sorting office forward doesn't take a changed template
Hello Batfolk, I'm testing out a new mailserver (Zimbra) at work, so I've configured sorting office in TB! to forward all messages sent to recipient (me@) to forward to metest@, and then those get into the test mailserver. The idea is so I can use the Zimbra mail client for a while to see how other folks in the office will like it. The issue I have is the forward doesn't allow me to change the template. I deleted all the normal FWD template pieces in the rule, but those changes are ignored. Palm Synch Starts the Bat
Hi All, Weird bug in the latest version of TB!, wondering if anyone else experienced it. Every time I sync my Palm (OS 5, Desktop 4.1.4, latest Agendus Standard for Windows and Palm also installed), TB! launches. I don't synch my TB mail or have any of those conduits running (wish I could synch my TB mail, but that's another story). One interesting note: During the install, TB! saw that Agendus for Windows was running and asked me to turn it off. I did, before continuing. Maintenance Steps?
Hey All, Just a curious question... probably 'cause it is Sunday and I find myself with a little extra time since going outside into the snow and wind doesn't feel like an option right now ( NYC :) ) There used to be a working defrag option in BayesIT (now no more), but do TB folders suffer so much that this was (is) necessary or does a regular ole' degrag program take care of it (I use PerfectDisk)? I supposed I could copy, rename, delete, rename manually the mail base (that's basically what it did I suppose--copied the bases over and then replaced the beat up ones with brand new files, unless it did something more), but is it necessary? My folders are set set to compress at each exit (doesn't take any time at all since it happens every time), 40K messages across multiple folders (some in the thousands). Inboxes kept mostly empty. Any issues here? Am I missing a maintenance step or two? -- Andrew Using The Bat! 3.0.1.33 On Windows XP, 5.1 Build: 2600 He hoped and prayed that there wasn't an afterlife. But a corporate support person has access to resources that user-based support groups (collectively) do not. They have the ability to go to program managers, programers, testers, marketing people, whoever, and act as client advocates when they are doing the job right and can get answers for impossible or difficult questions. The money argument doesn't hold water. They already charge enough (and recharged it again recently) to afford a customer support person or two. Especially if they are seeking corporate clients... they will have to invest $$ to make $$, and if they get popular and their costs decrease... well, we won't see a corresponding benefit. :) We all deserve vendor support, but a corporation is even less likely to invest limited budget in software that doesn't have at least that... Call it formalism, but a corporation wants a responsible party who represents the company to answer their questions, and their complaints, and that is part of the payment. It is a lot to expect, and unseemly, for a user list to support a corporate paying customer who shelled out whatever 50 seats cost. That's all. On an individual basis, we all make due. But in a corporate setting. Nope. I mean we lost 50-man days twice due to viruses. The powers that be realized that we had lost nearly a year's time in two, one-day incidents. Ritlabs could have benefited from that, and I'm sure from others who have realized the same--30 bucks a seat is a small price to pay for continued productivity, but only if it comes with some hope that help will be there at the vendor corporate level when client corp needs it. Better compression when using Rar, can create Zips for friends who haven't seen the light yet, create simple installers in a GUI interface or self extracting files, and more. btw, it is also as free as ZIP (or not ;) ). If you go over the 40-day eval you get reminded that it isn't supposed to be free, but can still use most functions. I bought it to support 'em. *Trial it first.* Also, if you've ever come across a bad zip file: Rar files can have 1) Recovery Record (as a % or each archive), gives WinRar the chance to repair broken archives by storing some extra recovery data within (increases size of file, better compression makes that a so what unless the % is really high) 2) Recovery Volumes. When spanning archives volumes, across CDs for example. You can create X number of recovery volumes that can replace any one vol in the set. Yep. I don't get how it works, but it supposedly does. Reproducing directory structures between versions of TB
Hi, All, I'm using The Bat! 2.11.02, and I'm trying to make a _very_ complicated directory structure and filter set work identically on both my desktop and my laptop machine. It originated on my desktop. Now, the desktop has more than one hard drive, and for filespace reasons, the mail directories are on a different drive than the TB executable. The laptop has one hard drive, so the mail directories are in the default location. Nonetheless, the directory structures are identical within the mail directories. %AB Macros and Addressbook filter question
Hi All, I noticed that I was getting mail to me but that my name wasn't in the original TO or was misspelled. I cam up with this. It makes sure that the sender is consistent, and that the right alias return address is used. %FROM='%ABOTOHandle %OTOADDR' But this led me to these thoughts: Is there an easier or more logical way to do this? Is there no display name AB key word or similar that would insert the entry as it would if manually selected from the address book (might be handy when sending mail too). Right now, I take the display name and have to copy it over to the handle, but if I change something in the address book, I need to update the handle as well... How does the default address filter decide how to add addresses? Is there a better way than the default one, which seems to do add every combo of name even though the e-mail addy is obviously already in there. -- Thanks, Andrew Using The Bat! 3.0.1.33 A lie can travel halfway around the world while the truth is putting on its shoes. --Mark Twain (1835 - 1910) Current version is 3.0.1.33 | 'Using TBUDL' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html

Re: TB! 2.12.00 : Default addressbook problem
Rick, Thursday, July 15, 2004, 12:20:17 AM, you wrote: RF Andrew wrote: AC I have TB! set up with two Account Groups, one for me, one for my wife, .. and in both AC Groups' Account Properties the default addressbook is set to default. AC Under 2.11.02 (and before), I see just my folders and just my addressbook, and my AC wife sees just her folders and just her addressbook. AC I just tried the upgrade to 2.12.00 and can't get this behaviour. The folder view works AC as before, but if I open my addressbook in my Group, it shows up also in my wife's AC group, and vice versa. Switched back to 2.11.2 and everything works as before. RF I find I have the same problem. It worked fine with 2.11.02 but now, RF with 2.12, other groups see my address and I can see theirs. Also, RF I have created some templates for use with certain people in my RF address book. If someone in another group starts a new message to RF someone who happens to be in my address book, their new message starts RF with the template I set up! The trail seems to have gone cold on this (I've just got back from holiday). Did you find a solution? I get the same template behaviour you reported. This makes 2.12 a no-no for me. Perhaps I should report it as a bug, but I find it odd nobody else seems to find it a problem. -- Regards, Andrew Using The Bat! v2.11.02 on Windows 98 4.10 Build A Current version is 2.12.00 | 'Using TBUDL' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html
Re: Folder size limit not working ?
