Any tips on ways to exercise by yourself? As a C5 I can't do a lot. I have a hand cycle, but need to get strapped on.
Mostly I stretch, and use an elastic band. Hook in on my armrest and around my hand. My legbags come with elastic straps. I save a lot of them. Loop them together to make it as
How many of you guys have a daily exercise routine? I know I should, but I
don't. I'm just wondering if it would help my sore shoulder joints. If you
have one, what do you do?

Joan,
what level is your injury? using a chin control suggests pretty
high, but with your prior talk of going around the property, i
thought somewhat low. regardless, it sounds courageous.

Ouch, the suspender idea could be very uncomfortable? Of course, my solution
for the quad gut is a bodysuit, which is not uncomfortable for me, but is
difficult for my attendants. I've gotten so used to it that I feel
uncomfortable without it. And I agree with Lori, that one of the biggest

Women tend to be more self-conscious about their weight and I *hate* my
quad tummy (that has gotten bigger over the years and has nothing to do with
food) but us quads have no stomach muscles so there is nothing I can do
about it. I eat very little and eat healthy but have only gained weight.

Throughout my years living with my quad body, I have found prevention is the
best advice on the quad belly. I have worn the abdominal binder daily which
has kept me in a 34 inch waste pants. Never too late to begin
I have that problem if it's not put low enough. I have it put as low as it
can, and make sure it's wide enough. The thin ones move up easier too.
I think some people move more in the chair also. I have tight trunk/lateral
supports on my sides to hold me in place and keep my spine from curving
When I really exercise hard, I blink.

Run suspenders through your crotch. Be sure to get the kind that don't chaffe.

Hi, I'm a C4/C5. Do they lift weights or just stretch and move around?
Hey Greg,
Lisa Ericson's seated aerobic workout is one hour long with a 15 minute warm-up a half hour aerobic segment and then a 15 minute cool down with stretching included. She is a para herself but there is a girl in the
Hi Greg,
Have you ever tried breathing exercises? I have learned a lot about it from the book,"Complete Breathing" by Rich Szabo. I use what I can and try to modify the rest into something useful. Good luck and stay strong.

You can get the ones you add or decrease the amount of weight you want to start with and work your way up.

Any of you guys exercise much? I wonder if insurance will pay for one of those hand cycling
things
I am trying to do a little, but I can't move my
arms much. My main exercise is just lifting and or swinging my arms as long as I
can before I run out of breath or can't lift my arms anymore...
