everything on the touchpad except the tap to
enter works. I wonder if I am missing a configuration variable?

Do you think these are causing the problem?
Aren't udp and icmp state-less protocols?
In that case, keep-state would not make much sense.
I use 'keep-state' only for tcp rules.
I may be wrong, moreover, I haven't followed the full thread :).

I am not sure you can do what you want to without a hub between a pc and b
pc as if my logic serves me correct both network cards would have to be set
as a gateway.

PS: does this problem also occur in CURRENT, which uses by default IPFW2
ignores the verbose_limit
setting in the kernel and defaults to net.inet.ip.fw.verbose_limit=0
when logamount is not there; so unlimited logging.
Adding logamount explicitly with each log rule, will work around this
bug for the moment.
NOTE: it only seems to affect IPFW2.

Mounting /dev/ad5e worked (at least in read-only, it wants a fsck) so
rather than try a repair, and risk blowing it up, (and I'm on 4.8, which
still has disklabel nor bsdlabel) I'll copy everything off and
re-initialise the disc in due course.

Go there and add a group and new user; this dialog explains itself, I suppose.
When finished, simply select Cancel and X Exit Install and you're done.

and there are two
gateways inbetween. So this is not the final solution to your problem,
but it may help you understand what way to go with ssh.
I remember you had login/password of one gateway, which certainly may
make things easier.
I hope all this helps a bit.

you can't delete /usr/bin/lp* and related stuff? I
don't have lpr installed at all on my server.
How about this in /etc/make.conf:
CUPS_OVERWRITE_BASE=yes
NO_LPR=yes
that will give directions to the cups port and the make world process.
