Re: Hurricane Matthew
My ISP never provides an manual either. If we get change providers and/or get a different modem/router I Google the make and model and usually am able to come up with an electronic version of the manual. Every modem I've had from different providers has had the same IP address - 192.168.0.1 - and some combination of the words "admin" and "password" for the log-in. You can log in with any phone or tablet that has wi-fi and a web browser and make any changes needed. -p On 10/12/2016 5:13 PM, John wrote: There is a web interface, but the modem comes up in wi-fi by default with the Ethernet ports disabled if the power is disconnected for more than a few minutes. There are a couple of smaller towns in eastern North Carolina that couldn't get high speed internet from either the cable companies nor the telephone companies, so they installed their own municipal high speed internet as a public utility. The cable/phone companies went to the NC Legislature & had them put a stop to that - passing a law that cities & towns couldn't offer municipal internet service. The towns went to court & won an exemption for already existing municipal systems. Can't have any NEW municipal internet systems, but for now, the towns can keep the systems they have in place. They're also not allowed to extend the systems to any area that wasn't already connected to the municipal system. Every session of the Legislature since then has had a bill introduced to overturn the court decision & force the towns/cities with municipal internet services to turn them over to the cable/phone companies. So far, they haven't passed any new laws in that regard because they haven't figured out how to write one that will stand up in court. On 10/12/2016 4:59 PM, P.J. Re: Some printer stuff to chew on...
As Paul Stenquist said, are you setting the software to control the color output or depending on the printer's driver? I looked on the Red River site and it appears they don't have an ICC profile for the R220, but they do for the R2400. Would be a good idea to install he one for the R2400 and use that when printing from that printer. Just be sure that if you use Elements to control the output you set the printer driver to not control the output results. Also, I believe the R220 uses dye based inks while the R2400 inks are pigment based. That could be a reason for the prints looking a slightly different. -p On 10/12/2016 3:58 PM, Paul Stenquist wrote: Are you printing with "PS Elements controls printing" or using the printer's color controls? Re: PESO: America's Largest
My purpose here was to celebrate the tree, not its size. And I was doing so to please a very nice lady. Hence, I didn’t want to include a figure or anything else that might indicate scale but would distract from the tree itself. The path is a standard city sidewalk, about five-feet wide. The width of the crown is impressive. More than 150 feet I would guess. But I didn’t make much effort to determine the diameter of the trunk or the expanse of the crown. I will someday if I’m by there again and have some time to spare. I thought I might find that data on the web but all I’ve found is that based on a formula that considers height, the width of the crown and the width of the trunk it is tied with another tree as largest in the United States. I think there is a larger Bebb Oak in Canada. Because Bebb Oaks are hybrids they’re not listed in some of the books that recognize record trees. In the end, it’s just a nice tree in a very unfortunate spot. I had to dodge rush hour traffic to get a decent pic. Apparently rush hour starts before dawn in Rochester Hills. I would say the path is about 1m wide so the base of the tree at ground level (by the exposed roots) is about 3m or 10'. 10' circumference is only about 3¼' diameter and clearly it is much bigger than that.
