I have finally determined that the problem is with either USB cable or
with the jack on the Mediasonic. Unfortunately I do not have a spare
USB cable that will fit in the Mediasonic - it's an H shape with two of
the legs a bit closer together. I'm pretty sure the cable came with the
Mediasonic, as