Hey rich, My MUA believes '(X-Mailer not set)' was used to write mid:[EMAIL PROTECTED] on Wednesday, July 21, 2004 at 7:00:08 PM. rg You had it work at one time? I have never been able yet to make a rg folder limit itself to X messages (or delete if older than X days). rg I've been over over all my settings with this support list and still rg no good. rg Now on 2.04.7. It didn't work earlier either though. Yes, it used to work. I have to admit though that I have not checked it since before moving to v2. I was just looking around and noticed I had well over 100k messages in one of my accounts... I have pruned it down manually for some folders, but there are over 300 folders :-(. -- Tim Musson Flying with The Bat! eMail v2.12.00 Buffet. A French word that means Get up get it yourself! Hey Roelof, My MUA believes '(X-Mailer not set)' was used to write mid:[EMAIL PROTECTED] on Thursday, July 22, 2004 at 3:25:56 AM. RO The only thing that might cause problems would be the amount of RO free space both on the drive with your temp files or the amount of TM | 07/21/2004 06:45p 44,492,307 MESSAGES.TBB TM | 07/21/2004 06:45p 5,033,188 MESSAGES.TBI TM |2 File(s) 49,525,495 bytes TM |2 Dir(s) 1,968,627,712 bytes free RO I would've believed you without the 'evidence'. LOL, when in doubt... :-) RO The only thing I can think now is that your message base might be RO corrupted. It has been in the recent past, I had to have a system board replaced in my notebook. What I did then is create a REPAIR folder and Parked folder under it. Move all but the corrupt messages (no on parked) to Repair, then move all parked to Parked :-). Delete the messages.tbb and .tbi files, run a check integrity/repair on the repair folder, then put the parked messages back (and mark em parked) followed by moving all the other messages back. RO Create a new folder RO Move all messages from tbbeta to your new folder RO Close TB RO Delete the messages.tbb and .tbi files in your tbbeta directory RO Start TB RO Move all messages from your new folder to tbbeta RO Try the maintenance action again. Ok, I did that (even closing TB at every step, which I have never needed to do before, but I figured, what the heck :-). I ran a the maint on both the temp folder before moving back, and again on the tbbeta foder after moving. No luck! :-( well, we did make some progress... It purged 1 message). TBBETA now has over 9k msgs, and is set to only keep 90 days and 8000. Not including the parked messages, I have them back to Jan of 2004. -- Tim Musson Flying with The Bat! eMail v2.12.00 My family coat of arms ties at the back ... is that normal? Re: Having trouble setting up acount
Hello, DG Why not send a test message and see what happens. J I did and it appears OK but, like I said, I know very little about J email headers so I could be interpreting it incorrectly. RO It's easy. Look at the from header as it's displayed by TB. As long as RO that displays Your Name Your address you're fine. Great. The sending part is working fine. I'll have to figure out how to leave messages (not delete) on the other server in order to receive the messages but this is a big improvement already. Thanks for the help. :) -- Jack Current version is 2.12.02 | 'Using TBUDL' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html Current version is 2.12.02 | 'Using TBUDL' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html

Hallo Ben, On Thu, 22 Jul 2004 12:29:13 +0100GMT (22-7-2004, 13:29 +0200, where I live), you wrote: BA Yes i do but then i found an option which made the compress and purge BA on exit work. Hadn't checked the option in folder properties to tell BA TB for that folder to remove old messages and compress the folder on BA exit. Like duh. Ah well found it... Ah. I misread your message then. I thought you meant that you had checked those, since you wrote: BA However I haven't quite been able to get the folders to purge BA themselves automatically, even though the options to purge and BA compress upon closing TB! is enabled And therefore I started to look for what might be relevant. ;-) -- Groetjes, Roelof Disclaimer: Any opinion stated in this message is not necessarily shared by my budgies or rabbits. Hey Roelof, My MUA believes '(X-Mailer not set)' was used to write mid:[EMAIL PROTECTED] on Thursday, July 22, 2004 at 3:18:52 AM. RO I don't know whether it's relevant, but have you got Account - RO Properties - Options - 'Compress all folders on exit' enabled? I RO have and as I said purging and compressing on exit works fine with RO me. No, I didn't. I don't want to wait for TB when I shut down my workstation. I did give it a try, also setting purge/compress in my folder properties, but no luck with either option. -- Tim Musson Flying with The Bat! eMail v2.12.00 In a world without walls and fences, who needs Windows and Gates?
