I occasionally photograph motorcycle road racing from close quarters at the Isle of Man races. While the speed of the DS is less than my other DSLR, I don't find it any problem. For me, capturing the right moments in such events is more a matter of observation and timing than camera speed.

Yes. That's not expensive if it's in good condition. If you don't abuse it, you probably will get the same price if you sell it half a year later. You get a genuine Power grip for the istD, which isn't available for the successors. Wish I had the money, and I feel as if I wrote this before.
