You could always print the file, 2 pages on one, but print to a PDF.
If you use a Mac or Linux (certainly with KDE not sure bout Gnome)
then this is built in.
If you are stuck using windows you might be able to find a free pdf

It sounds like you haven't actually installed the program.
Do you have a folder along the lines of OpenOffice Installation files
on your desktop?
Try opening the folder and running setup.exe
If you have installed the program then it should be listed in Start -
All Programs - OpenOffice
Yeah, move it back.
If you want the program installed on your F: drive, uninstall it then
reinstall it and select your F drive when prompted.

Create a blank Write document.
File - Save As - File format as Open Document Template
Save the file on your desktop.
Remove the .ott file extension and call the file Writer
Repeat for each type ie Impress, Calc etc
