s for the question, looking closer at the G4 iMacs I see that it isn't just the USB 2 models that have an actual 2GB limit. According to Mactracker: 1. The original G4 iMac, was produced Jan 02 - Feb 03. It uses (1) PC133 144 pin SO-DIMM and (1) PC133 168 pin SDRAM for a maximum of 1GB RAM
